Compatible with any classroom text, SchaumOs 3000 Solved Problems in Chemistry is so complete itOs the perfect tool for graduate or professional exam review! Customer reviews Dispite the reviews, I really like this book... by .. Y. Saimoto (Los Angeles CA) I'm currently taking college chemistry. Book consists of 3000 questions with various general chemistry topics. Ampule amount of questions for each topic and complexity. Answers/soutions provided right below questions. Useful(at least for me)because I don't have to flip through the back of the book for answers. In addition, since my textbook only have even numbered questions with just answers on the back of the book, I can use this book to reflect to similar problems.
If you need practice with chemistry problems, (esp. when you are a science major in college/university) I would recommend this book. (If your just in high school, your textbook and study guide would be fine.)
Not as good as it could be by .. Michael Goldman (Sunnyvale, CA USA) 1. No review of subject - only solved problems
2. Not keyed in with Schaum's College Chemistry which does have some basic theory - so you will be doing them out of order with some texts.
3. No unsolved problems to work on to test yourself.
The thing I love about Schaum's outline series is they give you a brief discussion of theory, then a few problems solved in great detail and then several more just like it with the answer but no detail for you to figure out. This book doesn't do that - each problem is solved in moderate detail and some are fairly complex so you have to be pretty sure of what they are talking about before you tackle the problem. The problems increase in difficulty within each chapter so it has some tutorial aspect there.
I would use this for review after I've completed my text and the Schaum's College Chemistry or to hunt some problem that stumped me in my textbook to see how to do it.

Excellent referrence book for college chemistry. by .. () I have used this book as a referrence numerous times when I needed to reinforce my understanding of certain problems. Most college text books do not provide enough (or varied) chemistry problems. This book may help you in that arena. The chapters may not go in order with the text that you are using but each section is very simple to find. The book claims to take you all the way through to the most advanced chemistry problems. This book may even be useful in brushing up for your MCAT. Good luck.

Product Description Solved Problem Series These books help readers review and master what they've learned by showing them how to solve thousands of relevant problems. Perfect for preparing for graduate or professional exams, these detailed reminders of problem-solving techniques show readers the best strategies for answering even the toughest questions, including the types that appear on typical tests. Customer reviews A Physics Cocktail by .. Delmer Reed (Costa Mesa, CA) The Schaum's 3000 Solved Problems is a very useful way to mix ability levels, and variety. However, it does not offer chapter by chapter quick notes like other Schaum's. So, if you don't have many of the skills or understanding when entering a problem you must refer to a text. The best thing about this book is that it offers a lot of problems in many areas so that a student may quickly find and target areas for review. My biggest peeve about help books is that the reader is bound to see problems from their own text time after time, and each of those problems is wasted energy. Always consult your text and then supplement this text for variety, but not authority. Learn from the in class text as much as possible because this book is the cut and dry mathematics. Overall, it's great for practice tests and helps here and there, which is more than what I can say about other books.
Has not helped by .. Jessica () This book has not helped me at all in my physics class, mainly because the problems are nothing like the ones my teacher assigns. They are all much easier.
Excellent Help In Physics by .. James E. Rayburn (Gastonia, NC USA) I've bought other books on the topic of physics as well. I'm an engineer/programmer, not a physics guru, and this is the book that's done me the most good with the advanced topics. For the price you can't go wrong, and the basic topics are covered very well also.
Exceptionally good by .. The Rizzler (Virginia) I'm a retired physicist and bought this book so I could pick out good problems for my daughter to solve as an adjunct to her high school textbook. It often happens that if you "get" a concept one or two problems is enough practice but when you're having trouble its nice to have many, many problems (and see the solutions) on a particular topic to work on until the concept "clicks". This book is perfect in that regard. I was also pleased that many of the problems go well beyond plug and pray. Last but not least, the solutions are CORRECT (I've yet to encounter an error).
The one criticism I would make is there is a tendency to have several sequential problems depend on the prior problem. Thus, if problem 8.47 looks interesting you might find that you have to first solve 8.45 and 8.46 before attempting it. Minor point....
I also bought Schaum's 3000 Calculus problems and found it to be just as good.
3,000 Solved Problems in Calculus
good book by .. someone () This book has plenty of practice problems and helped me to bring my grade up, but the problems seem kind of dry compared to textbook problems. Most of the problems have to do with the same situation (ex. boom, something going in a circle, inclined plane, etc.). Problems in texbooks are often more varied in style and force you think a bit more. If the problems are of a greater variety, this will definitely be 5 stars. I still recommend this for anyone who is hoping to get better grades in physics. You'll get a lot better by doing all those practice problems.

Compatible with any classroom text, Schaum's 3000 Solved Problems in Electric Circuits is so complete it's the perfect tool for graduate or professional exam prep! Customer reviews How much do you know? by .. Clifford W. Blasch (Horde SpecOps, USA) When I first wanted to buy this book, the reviews weren't that helpful. Alot of issues with mistakes and proof reading. My background is one of electronics, I have over 100 semester hours in electrical engineering from a major college. So before you buy this book, let me point out some things.
First, this isn't an introductry book for electronics, If your looking for a guide buy something else I highly recommend The Art of Electronics Anyway back to the review:
This book covers several items which I spent several years learning in college all 4 years. It is filled with integration, and other wonderful calculus and physics formulas. If you are afraid of upper level math, don't buy this. It goes WAY beyond introductry courses, and will not explain how or why.
On the other side of the house. If you have a background in Electronics, heavy in theory. If you are alittle rusty or just trying to revive those long dead brain cells, this book is excellent. Yes there are a few mistakes, but as your working the problem, its very easy to spot, missed decimal places etc. I'm currently using this book to prep for the US Postal Electronics Tech Test. I anticipate this will cover everthing I need, with the exception of number conversions, binary to decimal etc. That might be covered, but first glance I didn't see it.
So in summary, if an Integration sign scares you, or If you have watched "Good Will Hunting" and have never seen the symbols he writes on the mirror, or have never heard of Kirchhoff, vectors, Thev Eq, or even Ohms Law don't buy this. If you have seen or done the above, your pretty safe.
I hope this helps.
3500 problems by .. Johannes Kepler (Texas, USA) Honestly, this book should be called "3,500 Problems in Electrical Circuits" - the 3000 problems presented along with the 500 errors in their solutions. Buyer beware - unless you're confident in your circuit skills and just want to solve problems - be careful! This book has incorrect solutions from missing terms to magically appearing factors of 10 to misspellings (even misspelling Newton! which is the equal of scientific sacrilege). Many of the circuit drawings are not even clean CAD drawings but cruder hand drawings...
All of this shows a clear lack of attention, review and editing - so unless you wish to perform these functions, move on! This is the product of a cram session overnighter in order to get a paycheck... The value equivalent of "Britney Spears Guide to Class and Refinement"...
Good book by .. L. Martti (Espoo, Finland) A good book - problems are a bit simple, but when practising calcutating routine skills, they are a great help. Few typos are a nuisance, but they are easy to spot (see the other reviews).
DON'T BOTHER BUYING GARBAGE by .. T. Burtell (Dearborn, MI United States) Really unbelievable... The first two problems have the WRONG answers. 1. "3" megohm is not equal to "2" M Ohm. Besides, there's an "a" after the "g" in megaohm. Geez, two typos in the first question. 2. .000000001 F = 1.0 nanofarad, not picofarad as the writer claims. How can anyone trust his answers on the difficult questions when he gets the easy ones wrong? If the problem is with typos then get a proofreader before it gets to the printer. Electrical engineering is a difficult subject as it stands. Circulating books like this makes it still harder to master the subject!
Very Helpful by .. Mark Goodell (Richmond, VA USA) I wish that all study guides were as useful as this one. In each topic area the author starts with simple problems, so the student can get the hang of what is going on, and progresses to the more complicated. I used this guide a number of years ago when I was taking undergraduate electrical engineering classes, and I still think of it as an important friend.

Product Description Here's a wide-ranging collection of practice problems typical of the FE exam in every respect. All exam topics are covered and SI units are used. These multiple-choice questions are conveniently arranged by subject--so you can work through just the areas where you need practice, or all 1001 problems. A full, step-by-step solution is provided for each problem. Customer reviews A Must Have by .. L.B. (Phoenix, AZ) I've been out of school for ever. I studied for 6 months and failed. I changed my studying strategy after that. Instead of going back and studying the subjects from ground-up, I did almost all of the practice problems in this book twice! Except for differential equations (skipped that section entirely). I think you still need the ground-up knowledge but don't over do it if you've been out of school for a while. Get this book and work problem after problem. Most of the questions on the exam didn't scare me because they were very similar to the problems in this book. Now I'm moving on to the P.E.!
Con: I'm not the sharpest guy by far but I did find some errors in the book which were not published. So I'm sure there are more that I didn't find.
Pro: It's about half the size of the FE Review Manual, Rapid Preperation for the General Exam 2nd Edition, so you can take it with you anywhere.
I also recommend the above mentioned review manual and the FE/EIT Sample Exam, 2nd Edition. These three books got me through the exam.
I used the HP33s and just programmed the vectors, which helped me out with a couple of questions. (every point counts!) The only other thing useful was the statistics which is already pre-programmed.
Good Luck!!!
Good Reference for General FE Exam questins by .. Rachel () Well written, questions are similar in scope and difficulty to actual FE exam questions. Does not cover discipline specific exam questions (civil, mechanical, etc.) No actual practice tests, but good questions and solutions.
Tons of errors by .. E. Neuhaus (Seattle, WA United States) This book for the most part is good for studying and the problems cover many areas related to the exam. However, this is the 3rd edition for which an errata does not yet exist. Having been studying with this book for several weeks now, it is LITTERED with errors. I would NOT recommend buying this book until a full errata is available. Buy the 2nd edition and view the errata online. We spent hours trying to figure out problems that were done incorrectly. Units don't work out, wrong numbers used, etc. Big time waster and it is hard to have confidence in learning from this book when it has this many errors.

Scott Sylvestri (Old Greenwich, CT) The book arrived in as good or better condition than I expected. I would definitely buy from this seller again.
Getting back up to speed with Calculus by .. Michael P. Quinn (Lewisville, TX United States) I went back to school after a 8 year break, and was very worried that my calculus would be a long forgotten skill. Between this book and forgotten calculus, I returned to school confident that I was not going to be blindsided by applied calculus.
A good PRACTICE guide - not a way to first learn the topic.... by .. Ernie () I bought this book and several others to help my daughter with her AP calculus. Along those lines, this book is not very useful as the AP examiners have gone off and deviated from the traditional bread and butter calculus topics (volumes of revolution, techniques of integration, related rates, max/min/inflection points, etc.). They have fallen in love with calculating averages, the fundmaental theorem of calculus, and their calculators (see my other reviews). So if your buying this book for that purpose, it won't really help as this book covers only traditional techniques and topics without the need of a calculator.
HOWEVER, for a supplement to traditional class material, this is a great book. I agree with the prior reviewers that this is not a book that will teach you calculus from the start - you need to already know how to take a derivative and integrate, what is meant by a volume of revolution, related rate, and so forth. However, if you want EXCELLENT scores, practice is the key and this book gives you a lot of practice. After a while, you will realize that there are only so many variations on a particular topic that can be tested and they keep coming up over and over again (I orginally took calculus in the 1980's and ran across the same problems).
In summary, if you need to first learn the basics of the material, this book is not for you. If you already know the basics and want practice on the bread and butter topics, this is an excellent way to do so. I doubt that your instructor will give you problems not covered in some fashion in this book.
Be very careful! by .. J. MOLDOVAN () If you want a reference book, this ain't it. Nor a textbook. You must understand the concepts before you even open the volume. It would then be a great help in applying your knowledge to real-world problems.
I say, "would" because the numerous typos and mistakes make it a dangerous tool to use. Some errors are obvious (if annoying), some will mislead and puzzle you and some, well... just pray.
I give it a three because it may still be useful. Just be careful how you use it!

Gooss (Richmond, VA) This paperback manual is very helpful as I prepare to take the structural engineering exam for the first time. It has more than I can absorb in the time allotted. It could be improved by assuming that I was a little less knowledgeable of the jargon involved, as well as where the data came from.
