I purchased this book for a class I was taking. Fire Officer 100. The book was well written, easy to read and understand. I recomend both the book and the class to anyone that is interestred in becoming an Officer in their fire dept.

The best Fire Officer I and II book available. 5 by .. Chris R. Thoms ()
After reviewing the two other books of this type available, this one is by far the best. The chapter on CRM is what makes this one heads and tails above the others. If you are thinking of buying this book to read, don't think about it anymore. Buy it!

Product Description

This book covers the four forms of fire: diffusion flames, smoldering, spontaneous combustion, and premixed flames. Using a quantitative approach, it presents an ideal introduction to the scientific principles behind fire behavior. Individual sections thoroughly discuss such vital issues as heat transfer, ignition, flame spread, fire plumes, heat flux as a damage variable, and more. Formulas help the student examine fire from a quantitative standpoint. While explaining the science of fire with a precision found nowhere else, the text applies that science to fire safety design and investigation. An excellent book for courses in fire science, architecture, and engineering alike. Great Product. Superfast Shipper. Thanks. 5 by .. Aaron Vinson ()
Book was in great shape. I would love to do business with you again. Great Product.

Principles of Fire Behavior 3 by .. Brian Keller (Las Vegas NV)
The book has never heard of "laymans" terms, so be prepared for some tough reading. Our teachers feel we should burn it but it is the ONLY book written for the course material.

Principles of Fire Behaviour 5 by .. Valeriano Barril (Pisa, Italy)
As the first word states in the title, the book offers a wide overview on fire behaviour. Personaly the book represented the introduction to the Heat Transfer Class during the MSc in Fire Safety Enginnering at UUJ. Providing me with the necessary fundamentals it was a great help to approch further studies of scientific papers.
The book is very well written. It is kept to a simple level for the obvious purpose of providing the student with basic undestanding of complicated issues. From my personal point of view, the simplicity and fluidity of the book are an huge advantage of the work itself, at least among all those which I have came accross.
Strongly advised for those who are approching a fire enginnering degree and also for those professional which need a mental stimulus for solving fire engineering issues. Very interesting: Ignition, Radiation, Fire Behavior, Plume Behavior and the articles collection of fire investigation at the end of the book.

lacks fundamental explinations 1 by .. Radio ()
Being in the fire service for nearly 10 years and an instructor, this book does well for individuals with a decent level of fire knowledge. However, for the fundamental student or beginner fire fighter, this book lacks serious explinations of the basic concepts. This book has done nothing but confuse students with it's constant bombardment of calculations without providing clear explinations.
Outside sources are constantly used to supliment what this book lacks.
If it's used for a begining Fire Engineering or as a suppliment book for Fire Behavior, I would recommend it. But the lack of the fundamentals that it mystically tries to build on, is extremely frustrating and lacks any sort of foundation.
Advanced levels - I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5
Beginner levels - I'd give it a 1 out of 5

I recommend this book for entry level fire related people! 5 by .. ()
I recommend this book for those who want to start studying the reality of fire behavior. This is really well-written book! The first description of candle flame is very interesting. You can work the flame behavior experiment from his description. It's fun!

This new book, addressing our nation’s efforts at fire prevention and the importance of reducing fire loss, helps readers understand the "whys" and "hows" of fire prevention and protection. Coverage includes the origins of our national, state, and local fire prevention efforts and makes the case for increased emphasis on the prevention of hostile fires. Great info on fire streams 4 by .. Mark Cohen (Bakersfield, CA)
This book is a bit dated in its tone but the content is first rate and most of it is still cutting edge. I highly recomend this book to anyone who wants to study fire streams or tactics in an in depth way. If you only plan to read one book on tactics this is probably not the one I would recomend, John Norman's Fire Officers Handbook of Tactics is, but if you plan to seriosly study the art of firefighting stratagy and tactics, then this work should be considered a must read.
