Samantha Doyle (USA) When I ordered this, I was expecting a small, slim little guide with a few tips and strategies. I mean, how much could there be to a computer game? So as you can imagine, I was surprised when I pulled out a thick, 366 page book that broke down everything you could ever need to know (and more) about The Sims 2 into sections, explaining and describing everything, in detail, from Sim genetics, pre-made neighborhoods and the pre-made families that inhabit them, NPCs, Sim memories, Sim death, building a house... okay, I'm confusing myself (and probably you). Here is the complete chapter/section list:
---
Part One: The Basics
-Chapter One: Getting To Know The Sims 2
-Chapter Two: Getting Started
Part Two: Creating Families, Neighborhoods, And Sims
-Chapter Three: Welcome To The Neighborhood
-Chapter Four: Create-A-Sim And Genetics
-Chapter Five: Simology
Part Three: It's A Lot Like Life
-Chapter Six: The Six Ages Of Sims: Playing The Generation Game
-Chapter Seven: Needs
-Chapter Eight: Aspirations, Wants, And Fears
-Chapter Nine: Skills
-Chapter Ten: Careers And School
-Chapter Eleven: Social Interactions
-Chapter Twelve: Family Life
-Chapter Thirteen: NPCs
-Chapter Fourteen: Community Lots
-Chapter Fifteen: Objects
-Chapter Sixteen: Disasters, Disease, And Death
Part Four: All In The Family: Sims In Action
-Chapter Seventeen: The Ex-Machina Family Blog
Part Five:
-Chapter Eighteen: Build Mode
-Chapter Nineteen: Story Mode And Moviemaking
-Chapter Twenty: Sim Autonomy
-Chapter Twenty-One: The Sims 2 Body Shop
-Chapter Twenty-Two: Custom Content
-Chapter Twenty-Three: Appendix A: Cheats

So, yes... if you play The Sims 2 at all, get this book. Even if you're just a casual player. I assure you, your Sim gaming experience will be much better. The only regret I have is not having this book around when I first started playing TS2.
Great buy! by .. Larry M. Mccormick () If you don't get this book you won't fully understand all the featues of the sims 2. Everything you need to know is there.

Product Description All new section on downloadable skins, objects, houses, and families Step-by-step info on creating families and homes, and dealing with disasters Advanced methods for keeping your Sims healthy and happy Cheat codes exposed Complete tables for every Sims career All new Political career diary: tells you how to shake the right hands on your way to the Mayor's mansion Customer reviews The Front Half of every other Sims Prima Guide. by .. James Wyatt (Bakersfield, CA US of A) Being "Revised & Expanded" I hoped would give extra info on the Game..
If you've ever purchased any Sims Guide for the Newer Expansion Packs, you basically have all this in the first half of the guide.
Prima assumes that you just bought The Sims & The Expansion Pack that you are buying the Prima guide for..
If no more expansion packs for Sims 1 are coming out, I would appreciate a large one volume Prima Guide, Instead of wasting paper on the first half of the guide, book after book after book...
Nothing but worthless or wrong information by .. () I ordered this book expecting something comparable to Prima's strategy guide for SimCity 3KU (which is huge, rich, and utterly indispensible). Not even remotely. I knew I was in trouble when the table of contents did not match the pagination of the book (and it was way off -- not just by a page or two). Most of this too-slim-for-the-price volume is pure filler: a grainy B&W photo catalog of all the objects Sims can buy (information which is readily accessible within the game, and of little strategic value anyhow), and way, way too many tedious B&W screenshots of the author's own gameplay, supposedly for illustration. It contains a few bits of useful information -- such as detailed tables of the Careers (jobs, hours, salary, promotion criteria) -- all of which and more is available on the Web. It also contains enough glaring falsehoods (e.g., that Sim kids can't use dishwashers) to suggest that the author played the game just long enough to crank out this piece of softbound kindling . If you're really interested in getting the most out of the game, do yourself a favor: give this book a miss and head for one of the thousands of fan sites and BBSs instead.
Sims guides ?? by .. () cool stuff, but how much of this isn't available free, online, if you bothered to look ?? A great purchase for the lazy (and Newbies - Bob or otherwise) but if you have the slightest motivation Google has cleared it all up for you already.
Good - But there is better by .. hsrameel (Kent, England) If you want this book - and you have any of the add on packs - buy The Sims: 5 Complete Strategy Guides, it is cheaper than buying any 2 of the other packs together, and you can get them special with sims unleashed(lets all see how long that lasts). But this book alone is a great buy, even with an add on pack.
Sims Guide: Looks good, does nothing by .. () This book isn't a very good guide. much of the stuff in it you can work out yourself. it is good for a first time player perhaps, but it can be boring with small print, lots of tables and charts, and only small black & white pictures. if youre an experienced player, give it a miss

Basic Guide. Outdated Now by .. Lori Ann (Las Vegas, NV) I found this book invaluable before being able to alt+tab out of EQ. Now it's a bit outdated and the information can easily be accessed online. I still reference this book for basic skill lists and basic recipes for tradeskills. The merchant lists for the cities that do have maps are pretty handy.
WOW - Be Sure To Get The "Revised" Version!! by .. DP (Palmdale, Ca USA) WOW!! This book nails the details of EVERQUEST, so if you are serious about playing this online game, be sure to pick up a copy of this book. There are about three versions of the book, so BE SURE TO GET THE "REVISED" VERSION (it has the red triangle in the lower left corner). Also, be sure to compare the races before setting up your character then be sure to obtain the applicable maps to maximize your efficiency. You will only regret this if you decide to jump into the game without them (easy to get lost). Good Luck with EVERQUEST and don't forget to order a copy of THIS book (be sure to have your buddies get a copy, too)!
A Necessary Evil? by .. Tiffany Holley (FL United States) Ah, the naysayers and complainers have been having their way with this book, I see. Yes, most of the information is available online, if you want to track it all down and complie it yourself. And yes, there are some changes to the game over time (usually pretty minor, let's be honest). But the value of having ALL of this in one place shouldn't be underestimated. Lists upon lists -- starting stats and skills for all the races and classes, lists of who gets what spell at what level, descriptions of spells, weapons and armor, character creation and basic play, maps of starting locations... not to mention must-read sections like "EQ Jargon," "Play-Nice Rules," and the fun role-playing element of "emote" commands! I don't use it every day anymore, but it's always at hand for starting up new characters, or when my casters are going to get new spells, or ?? Why worry about finding the information? This book is well worth the price.
Invaluable help to me, a Newbie by .. Thomas Carson (Richmond, Virginia USA) When I first started Everquest over 8 months ago, I did not have a clue as to what I was doing or what was going on. I deleted EQ and cancelled my account within my first 30 days. A little later I saw this book, so I purchased it, and within hours I was back on EQ and have not left it since. This guide is a great help for Newbies just starting out with Everquest. In my opinion it is a must have. Unless of course you want to spend all the time jumping around websites to find information to get you started. I found it very nice to have things laid out in a book form that I could read, and then go apply what I had just read. I highly recommend this book for the new Everquest player.

STOP YOUR WHINNING!!!!!!!! by .. Ashley Burdeshaw (Macon,GA USA) It looks like I will never have to look anything up on the internet for this game. as for everyone complaning there is no index they must not have looked through it good enough. if you check the very last page there is a content page with page numbers for each task, equipment, moves and abilities, characters, enemies, bosses, overworld maps, enviromental effects, weapons, dungeon and the legendary checklist. though even if it did not its nothing to cry about b/c the guides so straight forward that you should not even need any help.sure there is alot of content and going through it all is exausting but its better to be exausted then to be lost and miss something. Customer reviews Questionable Quality, but Otherwise Complete by .. J.S. Knapp (Harrisburg, PA) Ah the World of Oblivion.
Quite simply one of the most amazing games ever made, in my humble opinion.
The game guide - well, it could be better...
I had to return the first book - a series of pages were crimped and terribly misprinted. I would have returned the second copy but the retailer did not have another. The text in many of the sidebar sections of the pages are horribly blurred - in some sections completely unintelligible - sections that of course pertain to the main storyline of the game.
Aside from poor printing issues, the book contains an unbelievable amount of information. The book is huge! Especially helpful is an index, which allows you to quickly get help on some of the more obscure topics of Oblivion, such as the magical soul gems, buying houses, and owning horses.
What I especially enjoyed about this book was how it gave you a little "behind the scenes" insight into the story, the characters, and the expansive land that is Cyrodiil. On occassions when I'd get a little trigger happy and skip some dialogue, I could usually go back to the book to pick up the part of story that I missed.
Don't buy a shrink-wrapped copy. Leaf through it to make sure it's legible, then sit down and prepare to use a lot of spare time. Also, be sure to flip through the non-quest information towards the back of the book - there's some pretty neat stuff documented that without this book, most players probably wouldn't even know about.
I'm a Novice, but this Game is Unbelievable! by .. Jim M. (Virginia Beach, VA USA) I got this game for my teenage kids. They talked me into playing it (I don't play a lot of video games) and I got hooked. It is amazing how a person can do what he wants, go where he wants, when he wants in a game. The scenery and animation is breathtaking and the game interaction is exciting and enjoyable. I really like the feeling of total freedom of movement and choice of adventures to partake of. If you haven't played RPG before, you'll love this one.
Fun by .. E. Ledbetter (Mid-Atlantic) This game has great graphics and LOTS of detail. I really don't know how someone would play it without the Guide.
An Extended Manual to a great game by .. Dylan J. Myers () Now here's an extended manual we can all love.
Prima has always been very classy about their guides, even including a few shakey no-no's(initial guide's were not binded very well) they've always managed to put their own personal touches into certain guides, as if to let us now that this is one they enjoyed playing immensely.
Though it does NOT include the Shivering Isle's strategy this is STILL a great purchase for those picking up the game. One of the few guides that help in varying approaches to enemies and bosses.
Excellent book by .. Thomas J. Taylor (West Suffield, CT United States) An excellent guide. Complete and thorough. Very easy to find a section for later reference. The only thing I would've done different is made different colored edges for each section so I wouldn't have to use stickies for quick flipping.
