IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!
boosts creativity by .. Thania M. Reyome (Fulton, NY USA) This is perfect for taking a kids interests and helping them to make and decorate thier own new Pokemon.
cute - but for older kids by .. Jenilee S. Preston (Illinois) i got this for my 6yr old nephew and he loved it but it was too advanced for him.
Son's drawing perfect Pokemon! by .. Shilom (MI) My son loves this book. He's really into drawing and loves the how-to-draw books, and this was no exception. Within minutes he was whipping up poke'mon from the pages of the book onto paper and making his own comic book of them. Great for any pokemon fan who loves to draw!
Gameboy Alternative by .. Lynn Lyon (Coppell, TX United States) My 5 year old loves this book. If he had his way, he would play Pokemon all day every day on his game boy. This is a nice alternative that taps his imagination and creativity. He also tries to get others to draw with him so they have a group activity that is relatively quiet, until they start describing the battles. I highly recommend for any child who already loves other Pokemon activities.

Product Description Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. Ash's Pokemon journey has taken him through some incredible regions, and now they're all in one book! This deluxe handbook includes facts & figures for every Pokemon ever. That's over 480 entries--packed with inside info and special tips. It's truly the ultimate guide for every Pokemon fan. Customer reviews My 8 year old LOVES this book! by .. P. Bono (New Orleans, Louisiana) Let me start with the fact that I know nothing about Pokemon... And more than likely, I will never ever know anything about it other than my son thinks Pokemon is cool. So, if he likes it, so do I!
This book was one of his Christmas gifts that I had purchased for him and he was so excited when he saw it. He said that it helps him beat the Pokemon game on his Nintendo DS because he now knows their weaknesses and strengths (apparently while playing the DS, a player can chose certain weapons and personalize fights?).
To rate this book, I would have to give it a 5 star simply because my son likes it so much.
Definitely a Pokemon essential. by .. Kimber (Windham, ME United States) My son has been a Pokemon afficionado for a couple of years now so he very discerning in his selection of related material. The thing he likes about this book is that it has ALL the Pokemon in it along with information about them. A year or so ago he bought the Pokemon Diamond & Pearl Pokedex: Prima Official Game Guide Vol. 2 (Prima Official Game Guides) which is, understandably, extremely detailed and in depth. He prefers that book to this one, but it's still worth getting for the true Pokemon fan.
Pokemon: Ultimate Handbook by .. Eagle Vision (Southeastern United States) My daughter has interests in many popular childhood games. I reviewed the content of this book to determine the appropriateness for children. The language is appropriate for children of all ages. There really is no educational value for this book, unless you consider memorizing each character, as my child has done.
This book is in full color and is an extensive catalog of every Pokemon character. The illustrations are fabulous. The text is organized into alphabetical order with the proper name, code name, pronunciation, possible moves, type of character, height, weight, and region of origin is detailed. The forms by which each character evolves (or does not evolve) is illustrated and what the respective names are for each stage is depicted. Special facts about each character are also given.
My daughter loves this book. How does she use it? She looks at the photographs and draws her favorite characters. She has also memorized the names of each character, special moves, and evolution of characters.
VERDICT
This makes a great gift or stocking stuffer for your Pokemon fan.
Gerald's Favorite by .. Christine M. Gagne (The Great State of Maine) My son reads and reads and reads this book. He is seven and is a bit of an advanced reader. This book is a MUST for any young Pokemon fan. My son did find a few errors (evolved forms or photos mis-named); perhaps he'll be an editor someday! Anyway, there is a great variety of words and reading it together gives him the opportunity to discover some new "big words"!

Peggy (Columbus, OH) My 11 year old daughter is a huge fan of all the Pokemon DS games and would never be without a guide for each game. I think it just helps her understand the game better, saves a lot of frustration and just provides interesting insight into the game. If you have a semi-serious to serious gamer, spend the few extra bucks for the guide. They will love the game even more if you do.

Customer reviews My 10 year old son loves this book by .. Nathan's Mom (West Virginia) I purchased this book as a present for my son's 10th birthday. He loves it. We took it on a family trip and found the Pokemon together. It really made the trip go faster. He was especially happy because this book had some additional pages than his friend's edition of the book.
well worth the money by .. Tonya M. Clapp (New Richmond, WI) This was a wonderful addition to the daycare library. It has been a favorite of many if not all the children. Thanks for having it in your selection. I can't wait until the newest edition comes out.
EXCELLENT GIFT FOR POKEMAN LOVERS by .. Edward A. Medman (Tarzana, California United States) THE YOUNG MAN FOR WHOM THIS GIFT WAS PURCHASED, LOVED IT!!! HE SHARED HIS EXCITEMENT WITH US AND WAS VERY PROUD OF HIS ABILITIES.
UNQUESTIONABLY A GREAT GIFT!!

Wow, I'm surprised this is still in print! by .. The Unknown (Seattle, WA) I got this book what must have been ten years ago now (Dang, I was six! Time flies) and I absolutely adored it!
The illustrations, from what I can remember, were very good and in some cases very funny. In the humorous sort of way.
Each page was challenging for me, but not so hard that I'd throw a fit.
I think my old copy is somewhere in my attic, I've been meaning to pull it out for my younger brother, but now I don't have to. =)
Note, though, that this book was made before any newer Pokemon were created, before the release of the Gold/Silver versions of the Pokemon games. Only the original 151 Pokemon are in this one, some of which I don't think are even in the newer games.
Excellent for young Pokemon fans by .. David Zehner (Elmhurst, IL) My 4 & 6 year old boys are huge Pokemon fans and loved this book. They devised their own games for finding their favorite Pokemon.

Customer reviews They keep getting worse by .. Bad A (Iraq) I bought this game with the hope that they had done away with some of the overly childish and frankly lame additions that were included in the emerald and ruby versions i.e. the pokemon contests for instance. They should have stuck with what they had going good with gold and silver. those games simply added to the strategies possible and made battling monsters that much more exciting. These games are getting further and further away from what they were originally, Battling cool looking monsters and becoming the strongest trainer the world has ever seen. Now it's all about dressing up your pokemon(seriously!) and taking them for walks in a park(couldn't make this up) and baking(baking....yeah that's what I thought too...) they have added in a lot of pokemon that are about as intimidating as a newborn kitten. I feel like less of a man for playing this. Granted there are some cool additions, like the underground were you can go hunt for burried treasure and find fossils and stones and acient plates ect. as well as a couple of cool mythical pokemon. But overall, unless you wish you could dress up your pokemon or bake some poffins with your friends on wifi than I would suggest that this game isn't for you
Buy the nintendo power version by .. J. Martinez (California) This guide is bad and lacks much information in the maps, they should've made it as good as the nintendo power version or not at all. I give it two stars because it told me where to go at one point where i was really stuck.
Buy the NP version
Not that great unfortunitly by .. Samantha Stephens () Ok, I bought this guide and while it does tell you where to go and how to do things it is kind of hard to understand because you go back and forth between the towns in some parts of the game. It makes it really confusing use it when they are all put in sequence of town when you arent really doing anything in that town until later and then later it doesnt show up you have to look back and figure out where you need to go from there.
The other main reason I bought this book was because it said that it had a full pokedex. I loved the good old days when a pokedex ment you knew the pokemons evolution levels and what level they would gain a new move. It would tell you what TMs that pokemon could learn and all that. This guide is not for you if that is what you are looking for! It basically just showes the pokemon and what page # to find them on. And that doesnt help either because it doesnt really tell you much about them on those pages either.
So in my opinion this guide is somewhat usable but very confusing and doesnt give the right information. I would try nintendo power guides instead.
Very helpful, but confusing at the same time by .. Mark J. Koppisch () The good thing about this guide is that it tells you what to do. It also has tons of stuff in the back of the book like contests and where to find all items, HMs and TMs. I would never have beat the game without this guide. The bad things are that the pokemon trainers and their pokemon are not listed and the order of events are way too confusing. Many are out of order and some events should be listed toward the end of the book, such as "Unfinished Business". Overall: OK
Useless by .. Nicolas Soria (Grand Ledge, Michigan United States) The only benefit of using this guide is that it's portable. It is vague and the page order doesn't exactly follow story order. The guide doesn't give any pokedex info, which IMO is the most important part of the game. Instead it focuses on general aspects of the storyline, contests, battling, and other parts of the game that are explained IN THE GAME.
There is no reason to buy this book, instead, buy the second volume/pokedex of the guide. If you get stuck in these games, instead of wasting your money on this vague and confusing guide, go to Google and search for "Pokemon Diamond Walkthrough"

Product Description Every good Trainer knows that each Pokemon is unique. That's what makes them a challenge to battle--and a challenge to draw! But if you're determined to sketch 'em all, then this book is a great start. It's packed with tips to get you drawing the newest Pokemon characters. So sharpen your pencil and get ready to go! Customer reviews too advanced for 7 year old by .. BJ (Florida) The book is great and very descriptive. They have to know a bit about Pokemon though, the colors, etc. Basic figures to draw start with shapes and then expand on that form. It was too challenging for my 7 year old son who loves to draw. The instructions were a bit advanced. Maybe older kids!
A big hit with my Nephew!! by .. Mommakay (Alabama) My children and my nephew are really into Pokemon right now. This was a BIG hit with my nephew at his 6th birthday party. I will say he is already a little artist which is what inpsired me to buy this particular item. I think any child who likes Pokemon would enjoy it if they like to draw, doodle, color, et.

Customer reviews WOW!!! Very Impressive Book!! by .. MommaMiia (Portland, OR USA) My son is going to flip when he gets this for Christmas!! He has Aspergers Disorder, he loves reading stats and he's crazy about Pokemon!! He reads at a much higher level than the average his age. This book has so much info in it, I'm going to have a hard time getting him to put this book down. I highly recommend this book to any Pokemon fan!! I went through tons of books and reviews and as far as I'm concerned, this is the best Pokedex out there. Every Pokemon is in this, including more info than one could imagine in one book. It puts the smaller Pokedexes to shame!
It is what it says... by .. Will Carpenter (Canandaigua, NY) The only problem I have with this book is that it doesn't contain a walk through, or extended tips about the Pearl and Diamond games.
It is a very detailed pokedex though.

It's not just a Pokedex... by .. Ragansolon Corcui (Mass, USA) WOW! This is the best guide for Pokemon Diamond and Pearl by FAR! It's not just a Pokedex, but rather much more! It not only contains information on 490 Pokemon, (Yes, 490, unfortunatly it lacks total information on Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus) but it also has CRUCIAL information about what to do after you've beaten the Pokemon League. Up to that point, it's all easy, just go along with the story. BUT once you've beaten the Pokemon League, everything in the game suddenly becomes unclear. You might KNOW there's more legendaries to catch, but you might not know where. (For Example, I had not the First Clue about going to Turnback Cave for Giratina, but when I got the guide, It led me straight there!) You might KNOW about the Battle Tower, but not who the Tower Tycoon is and when you battle him. You might KNOW about Cresselia and Fullmoon Island, but not how to get there or what to do once you've seen Cresselia. You might KNOW about Pokemon, but not at what exact level they evolve, or what exact level they learn a specific move, or if they learn it at all. All this is CRUCIAL information that you will find EXCLUSIVELY in this guide. And that's not it, either. In case you don't know which region a Pokemon is from, there is a Table of Contents in Alphabetical order at the VERY BEGINNING, making it extremely easy to find pokemon. Also, a 2 page map containing all of Sinnoh as well as the names of all the cities and places of interest. Also tells you all of the items you may find in a certain place, AND information on EVERY ROUTE AND CAVE about things you can do there BEFORE AND AFTER beating the Pokemon League, again, more CRUCIAL information EXCLUSIVE to this guide. And again, there's more-you can find information on EVERY HM and TM in the back of this book, as well as all the contest moves, items, where to get every TM, where to get each item, and a Pokemon Weakness easy look-up chart with the weaknesses AND RESISTANCES of all 490 pokemon, (yes, remember? 490...Arceus, Darkrai, and Shaymin were unknown when this guide was released) and information about where to capture any Pokemon in the Pal Park, with a detailed map of it, and how rare they will be, aka how much time it will take to catch them, prizes at the Pal Park, etc. ALL CRUCIAL INFORMATION. Also tells you where to catch ANY pokemon in the game, (as long as you CAN catch it) INCLUDING what route for Pokeradar, and descriptions to every pokemon from both Diamond and Pearl. Also a comparison of the few pokemon you can't catch in Diamond, and of the few you can't catch in pearl, as well as the list of the 50 pokemon you can not catch in Sinnoh at all, (Previous starters and legendaries, event pokemon, with a FEW unexpected ones; Tropius and Tangela...) a berrydex, all pokemon abilities and what they do, pokemon personalities, natures, what wild pokemon hold what item, A TON of information on the Underground, and that's just the Pokemon Data Lookup section of the book! There's still the Capture Guide, which is about 2 times as thick, and the Post-Game Scenario! This book is a MUST For Diamond and Pearl Fans!

Kids 6 and 8 love it by .. MOMofTwo (Granite Bay, CA) The kids just love this book. Amazing how they can sound out each name and read all about these characters. This book tells about the height and weight of the characters so my guys have been measuring and weighing things to get a better idea of how big the characters are. They chat about the different powers and who evolves into what. It is very cute to see my boys enjoy something together. I really feel that their reading skills have improved as well as their understanding of measurement and weight. No, it is not a science, history or math book but they are developing a love of reading and learning a little too!
A must have for Pokemon collectors! by .. S.A.L. (Michigan) This was the second copy I purchased for my son. He looked at the other one so much it fell apart. If your child likes Pokemon, this is the book to buy.

Product Description The manga series tie-in to the newest generation of the Pokémon collection! Set in the country Sinnoh, the story follows the adventures of Hareta, a young boy raised in the wild with Pokémon. Recruited by Prof. Rowan, he decides to become a Pokémon trainer after catching his first tame one, Piplup. He and the Professor's assistant, Mitsumi, set off on a quest to find Dialga, one of the three "Legendary" Pokémon, which is rumored to be able to control time. But Team Galactic, lead by villainous Cyrus, is hunting for Dialga too. Customer reviews Pokemon Adventure is at it again! by .. Reader (Birmingham, AL) For those of you who don't know, Pokemon Adventure follows a less childish plot. Still childish, but THE ATTACKING MAKES SENSE!
In the novels, characters will use their surroundings, and rapid switching of pokemon, along with attacks in cunning ways not presented by the show. Moves are often used in new ways. For example, in this manga, Mars, a leader of the evil forces, uses scratch from a pokemon to turn off the power, and then uses Zubat's supersonic so he's the only one who can see.
Comedy is also better. There's a piplup joke that's pretty much the team rocket "Blasting off" joke, only funnier. The rival also falls in love with any girl he meets, much like brock from the anime, if brock fell in love with enemy girls and Misty/May.
Overall, it's WAAAAAY better than the Anime. Things actually make sense. So if you're a pokemon fan that's too cool for the child's anime, this is good. There's nothing bad, really, so it'll amuse the little fans too.
Pokemon by .. Ed White Elementary (USA) Although it's a manga series targeted for kids around 9 to 12, I actually enjoyed the panels and dialogue. Not to mention all the amazingly funny scenes there were. (Hareta biting the grunt's butt) This first volume definitely had me wanting more from this author. I can't wait for the third volume to come out!
