Product Description This volume contains the proceedings of the first of an international series of conferences on the deuterocanonical literature organised by the Shime‘on Centre in Pápa, Hungary. Renowned international scholars of the field treat questions of text in the Book of Tobit, the underlying traditions and theological questions. The importance of the deuterocanonical corpus is widely recognised in contemporary scholarship. This is marked by the growing number of related publications. Yet it remains important to create an opportunity to work through the entire deuterocanonical material as such. These conferences aim to provide a yearly forum for discussion of this literature. The next conferences planned are on Maccabees (2005), Sirach (2006), Wisdom (2007), Additions (2008) and Judith (2009), and as a result, the organisers plan to publish five more volumes. Together with the present volume these will cover the entire deuterocanonical corpus. Related Search : text tradition , books papa , first international |

Customer reviews Great Approach for Teaching Writing by .. Charles Alexander (Tucson, AZ United States) This book takes some getting used to. I tried it once with mixed success, and didn't try it again for awhile. But I kept thinking about what it offered, its "mystory" approach in which authors immerse themselves in their subjects and write work that is not necessarily objective, but more illuminating for its passionate commitment. So eventually I started teaching the method again, and it elicited absolutely the best writing from college freshmen and sophomores that I have ever had in my classes. Once the teacher understands both the method and the elasticity of the method, it is, well . . . a beautiful thing. I would recommend this book wholeheartedly, though I might want to caution the teacher to live with the book for a few months or even a year before they begin using it in classes. It's an exciting leap.

Customer reviews baby book by .. H2O Jet (Charlotte, NC United States) What a perfect baby gift in support of a particular school. The Auburn parents thought it was great!!!
Baby Tigers! by .. Leslie N. Martin () For your little Auburn Tiger this is the perfect book. It is sturdy and captures the AU life that you want your little one to treasure!
Great for Alumni! by .. H. Anderson (Seattle, WA) I bought this for my friend's two year old daughter - we are both UW-Madison alums living in Seattle. The book has lots of photographs of various things around campus, including lessons on colors and numbers using Wisconsin-related items. Her daughter carries it around constantly saying "Bucky Badger!" and also lobes the picture of the hockey team! It is a great book for us to share our memories of Madison with her, even though we live so far away. :)
U...C...L...A...!!! UCLA Fight Fight Fight!!! by .. L. Levine (Santa Monica, CA United States) What an awesome book! It's a fantastic start to get my son prepared for his first year at UCLA come Fall 2024! :-)
A must-have for any Cornell alumnus with a child by .. K. Joyce (Macedonia, OH United States) A nice idea for a shower or new baby gift for a fellow alumnus, and a great way to start brainwashing your own child from the beginning.

Customer reviews Great...except for the upside-down pages! by .. Jennifer T. Griffin (Kearney, NE United States) As an ND alum, I ordered this book for my son (15 months) for Christmas. It's a great concept, but something's seriously lacking in the execution of the idea, given that the first 2 pages of the book are printed UPSIDE-DOWN! Sure, maybe my son won't know the difference, but my husband is a die-hard Penn-State-and-anyone-who-plays-Notre-Dame fan, and he will surely never let me hear the end of this. These printers/publishers/quality inspectors, or whoever is responsible for this really need to get their act together. Other than the upside-down pages, it's a really cute book. Lots of good ND-specific pictures in it (even though it's made from a template used to make similar books for other schools).

Product Description The relationships between the many different versions of Tobit present a famous and important problem for text-critics and historians of Judaism; however, study of the subject has been hindered by the lack of any single, reliable collection. This book brings together, for the first time, a wide range of texts (Greek, Latin, Hebrew, Aramaic, Syriac), some previously overlooked or virtually inaccessible, based in many cases on new readings. A single system of verse numeration is applied to all, and the key versions are presented synoptically, to facilitate comparison. Introductions and critical notes are provided for each text, along with succinct observations on the relationships between them in each passage, and concordances to assist stylistic and linguistic study.
