A perfect book to get you started in your digital audio endeavors.Filled with practical information about almost anything involved ,honest and well grounded.Chapters on acoustics, toolkit,setup, installation-configuration,simple songmaking guide, recording, effects,midi control,mixing-mastering, audio for videos and a DVD full of tools and extras, make it clear that it is a book to be used.

This book was disappointing. If you're looking for anything in depth look elsewhere. Plug ins and their use were given short shrift. A paragraph on the use of compressors, for instance. Not much more than you'd find in your user's manual. Suggestions for general use ok, but definitely not hands on. This book is meant for absolute beginners with emphasis on selling products that the author wants to promote or is being paid to promote.

Many of us out here have been working with and around audio for many years. As well, most of us have resisted the "I/O" demon, ha! After updating my equipment, a little at a time, I found myself in the digital domain; like it or not.
Upon review of this book "Real World Digital Audio" in EQ Magazine, I immediately purchased it, and got what I asked for; more work. Good work however, in that the author placed me in the driver's seat, gave me an easy to understand road map (I brought the cheetos)and it's been just great! Something I can use to honestly understand where I'm at with newer and evolving technologies, and put them to work in a positive and productive manner.

This is a book for musicians who need to understand the science of sound as well as the principles of digital music production including equipment, computers, and software. There is even an entire chapter dedicated to MIDI. If you are a musician who is interested in getting involved in computer music, this is a great place to start learning as well as getting your hands dirty with the actual business of creating digital music.
Chapter 1. Understanding Digital Sound - Covers the basic physical concepts of analog sound - the sine wave, pitch, amplitude, and perception. Next the book discusses how these concepts translate into digital form.
Chapter 2. Choosing Your Tools - Surveys the available hardware and software you'll need to produce digital audio. Included are photos of typical devices, their uses, their price ranges, and examples of some name-brand products. This section even tells you how to select a computer that is best for your needs.

Trump provided one amazing book (The Art of the Deal) and since then has given us one dreadful ego stoking book after another. Think Like a Billionaire provides Trump's thoughts on topics such as:

Most of the reader reviews find this book a one-star crap thing. I strongly disagree, because you should know by know The Donald will not take you by the hand and let you make your first million.
You want good advice? Better get his first book "The Art of the Deal" which teaches you some. But thinking like a billionaire is just like writing like a billionaire; he probably had two minutes to dictate per chapter.
Despite all this, it was fun to read. What goes on in a billionaire's life and it just make you dream about being succesful as well, as long if you're not succesful already. Fun to read, crap advise. Four stars.

This book is bold, informative, and well written. It feels like I've gone to college and found a fantastic professor that knows how to teach the subject well. He does not assume you already know everything. You will understand why stocks are priced the way they are, how to buy stocks without getting ripped off, how a company goes public and begins to sell stock, how to know enough about where a stock is going to make your own informed decisions. I've always wanted to get my feet wet in the stock market, but never felt confident enough. Now I'm swimming with the big fish! Buy this book.

Having read several investment books, this book is a much needed shot in the arm in that it opens the doors to the type of independent thinking that the mutual fund industry doesn't want individual investors to engage in. Cramer's book encourages readers to move beyond what may be an effective but somewhat restrictive investment philosophy, and utilize several strategic approaches to building wealth in stocks. I never could have guessed that Cramer could do so much to help me see investing in a different light and ultimately help me understand investing much better.

Dr. Phil Getting Real by Dr. Phil McGraw is easy to listen to and filled with excellent advise for becoming a better marriage partner or gaining the confidence to leave an unfixable relationship, and how to tell the difference. Dr. Phil, who is highly qualified in the field of psychology, has the ability to "get down where you live" and talk in plain ( an often explitive four letter words) language so that you know you are not listening to some Ph. D. who is way over your heads. I came across this book at Barnes & Nobles and since it was under the Rich Dad banner I gave it a shot. I liked the section of dispelling the myths of investing in multifamily units, i.e. "you gotta start small", and "you need the Midas Touch".
The author discusses several projects that he has worked on and breaks down the process into several key steps.
Truthfully, it's not a "be all, end all" book for apartment investing, but I liked the fact that he explained his methodlogy in a simple, easy to digest fashion.
I invest heavily in single family residences and tri/quad-plexes, since the rental market is hot(smokin' like Texas BBQ) and sellers are deeding me houses at a rate of 5 per week. Apartment buying in this market AND for the forseeable future is going to be the next big thing.
You need to seriously educate yourself about this subject.

I read TR's previous two books while trying to save my 16-yr old marriage. I even went to see him for a full-day (w/ my ex-) and a half-day. Full cost: $11,000. In hindsight, TR punched through the psychobabble of 4 previous therapists and hit home on how both of us were sabotaging the relationship. Our marriage was one of those were the woman was running from self-analysis and I sought the safe-space of a therapists office. Net net, she didn't take his advice and I did (to be more honest and less nice) - which he had predicted; two months later we separated and I am now in a much more intimate, loving relationship with my second wife.

Mr. Real's first 2 books are useful in understanding male depression and how that blocks and prevents men from finding intimacy. However as he says himself in this book his message boils down to-be nice to each other. Rather like "Dr. it hurts when I do this." "So stop doing it." Also as other reviewers noted -it really sinks into self-aggrandisement. Beware when anyone seeking to "enlighten" you begins to suggest they have the TRUE knowledge, and only They have it. Save your money.

The enduring theme of this work, which promises so much to women, revolves around men being to blame for the failure of modern relationships. It seems that we have neglected to alter ourselves to the necessary extent. If we did then we could better meet the needs of the liberated woman. Women want more out of relationships today so...men must give it to them. Why is that the case? In every equitable transaction, the side who asks for more must offer more in exchange. This leads us to ask, what do modern women offer men that is superior to what their predecessors proffered in the past?
Take your time mulling that one over because the man who enters into a marriage contract in 2008 faces far more risks than he ever did at any other point in history. In all likelihood, his wife will be infinitely more sexualized, far more materialistic, blatantly more narcissistic, and far less motherly than any woman who bonded with his ancestors. Given this eventuality, is it any surprise that modern men are increasingly reluctant to commit?
Twenty-first century women not only fail to render a quid pro quo they also--by demanding that men retain their traditional function as objects of status and wealth while also adding new requirements such as males be Chatty Cathy's and neatly-trimmed launderettes--have inflated their price beyond what the market can possibly pay. Today's woman may describe herself in glowing terms, but a look at the chassis should alert potential customers that what is labeled a Lexus was actually made by Daewoo.
Asking men to alter their consciousness in the hopes of accommodating women is preposterous. Such a wish should reveal to the direct sex that society's advocacy for equality was a ruse all along; nothing but a dense smog concealing a desire for female supremacy. Lots of wisdon between these pages, and the nice thing is one member of a couple can use it alone if necessary. Includes the best explanation and discussion of "boundaries" I have ever read. Though the information is marriage specific, the skills discussed apply to all relationships, including non-romantic ones. Personally I wish there were no "case histories" included because the reader knows they have to be fabricated to protect privacy anyway, and I think the theories speak for themselves, so I skip over most of them. Otherwise, a highly recommended read.

While in no way you can get the entire view of the real estate exam in a book, this audio series provides a good intro to the topic. If you're starting to study real-estate or looking at getting your exam, this is a great book (audio book) to get started with.

I find these CDs to be a great learning tool in ccmbination with the book. This product is exactly as described, it reviews the highlights the chapters in the book. I am in the habit of listening to the current chapter on the way to class for preparation and quick review. I will often start at chapter 1 and listen to all the chapters, through to the actual chapter of study. I am determined to pass the State Exam! Great learning tool to refresh the memory.

As a retired University Professor, I find a certain simpatico with Newt's approach. He may be all the things outlined on the back dust cover, but, in my opinion, he is first an educator. His logic is clear, his motivation is strong, and his presentation provides an easy to read learning experience. In Real Change, he provides a blue print for progress. I find it ironic that change was the buzz word in the 2008 presidential race, but never articulated as well as Dr. Cingrich did in this work. I am particularly impressed with Chapter 5, Failure in Education. Here he explains what works and what does not work in learning. One thing that works in education is money,not money thrown without aim at school districts, but rather money for merit-based pay and incentives for new teachers. Why should the best and brightest avoid teaching because it does not pay enough? Why should school boards across this nation consist of members who's last day in the classroom was the day they graduated? Our high school graduation rates are, to quote Newt, abysmal failures. What are these kids going to do for a living? In our ever increasing entitlement society, who is going to help pay their way? You are. The message is very clear, reward works. The Psychology of Learning has clearly shown that rewarded behaviors get stronger, and unrewarded behaviors cease. We need the bureaucrats (school boards) to sit in the classroom and experience the difficulty of the task.
Real change paints problems in America with a fine brush. The book was written before the severe cycles in the stock market in 2008, before Eliot Spitzer embarrassed a nation, and before gasoline approached $5.00 per gallon. It was written while the SEC and congress were failing us. Greed has been with us forever, but had some of the changes suggested in this book been heeded eariler (capital gains and other taxes reduced), the December 2008 economic outlook might be different.
Like his other books including Days of Infamy (with William R. Forstchen), and A Contract with the Earth (with Dr. Terry Maple) Real Change is an easy read, full of research to back up statements, and a real contribution to America.

Newt covers a wide variety of issues that are doing nothing but hurting America as a whole. He explains why these issues need to be changed. This book is excellent because it shows what problems plague America and how the people can go about correcting the problems. Newt wrote the book to appeal to both Democrats and Republicans, and it is well worth reading.

These audio books are wonderfully read and makes it seem like you are watching a movie. I have listened to them over and over... they are captivating. I would recommend a full cast drama reading over any typical audio book reading.

The audio version of Narnia is one of my favorite things :). I have found that several ages enjoy them, not only children, my whole family has listened to them several times, and I even took them to work and my co-workers listened to them. They probably would be some what scary for young children.
Aslan the lion in this book is such a wonderful picture of Jesus, I have come to love Him more, such wonderful analogizes, that challenge you and cause you to think about life. The only complaint I would have is that some times I think Aslan's voice is a little silly, not quite deep enough, but that's my only complaint.
