Product Description

Sales master Jeffrey Gitomer has created a real-world, practical, and fun book that salespeople will love and profit from -- and sales managers will buy by the case.

Salespeople want answers. That's why the Little Red Book of Selling is short, sweet, and to the point. It's packed with answers that people are searching for in order to help them make sales for the moment - and for the rest of their lives.

In the Little Red Book of Selling salespeople will learn why sales happen and a philosophy of success - long term, relationship driven, and referral oriented - nothing to do with manipulation or other old-world sales tactics. It has everything to do with understanding buying motives and taking ethical, relationship-building actions.

People don't like to be sold but they love to buy has become more than Gitomer's registered trademark- it's a mantra. A mantra every salesperson needs to understand at the core of his selling success. Throughout this book the reader will begin to adopt a philosophy that drives them to a higher, value-driven purpose.

There are 12.5 powerful principles of sales mastery. These principles are at the heart of sales success. They are the difference between red (putting your heart into your career) and black (having a job, coming to work, and making a commission). Other chapters include; What's the Difference between Failure and Success in Salespeople, The Little Salesman that Could, The Two Most Important Words in Selling, and Just Plain "How to Make a Sale."

The cover is classic red cloth. The four-color graphics make it compelling and easy to read, and the content is easy to understand and implement. For your convenience there is a red satin (ok, polyester) bookmark so you can remember your place. It is small enough to carry with you - big enough to contain the answers you need — powerful enough to fill your wallet.

The Best Book on Sales I Have Ever Read! 5 by .. Mark Raciappa (Tallahassee, FL USA)
It starts with a "kick" (in the a**) and works its way through to your head. Get your "head in the game", believe you can, and get to work. Even before the suggestion near the end to re-read this book, I had already made up my mind that I had to go back through it. There is so much useful info (RED bits), motivational quotes, tips on everything from appointments to voicemail, my head is still spinning. I saw myself in some of the sales shortcomings that were discussed and have solid help to correct them. I recommend this to anyone who is ready to stop making excuses, look at themselves in the mirror, and make changes. You may feel Gitomer "grabbing you by the lapels and shaking", and it's for your own good. Get it, read it(and re-read it), and grow your success!

Selling always selling 3 by .. Food Prep Fanatic (Port Madison, WA)
This is a catchy little boook and I thought it would be inspirational for my sales team so I purchashed one for each. While it has some interesting ideas it tends to be repetitious and covers little new territory.
Some of his "inspiration" is a bit crude and offensive. My major objection is the author's constant attempts to get people on to his website to sell more products. He offers a free visit on specific topics, but then to get more info you have to buy another of his products. I also found out too late that this book is one of a series of sales coaching books he produces, and apparently I should have read the prequel to this.
Basically, I resent paying money to read pages of hard-sell advertising for more of the author's books and web-based products.
It is somewhat motivational but only for novice sales people.

Great tool 5 by .. PDG ()
This book has proved perfect as a motivational tool for our sales team. By reading this together and processing what we have read, I have been able to get my sales team to begin to change their own outlook and address their own bad habits and struggles. If the book isn't filled with blinding new insights, the things it says are the kinds of things we always need to be reminded of. It fits very well with a team of newer sales reps and even has something to offer my veterans. It is easy to read and concise.

Good Tool to Help Increase Your Sales 4 by .. Michael Taylor (Indian Trail NC)
"Little Red Book of Selling" focuses on principles needed to become great in sales. The book has good bits of information, including:

1. Some characteristics of sales success.
2. How to give value to customers.
3. Networking is superior to cold calling.
4. Getting past the gatekeeper.
5. Using the right kind of humor will help your sales.
6. Ways to increase your creativity.
7. Dealing with real and perceived risks the potential customer faces.
8. Sales opportunities are all around you if you pay attention to your surroundings and people around you.
9. Be careful of time wasters that distract you from succeeding in your career and life.
10. 10 qualities that can help you become #1.

Granted, while some of the information is common sense and probably something you already knew, there are good bits of information and advice. Also, I particularly liked the "Red Bits" of information mentioned in the title that you may access through Gitomer's web site.

One particular criticism: while I do not mind Gitomer's "in your face" approach, I did not like the the inclusion of several instances of the a** and h*** words used in the book. While we could all use some motivation, I did not think it was appropriate to use those words to try to get me pumped up. Just state your principles and let them stand by themselves without adding cuss words to try to strengthen your point!

Complaint aside, still a good book. Recommended.

Gardener's Journal 5 by .. F. D. Driscoll (East Longmeadow, Massachusetts United States)
An excellent book and becoming hard to find in new condition. I have had two of these in the past and wanted a third one for the years 2009-2013. The easiest book for someone who likes to compare data from year to year.

Good Hints and Down-to-Earth Information 5 by .. gojobooks (Louisiana, USA)
I highly recommend this book for anyone with a home-based book business with Amazon or any other on-line store. The ideas are right on and elementary. Yet, if you already have a business, the information and web sites he gives in the book are valuable.

A Good Resource 4 by .. Timothy Haugh (New York, NY United States)
I've sold a few books on eBay, but I've never really tried seriously to make money at it. However, I have the advantage of having long experience in the book trade. Still, I was wondering what might be particular about the online world, so I decided to take a look at this book since Steve Weber is someone who started small and built a successful online business. For the most part, this book is a valuable tool for someone who really wants to make it.

There are a number of things that I really like about this book. He's very smart about where to find books and about what books are smart to acquire. He's particularly acute with suggesting areas that should be avoided and those that are easy to overlook (certain types of textbooks, particular areas of history-- "learn to find unusual books"). In these areas, his suggestions often gibe with my own experience, though I'm more excited about certain areas than he is.

He's also quite good on the mechanics of running an online business, though I focused mainly on his general suggestions about tracking inventory, pricing and customer service. He goes a bit overboard when suggesting websites and software worth looking at to manage some of these tasks. A few simple, straightforward suggestions might serve the beginner better.

And, of course, this book suffers from the fate of all books that deal with online services. Published in 2006, some of the specific suggestions, particularly concerning the smaller companies, are already out-of-date. If you stick with the larger companies, however, you probably won't have too much trouble.

In the end, this book provides valuable insight into running a bookstore. It doesn't matter whether you are someone who already owns a store and wants to get your inventory online or someone starting from scratch, there is valuable advice here.

Much more than you paid for! 5 by .. Victorya Rogers (Dallas, TX United States)
I read Home-Based Bookstore because I have hundreds of perfect condition used books I just cleared out from my personal library at home and wanted to see if I could sell them on Amazon and didn't know how to get started. Just like Steve Weber's other books, you get much more than you pay for. Weber fills this book with details covering every aspect of setting up your home based used bookstore for NO MONEY upfront. How cool is that? Where as other books on the topic have been reviewed saying they just recycle what you can find on Amazon help pages, Weber includes tons of insider information far beyond what is found on Amazon's help links, such as what and where to find books to sell, how to price them correctly, how to package and ship, get feedback from customer, handling negative feedback, handling taxes, etc. etc. etc. No question you can think up appears to be lacking an answer on these pages...and here's another exciting upside...within 2 days of reading this book and setting up my store, I've already sold and shipped THREE of my books. Thanks Steve...and keep sharing your insider information.

Great for New Booksellers 5 by .. An Honest Reviewer (Detroit)
I read this book when I first started selling books on amazon and I had so many questions. This book answered them all in a simple, direct manner. I have read just about every book that comes out on the subject, and this by far is the most informative and well written. Who cares about the cheap plastic binding? It's the information inside that is important and in this regard, this book is a winner!

Getting this guide is like hiring a personal trainer and mentor. 5 by .. downeast bookseller ()
Yes, it's true that Amazon itself does a good job of being user-friendly for sellers, but for new-to-the-business folks like me, this is a terrific guide. It's like hiring a personal trainer who's at your side when you want her. It's like exercise--yes, you can do it all by yourself, but it does help to have that one-on-one expertise.

Miller is organized, clear and concise and, she's got a cheeky sense of humor to relieve tension and remind you that, yes, you can do this and it's going to be fine and it's going to be fun! The format is actually easier to use than a paperback book because I can prop it open on the desk to refresh my memory as I work and for whatever step I'm at: creating an accurate listing, contacting customers, finding tools and services to take it to the next level, and so on. In addition, her insider tips from her years in the business are quite helpful and easy to follow.

This is a particularly helpful first guide and then you can graduate and move onto the more sophisticated and involved stuff. Great investment.

I got my start with this book! 5 by .. Idaho Cat Lady (Boise, Idaho)
I love books and wanted to investigate selling them on Amazon, so I bought this book. It basically gave me everything I needed to know to get started, and the incentive to try. Although I am still very small, just selling a few books a week, I am in the process of building my inventory and have found that Ms. Miller is right - this is a do-able and profitable business and this book was absolutely invaluable in helping me to get started, and I am going to re-read it again as a continuing reference.

Must Read for a would-be bookseller or experienced bookseller 5 by .. Charles (Park Ridge Illinois)
Concise and to-the-point. Easy read. Great real-life examples of seller success stories. Chock full of helpful tips and advice to increase your sales and maintain motivation. If you want to be successful selling books, then read this book first. In fact, read it a few times just to be sure the information hits home. You can easily read it in just over an hour or so. Five-star effort all the way! Thanks Christine!

Okay Info for beginers 3 by .. Allison (Tennessee)
I have been selling books on Amazon for several months now and was looking for a book that could give me a little more expertise and tips on how to be more effective at buying and selling books. I found this book to be mostly information I have read many times before in other places, with very little new useful info for anyone who has been selling for more than a few months. This book has some good information for new book sellers, but you can get 99% of this info by reading the Amazon.com guidelines on selling and reading Michael E. Moulds' blog, both of which are free. If you don't want to spend 30 minutes on Google to get this information for yourself, then this is the book for you. If not, don't waste your money.

Excelllent starter book for online book selling 5 by .. Reader (Chicago, IL USA)
There are so many books out there nowadays that talk about online book selling. The reason I picked this one to read is because I liked it's author's name - Windwalker. It was delight to find out that the author is in fact Native American. But besides that personal preference of mine, I found book to be very helpful. As most people, I started selling books online as a means of relinquishing non-essential inventory from my personal library. It is thru the interactions of my online customers that I learned to enjoy an activity previously considered a chore. Although I am not a professional bookseller, I am delighted to be a part of the bookselling community for the books I no longer wish to keep in my personal library that can still find a good home. This book manual has helped me understand some basic business rules on bookselling which I kind of pick up on intuitively. This is a comprehensive handbook that covers everything, from building a business plan, to making a proper book descriptions online. Without large inventory, I cannot see how people can make living off this. But as a hobby, this is a great way to deliver books to a reading community where readership has limited resources or time to find them in the regular brick and mortar book stores. I definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about online bookselling.

Second thoughts about selling used books 5 by .. Lawrence Johnson (Pennsylvania)
I have been selling my old books on line at ebay and half com for awile now and thought an online book store sounded like a good idea. I thought that I would seek some expert advice and in doing so purchased Selling Used Books Online by Stephen Windwalker. This book has proven to be an excellant choice. While some of the information is a bit dated, overall it is a very good book. It doesn't sugar coat the book selling business and make it seem like a wonderfull and easy way to make a living. Mr. Windwalker gives you the good with the bad and shows how selling used books requires a lot of work and and a lot of knoweledge. This book has helped me tremendously in my attempts at making money selling used books. Not only has it helped with my book selling but it has made me more aware of what to look for in my book buying. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who thinks they can just go online and get rich selling used mass market paperbacks.

Good If You're A Beginner, Otherwise . . . 3 by .. Joe Waynick (Phoenix, AZ USA)
If this is your first read on bookselling you'll get quite a bit out of it. If you've been around for awhile, you'll still find interesting ideas, but not as manay as a beginner.

I found the information in this book to be mostly conceptual rather than day-to-day practical advice. And there are numerous typographical errors including misused words, misspellings, and mathematical problems in his formulas. In fact, there are so many mistakes it made me wonder about the accuracy of much of the information in the rest of the book. Mr. Morrill should have utilized the services of a good editor.

Readability aside, the book covers the basics. In addition, it has nice sections on grading your books and where to buy books. He also spends a generous amount of time discussing the ins and outs of the Amazon bookseller forums - that's something I haven't seen in other bookselling books. Finally, the section on navigating the Amazon seller interface was very interesting.

There's certainly enough material here that can be more fully developed to enrich the reader's experience. And I suspect Mr. Morrill will leverage his work in furture revisions.

If you sell books I think you'll get ideas from this read. But at 200 pages, wading through all the material that's presented to find one or two nuggets may not be your cup of tea. But then again, I like going on treasure hunts.

Not impressed 1 by .. An Honest Reviewer (Detroit)
This book is very poorly written and edited (bad grammar, misspellings, redundancies galore). The information itself is very basic and generic, without much specific detail. Much information is left out, unintelligible or misleading. Mr. Morrill probably knows how to sell books on amazon, he is just not a writer.

Exellent Book To Get Your "Selling Books Online" Business Started 5 by .. Michael Ellington ()
I have bought and sold stuff online for awhile and yet this book had a lot of useful information that I didn't know about. It gives useful, specific sources for many different categories of how to sell books online.
I have paid much more for courses and books from so called marketing and ecommerce experts that didn't have near as much information.
So often you will read or hear that you need to do this or that, but often enough these books are difficult to apply unless you have a large amount of capital invested into the business (which most of us do not have such luxury).
The many different categories of selling advice would at first make you think that it just glosses over them but once you start to read you see that they are one of the strengths of this book... you just keep finding good advice to tweak and improve your online business.
From web site design and boosting traffic to credit card acceptance to keeping your customers happy or even legal advice for people just starting out, it's hard to name just one part that would be considered the best part of this book. It doesn't matter if you are only thinking about starting an online book business or if you have various web sites and are an experienced eBay user, there will be something in here that will make you glad you bought it.

Selling Books on Amazon 5 by .. George H. Glade ()
Where was this book when I wrote my 1st book? This is a must read for the self published or small press author, although not the target audience. The writer identifies the pitfalls and things to consider when starting your own on-line store. Bringing this book up on the amazon site, you see all of the ways the author discusses on getting cross pollination with other books and sources of sales. This was particularly useful.

excellent resource 5 by .. Nancy A. Morrill (.enumclaw, WA)
chock full of helpful information for online selling. Easy to read. I found the resource leads and development suggestions most useful - a well thought out book that I will refer to often.

DON'T PAY for Book Marketing: these techniques are free, more effective, and more credible! 4 by .. LOTONtech (www.lotontech.com)
Not only is this book packed full of useful information, but it is also a good read. From the very first pages, it will convince you of why -- and how -- you should harness the power of Amazon for marketing your book(s).

My only slight criticism is that it is very Amazon-centric despite the more generic title. I know that Amazon is the centre of the book-selling universe, but many of the techniques are also relevant to other retail web sites. For example, Barnes & Noble Essentials Lists (which are like Listmania!)

Steve does describe other ways to market and sell your books; e.g. from your web site or blog, via eBay, and so on.

Book marketing can take up a lot of your time, maybe more than the time spent writing the book! So one of the biggest challenges for readers of books about 'book marketing' is figuring out which techniques to focus on. This book has some nice graphs and charts that show the effectiveness of techniques such as 'recommendations'.

One thing for sure: you shouldn't waste your time on paid-for advertising when these free techniques are more effective... and more credible.

Smartly written, sensible advice, good insights 4 by .. K. R. Anderson (Westborough, MA)
"Plug Your Book" is a practical, insightful guide to promoting a self-published (or even a trade-published) book in the Internet age, with an emphasis on Amazon.com and other e-tailers and e-strategies along with some traditional approaches. It's clearly written, well-organized, and useful. A good value for an author looking to optimize sales.

Love from Both Sides: A True Story of Soul Survival and Sacred Sexuality

If only I'd found Steve Weber's book last year! What a wealth of information for a first time writer. Writing a book is daunting - takes forever, yes? Then finding a publisher is almost impossible, right? - but once that happens, and amazingly it did for me, I was like a a deer-in-headlights about the marketing and publicity. But now that I've found Steve and his book, I think I'm in love. He charts out what needs to be done and makes seem so easy. Thank you so much!

Fantastic Book 5 by .. Mitch Paioff (Littleton, CO)
I recently finished writing my first book in nearly 20 years and was looking for information about selling it online. I bought Plug Your Book! by Steve Weber and I'm glad I did. I really had no idea just how drastically the book publishing industry has changed since the 1980's.

One strategy that I started using as a result of reading this book is writing book reviews on Amazon.com (hence this one). I had never written a book review in my life until I read Weber's book. Now I write them all the time.

This has been one of those rare buying experiences for me - the product I bought actually exceeded my expectations - by a long shot. This book is packed with useful information for authors and publishers. I really don't think you can get this kind of information anywhere else.

I highly recommend Plug Your Book!

Definitely a Valuable Tool!!! 4 by .. Anne Preciado Rich (Roseburg, OR)
I found that the book had some very important and valuable information, giving both pros and cons of different aspects of online marketing...in the rapidly changing field of book publishing, this book is a must read. If you don't use all of the book's suggestions, (I ended up using a totally different web host than those originally suggested in the book because it seemed much more user-friendly to my neophyte sensibilities), it will certainly get you pointed in the right direction. Thanks a bunch to author Steve Weber for laying it all out!!!

Great reference for any business owner 4 by .. Stephanie George (Gainesville, FL USA)
I have an earlier version of this book and absolutely swear by it. I turned to this book originally because the attorney I hired to write the contracts did a terrible job understanding what we wanted. I ended up selling my business using the contract templates included in the book as well as many of the checklists.

I'm not a lawyer and I easily understood everything that went into our contracts. In fact, the buyers of our business were impressed that we did all the paperwork ourselves and their attorney approved all of the contracts. Personally, I don't think I would ever take the "DIY" route again - but I know what it takes now!

I don't recommend selling (or buying) a business without an attorney or CPA. However, read this book first and you will have a much more informed conversation about what you do and don't want in your contracts when you do go to your attorney and CPA. Use the information from this book to help you interview and hire the right professionals to assist you.

I keep this book on my shelf as a great reference and have recommended it to many clients. I refer to this occasionally when a client needs to design their exit strategy.

The price of this book is well worth it. Consider it the pre-requisite education you need before spending hundreds (or thousands!) of dollars being educated by a lawyer!

Excellent Nuts and Bolts Guide 4 by .. W. Daniel Doran (New York, New York)
This is an excellent nuts and bolts, basic guide for selling a small company. Fred does a solid job of walking through the basics. The book is geared more towards the "technical" aspects of selling a business - ie contracts, forms, etc etc. Overall, good back ground book.

Great book for navigating your way on Amazon 5 by .. Ken and Norah Fritz (West Richland, WA USA)
This book has really opened our eyes on how to market on Amazon. It's a great community for both the buyer and seller. The book's main focus is how to expose merchandise to potential buyers. For example, check out the link below and you will see that we have written a radio directory for the traveler or PC operator. If you are an author, make your book visible with a link after writing a book review. See it works?! You know about our book, now people will know your book. With an avalanche of marketing ideas, this book has information on: writing an author biography, the usefulness of book reviews, author connect, the power of blogging, and creating lists on listomania. If these words are teasers, then read the book. Brent explains how Amazon is set up and by understanding it's infrastructure, you can accelerate book sales. It requires work but it's a worthwhile endeavor. Amazon is a little difficult to navigate but Brent Sampson's book is a chart to insure your books sales won't hit a rock. Rather, you'll be on course to becoming a best seller.

- Ken Fritz author of The United States Radio Directory: A Traveler's Favorite Companion 2008-2009

Must-Have for Anyone Selling on Amazon 5 by .. Jaimey Grant (Michigan)
This book is an invaluable tool for authors wanting some inside information on how the Amazon system works. Increased sales start with increased exposure and increasing your book's exposure on Amazon can be tricky. With tips and guidelines covering everything that was available at the time of publication--2007; some things have obviously changed--this book can help any author increase exposure of their print-on-demand or self-published work.

Brent Sampson has an easy-to-read, witty writing style that is refreshing in what basically amounts to a "self-help" book. He uses a simple ranking method to rate each tip he gives, 1 star=can be expensive & not recommended - 5 stars=inexpensive & highly recommended. He includes diagrams and figures and explains in simple detail each aspect of Amazon from the importance of each section on the Book Detail Page to the value of So You'd Like to...Guides. By implementing only a few of his suggestions, I have seen a marked increase in exposure to my own books (Betrayal, Heartless, Spellbound, & Redemption), as well as my profile page. I'm truly impressed!

Thank you, Mr. Sampson! 5 by .. Joseph L. D'Agostino (Hershey, PA)
The most beneficial tactic that I was inspired to incorporate into my publishing and marketing process was one that Mr. Sampson subliminally suggests pretty much throughout the whole book: Just do it!

Obviously, anyone who purchases this book is one who has a book that he or she wishes to publish. As such, that writer will more than likely be a newcomer to publishing, and perhaps be geared toward the "print-on-demand" method, as I was. Well, that's perfectly acceptable, and there is no dishonor in that. Your work will speak for itself; if it is worthy, if will merit acceptance.

Regarding the techniques and applicability of those techniques to the ever-evolving Amazon site, the new publisher simply needs to be on his or her toes and be flexible (for example, "Search Inside/Look Inside"). Being sharp and attentive, however, is expected of anyone who wishes to self-publish and self-market. Mr. Sampson, in his energetic way, prompts that approach. For me, this book was very informative, and it was a definite confidence booster.

Joseph L. D'Agostino, author of "Modern Music Systems: a new perspective on music scales, clefs, and chords"

For all authors, not only Print on Demand Self-Publishers 4 by .. LOTONtech (www.lotontech.com)
I stumbled upon the techniques described in this book myself, before reading the book. Contrary to what some reviewers have said, the techniques DO work -- as the sales rank of this book shows -- if only because "any publicity is good publicity".

Yes, in an ideal world, readers would inadvertently market your books via their Listmania lists, reviews, and so on; but you need to give the process a kick-start yourself as the author / publisher. Some readers might be put off by your self-promotion, but they would never have found your book in the first place without your own marketing efforts.

I think the techniques are legitimate, and not SPAM, providing you: DON'T review books you haven't read, DON'T include your book in Listmania lists of totally unrelated books, and DON'T engage in Sock Puppetry (pretending to be someone else).

As for the book itself:

The margins are wide and there are fewer words per page than most books. I wish I'd thought of that, as a way of increasing my page counts. The information is presented clearly, as you can see from the 'customer images' (which is another good marketing technique, and a nice touch).

Since it focuses on Amazon, this book is perhaps most relevant for authors who are self-publishing using CreateSpace -- because CreateSpace lists your books only on Amazon.com. Authors who have wider distribution (e.g. using Lulu) can think about how the same techniques apply to other retailers like Barnes and Noble. B&N have Essentials Lists, for example.

And now to explain the title of my review:

As Dan Poynter and others have noted in their books: even if you publish your book via a traditional publisher, YOU the author need to market your own book -- perhaps using these techniques. Unless you are already famous, most mainstream publishers will not market your book effectively. I know, because I've been there.

And now, my review would not be complete without:

Great Book for Selling Managed Services 5 by .. Prasad V. Rudraraju ()
I am a business owner interested in the Managed Services market space. I have read so much about Managed services but have not found a step by step guide on how to implement the managed services business plan or sell those services to clients. What I needed were step by step guides on both the topics. I was introduced to Erick's books by another associate. This book and "The Guide to a Successful Managed Services Practice" by Erick were exactly what I was looking for. Erick is not just a subject matter expert in Managed Services but has practiced and implemented his teachings and recommendations. He explains several key concepts and best practices on Managed Services, Deliverables, Pricing, How to identify clients, sell, support and maintain the services and build a long term win-win relationship with the clients. The coverage on How to Hire and Train your sales staff is worth its weight in gold. Included along with these 2 books are several forms, analysis tools and documents which make the sales process a whole lot easier with predictable results. These are the bibles for my managed services business and I refer them frequently. If you are serious about building a profitable managed services business, you must have these books.

This is what you're missing 5 by .. Mark S. Saum (Dallas, Texas USA)
At a recent VAR meeting I attended, several successful IT services CEOs were asked what one thing they did to build a stable successful business. Every single one of them said marketing was the key to their business' success.

Most small IT services firms don't market. That's why they stay small. If you want to grow a consistent services business, buy this book and start marketing now. You will recoup several times this book's cost with your first marketing campaign.

This book easily surpasses its meek title 5 by .. McTaz (Wisconsin)
Received this book at approximately 10:30am read the first few pages and cancelled my schedule for the day (first time I've done that in 13+ years in business) to read it from cover to cover in one sitting - and then again before the weekend was out just to ensure and assure I had gotten as much as I could before starting out on this amazing adventure. - Two (2) suggestions for you the reader of this review: 1) buy this book today - you would not be reading this review if your were not considering it - just do it. You will NOT be dissapointed. 2) Do Not skimp on the shipping you will kick yourself for every day you wasted!

Invaluable information for IT providers to SMB 5 by .. Philip Kenealy (Cedar Falls, Iowa)
This book is jam-packed with valuable insight to assist IT VAR's in selling and marketing to Small Business. It is required reading for my company's sales and marketing staff. I highly recommend it to anyone whether new to the business or an old veteran.

THIS BOOK IS FOR NON-FICTION AUTHORS! 3 by .. A. M. Power (Europe)
While the information in this book is useful, it is specifically aimed at non-fiction authors. In addition, NF authors aiming at the mainstream - NY top 10, Oprah etc. Much of the book is given over to the NF NY Top 10 game, sadly.

Authors like myself, who neither wish to write NF or subscribe to the the tiresome values of the mainstream - instead, wishing to write literature or fringe work - will be severely disappointed.

It's all you need 5 by .. Joseph Sugarman (Kihei, HI United States)
I'm often asked what one needs to do to get a book published and I always point to this book. In fact I order several for myself to pass out to friends.

Author 101: Bestselling Book Proposals 5 by .. Dr. Tami Brady (Calgary, Canada)
I admit it. I am a multiply published author and I still hate writing book proposals. For me, trying to get that letter to illustrate the best of me and my ideas without writing an entire dissertation is challenging.

Author 101: Bestselling Book Proposals is billed as a crash course in publishing success. The book is one of a series of books made for the Author 101 program. The authors have both published multiple bestselling books. Since they work in the publicity industry, they have some great insider knowledge on what really happens when you send that proposal.

This information contained in this book is invaluable. Anyone even considering writing a book should pick up a copy. The authors take the want-to-be writer through the submission process. They stress that writing is a business. Publishing companies are in the business to make money. You may have the greatest idea, the most well written novel, or the book that will end world hunger but if only your mother is going to buy a copy you don't have a chance. Your only chance at publication is to know what the publisher is looking for, knowing who will buy your book, and being ready to put in the effort needed to be successful.

Super Hype 2 by .. E. G. Defrin (Amenia, New York United States)
Not nearly the book I expected. It's suggestions are ones you can read in any number of "how to" books. A real disappointment

The Book Proposal Manual. 5 by .. Michelle Dunn (NH)
Just like their other books Rick Frishman and Robyn Freedman Spizman give you the best crash course in publishing success. If you are planning to write a book proposal, you CANNOT afford not to read this book and follow the tips and techniques that are clearly outlined for you. If you are an author who is about to deal with publishers, buy this book, read it and take notes, follow the advice and you are on your way. If you seriously want to increase your chances of obtaining a publishing contract, this book is a must have. You can write the greatest book ever, but then have a poorly presented proposal and your book and your proposal can languish at the bottom of a publishers pile of the many books and proposals they receive every day. Don't let this happen to you or your book! Get your book out there!
