Can't Be Read Without a Magnifier if You're Over 40 by .. Too Cold in Madison (Madison, WI, USA) There's a lot of very useful information in this book, but no one over about 40 will be able to obtain it without a magnifying glass. Even with my reading glasses, I find this very difficult to read with my 49-year old eyes. Without them it is impossible.
It sure was easier to read in Medical School 20 years ago. Since then, presbyopia has set in and progressed. I also think that the print size has been reduced over time to include more information without increasing the size of the book. Anyone who finds themselves needing reading glasses or contacts to read larger version. You'll have to carry a magnifying glass with you to use this one.
Unlike the reviewers who gave this book only one star because of the small print, I give it four because of the excellent content. One star deducted for not making the book a bit bigger. I think they could have made it a bit easier to read without compromising portability.
Sanford Pocket Guide: too small of print by .. Marc Nuss (Texas, USA) The print is just too small to make it worthwhile to those of us who don't have the vision of youth and don't want the hassle of looking at too small print.
Great resource, but get the bigger size to save your eyes! by .. Sara White (Salt Lake City, UT USA) this is a must have for MDs and pharmacists to treat any sort of infection. It has suggested treatments, doses, and durations. In addition, it has a section where microbes that are relatively uncommon and the drugs that treat them. It has renal dosages and common and severe side effects for the drugs. It also has a nice resources page for various items, including drugs that may prolong the QT interval, the CDC, AIDS, etc. I recommend getting the larger version, as sometimes I cannot see the small print.
beware of microscopic print by .. Anthony J. Kaiser () excellent reference book--BUT the copy i received is in microscopic print and therefore useless to me--I must have missed this fact in ordering--in the future MICROSCOPIIC print should be soelled out

Customer reviews no eye strain by .. Brian K. Fipps (oklahoma) The Sanford guide is widely accepted as a guidline for prescribing antimicrobials. The smaller pocket version is just too small to read. This is an identical version, only in larger print.
XXXX XXXX PA-C
The medium size spiral edition is the one to get. by .. CS () After seeing the size of the text and tables of the pocket size version, the spiral bound book was definetly a better choice because it can be read without a magnifying glass and still fits into my lab coat.
The best by .. Almost NP (Chicago) I had the pocket version and wanted to see if a larger version had more info or is just larger print. Don't get both as they are identical as far as I can tell. The larger one has a ring binding, so you can lay it flat and look at it. Also, for those over 40 the print is bigger. The larger one would fit in an oversize pocket, but mine are too stuffed with other stuff to fit the big version.
Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy 2008 by .. David M. Decker (Anchorage Alaska, USA) If you have only one reference for Antibiotic therapy this should be it.Although not always intuitive in it's layout, once you find what your looking for, it offers clear instruction and sensinable alternitives. A standard for all practices.
Sanford Guide by .. M. Girvigian (Los Angeles,CA) I have been using this guide as a reference for years, since I was in school. It's a great guide.

Product Description As the AIDS epidemic continues to explode around the world with uncontrolled spread antiretroviral therapy for HIV in the western world, where drugs are readily available, continues to improve. But significant long-term metoabolic and peripheral nerve toxicities have now emerged as complicating problems. Care of the HIV-infected patient is becoming increasingly complicated and today most patients are managed by teams of health care providers that focus on HIV/AIDS. This approach has been highly successful, with a marked reduction in mortality rate and diminished progression to symptomatic AIDS. The major challenge now facing clinicians is stimulating their patients to adhere to complex therapeutic regimens while managing their complicated toxicities, similar to management of other chronic diseases. As the complexities of care increase, it becomes increasingly difficult to develop simple functional guidelines. In this Sanford Guide, we present a wealth of emerging information, with appropriate references where possible, while trying to give rational guidelines for care. We have expanded our scope to include more information relavant to AIDS in the 3rd World. Since the field is rapidly changing, we try to anticipate emerging trends but realize that many of our suggestions may be superseded by new information. Laura Haggarty (Berry, KY USA) This is a great book. It contains hundreds, perhaps thousands of images of this great art pottery. The photos cover everything from the jardinieres to garden ornaments, from kitchenware to novelty planters, and vases of all sorts. The Sanfords include a number of old catalog sheets, which give us some perspective on various lines, and a pricing guide in the back (which one needs to bear in mind will be affected by the impact online auctions have had on all reference works price lists.) All in all this book is well worth the investment, especially if you are a fan of this wonderful pottery.

Product Description This book is a history of the Nelson McCoy Pottery Company from 1910 to 1989. The Sanfords new trademarked line finder is an alphabetical thumbnail picture of all of the lines made by the pottery. It includes an extensive table of contents and the family history of four generations of McCoys. There are four thousand pieces pictured in this big red book with identification by line name, mold number, year of manufacture, and color ware available. There are nearly 200 pieces of the private collection of the Cope family who were early designers of McCoy pottery. Over 500 cookie jars, over 100 wall pockets, and the dinnerware produced in the 50s, 60s and 70s. It is indexed and cross-referenced with a price guide. Customer reviews The Big Red Book of McCoy Pottery by .. Sires (It's a Toss Up Right Now) I never buy these guides for the price guides. This one has the price guide in the back of the book and in very small print. I discovered years ago that price guides were mainly for bragging rights: "I have this piece and it's worth umpty million dollars according to Sanford's". However they are good for relative value. And it would be a really good idea if more emphasis was placed on condition and it's effect on value. McCoy Pottery after all was mass produced and finding glaze pops, glazing defects and glazed over errors in production is just part of owning McCoy, but still the perfect piece is far more desirable than the imperfect, all else being equal.
Lots of good pictures and pictures of the bottoms of some pots-- oh, yes, this is very helpful because how items are finished on the bottom is some very valuable hints to who made it.
The only think I would like to see more of (given the fact that McCoy has become the target of fakers) is pictures of reproductions and fantasy pieces with the McCoy mark that are currently in circulation.
great book by .. Gladys Johnston (usa) this book tells you all the things you need to know about mcoy pottery
Great information, poorly organized by .. () This is the best book I have seen on McCoy pottery. It is very complete and has great pictures. I do not like the pricelist in the back of the book, alot of page turning needed. I copied the price pages to use while browsing the book. Highly recommended.

Over 4,000 pictures referenced to line/type, a picture line finder, glossary of terms, complete index and table of contents, it is easy to use for the novice as well as the expert collector.
