I have this book for my Terms and Concepts real estate course and I find it to be hard to understand. I need study aids to understand what the definitions mean. There are terms mentioned in beginning chapters that are not defined until later in the book and that is very confusing. IF the book was meant to be cumulative-chapters building on previous chapters, I am not finding that.

A great book - well organized, thorough, and well-written. Nice that the authors provide a comprehensive outline of key points after each chapter.
HOWEVER...
One star subtracted for failure to error-check the mathematics in the practice questions. The math here is simple; there is no excuse for the publisher not taking a moment to run the numbers through a calculator.

I have always enjoyed real estate investment, trends and opportunities, however, Paul's book simply opened my eyes to what creative things can be done. I enjoyed the real life stories or REAL everyday people, who took big steps, small steps, failed, succeeded and overcame obstacles. The book motivated me to explore options and to take real estate more seriously--even in todays market. This was a short, easy read--nothing complicated about it. This book delivers 4 stories about people who became millionaires. They give a some-what detailed timeline of how they got to be rich. I felt the book could be alot more detailed about the #'s and specifics the real estate investments involved in the stories. What I got from the book, "the road to being a millionaire isn't that interesting who as long as I thought"...basically the book was a confidence booster that normal people really do get rich.

Paul's book is perfect for the novice right up to the advanced investor. The real-life testemonials demonstrating the growth of each person from the start of their real estate investment journies, all of the trials and tribulations and how in short periods of time through perseverence they achieved their ulitmate goal of financial freedom. These were so valuable to me, as the tips and ways around traditional financing really opened my eyes and will take my own real estate investment company to the next level. I have read most investing books out there, and they all repeat the same vague message, never giving out the real "tricks" of the trade. This book actually does that. Thanks, Paul!

A friend gave me this book to read. Now that I think of it, he probably just wanted to get rid of it.
At best, it's a cursory review of trivial commercial real estate investment strategies--none of which are particularly creative or new. At worst, it's a fashion magazine with a somewhat attractive cover girl. Sorry. Big thumbs down.

I have read several investment books this summer. This book had lot of grammatical errors but did reveal a real life view of the author's success. Unfortunately, besides the apartment condo conversion there was not a lot of more specific examples or experiences. I was expecting to hear a little about shopping centers, office space among other things. The "Best" is a bit exaggerated to say the least.

What an easy read, couldn't put the book down. This is no dumb blond. She is honest with what she says, and thorough with the info. best of all as i said an easy read, while being technical. This woman is gifted. I am inspired and excited knowing that commercial real estate takes work, but the returns justify the amount of work involved. This book needs to be read and then read again and work with it... develop an outline for your self with her instructions, and get to work..... and forget luck, need luck resort back to her book.... after all luck is only the end result of good preparation and hard work....

It all became clear to me once I tripped over the twentieth punctuation or grammatical error. What publisher would let this book be sold without a decent proofreader? Ahh, self-published. Grammatical errors bother me more than they should, but what does it communicate about the content? The author has made millions in three short years, and has decided that although she is still learning, this is the best time to write a book for beginners. She also started her own TV show or infomercial (it's not completely clear), seminars, and offers herself as a mentor! Oh, and there's a blog here on Amazon.
I'm sure she is getting very wealthy. The hubris involved in naming this book, as well as the seminars and mentoring, is staggering. I'm new enough to this that I can't evaluate the content. But I know I can't completely count on it. Just look at that punctuation!

I agree with the book's title, and found it to be just right for anyone who, like me, is perched on the brink of jumping from residential to commercial investment properties. One of the most important things I learned from the book is how to avoid wasting money and time during the search phase. Monica has given me the knowledge and courage to make the leap into new geographic markets where the cash flow yield is more favorable, rather than trying to stay close to home where the real estate is pricey and cap rates are relatively low. Monica tells it like it is based upon her own real experiences! (Also, she responded to my email with a very informative reply within a day!)

I thought this was a well layed out book. It's broken into a section on the fundamentals of commercial real estate (understanding property types, data gathering, analyzing and evaluating property, commercial financing, etc) and the practical part (prospecting, doing a presentation and writing a contract).
There is a lot of good information, and this can make a great desk resource for looking back over terminology and comparing one property to another.

There has been no shortage in books on the topic for investors in commercial real estate, unfortunately, it does not seem as if many books have been written about the brokerage aspect of the business. I did a little research before I purchased this one, and have even read a couple that focus on the industry in general.
When I saw "The Fundamentals of Listing and Selling Commercial Real Estate' by Loren Keim, I ordered it immediately. I thought, "finally, a comprehensive resource that I can use to develop a base knowledge of the industry while I continue to learn and grow; this is fantastic!" I even read some of the passages online before I even purchased it, and was thoroughly impressed with its level of sophistication.
What sold me were the other reviews that I read before I ordered. They were all great, and the authors even shared some of the same problems that I had with regards to the other commercial real estate books. They had actually established a common ground with me.
Then I received it and began reading immediately. The level of detail is something I appreciated, but emphasizing every single type of retail opeations almost put me in a coma. Also, the quality of writing left much to be desired. I suddenly became suspicious about the rave reviews that I had read on this very website, and lo and behold, they were all written by people from Pennsylvania, the same area that the author is from. Pure coincidence? I doubt it, because all of the reviews were truly exaggerated.
I did provide three stars, just because of the pure limited availability of books on commercial real estate brokerage. So, if anyone is reading this and is an experienced commercial real estate broker with strong writing ability, there is absolutely an opportunity for you to enter this book niche!
