I believe this book is perfect for anyone exploring the emerging trend of cameraphone photography. If you are skeptical of this trend, I believe this book will be even more relevant for you. Imagine any photography 101 book you've purchased in the past and now imagine it was written for users of camera phones. The authors do a great job of covering many aspects of the topic from "equipment" specs to shooting tips, and provide online references that will further validate that "mobile photography / cameraphone photography" is emerging and hear to stay.

I would imagine that there are more camera phones than any other. Based on the photos posted on Flickr (and other photo sharing sites), there are a few of us that could use some advice on how to take better pictures using our camera phones, especially me.
The Camera Phone Book: How to Shoot Like a Pro, Print, Store, Display, Send Images, Make a Short Film by Aimee Baldridge, with photographs by Robert Clark, is a small book loaded with information on nearly every aspect of your camera phone. All of the photos in the book were taken by Robert Clark, using his camera phone, which helps to show you that you can take good pictures. Maybe not of the caliber of Clark's, but you will have the tools.

Baldridge packs a lot of information in 158 pages. As this is thin book, it is a perfect addition to your computer bag as a reference. I never thought about my camera phone, but Chapter 1 will show you that it is not a minor feature, especially if you are going to use it as your primary camera. How to frame and think about your photos is a major part of Chapter 2. Don't just point and shoot; lighting, background, and framing play a large role in a good picture. Chapter 3 will provide you with the tools for printing and storing your photos as well as improving them. Online communities, blogs, and mobile photo sites are the leading topics of Chapter 4. Some of the sites are well known, but others are specifically geared to users of camera phones. Finally, if you have issues with your camera phone, Baldridge provides plenty of tips and hints to resolving your issues in Chapter 5. Each chapter is loaded with web links; you will probably spend a lot of time surfing the listed sites. Including the photos of Robert Clark, all taken with a camera phone, shows the reader the possibilities and reinforces the text.
I get lucky with my camera phone (and my digital camera). Using this book, I should take away some of the luck and replace it with a little skill. At least I will have a better understanding of how to take a good picture. That, for me, makes this a worthwhile book. But it also opens the door to photo editing tools and online sources for additional information as well as sites dedicated to camera phone art. Small as it is, this book covers a lot of ground and does so quite well; from choosing your camera phone to participating in online communities, this book has nearly all aspects of your camera phone covered. But if you want to take away one thing away from this book, Baldridge's "Ten Rules of Thumb" for taking better pictures is worth the price. This is an excellent guide to your camera phone and one that will help you get more out of it.

Dont be deceived by the size of this book. It is information packed and written in a concise brief manner that makes it an easy afternoon read. Almost everything you ever need to know about how to fully exploit your camera phone is in this book. It contains lots of URLs to websites that will enhance your photo taking. This is by far the best book I have read. Reading the book is fast. But researching the websites and trying out the new things will take a life time.

Originally saw this book in Wired . It showed me how to get the most out of my camera phone, and got me to look into a higher res camera phone. If I could, I'd give it 4.5 stars, It fails to get 5 stars because it's a bit on the short side.

Written in an interview/conversational format as a man who earns his living through telephone sales learns how we establish rapport with others, effective communication skills and how to overcome his personal phobia of the telephone, etc. I have given copies of this book to others, who thoroughly enjoyed it and they in turn have also given copies of the book to others. Communication and understanding of what produces desired interaction in this language driven world of ours is looked at critically with some very helpful, easily understandable and useful suggestions and/or ideas. The reader also learns about how the mind processes information and in so doing assists the reader to tear down walls that separate us as individuals from others in the very human desire to make worthwhile human connection with others. Enjoy the fun of learning how one's primary/preferred neurological stimulus affects our every day decisions and even the words we primarily use. I very highly recommend "The Phone Book" by Zarro, et al. to anyone who communicates and desires to do so more effectively. This short, easy read paperback book is packed with facts and information that is a must to all. A true classic! Like his other books by master teacher Richard Zarro, this is a welcome addition to anyone's library.

I recommend this book totally. Everyone should read it. We can send video back from Pluto, yet Americans imagine that telephony can't be used against them. We have a culture of denial that assumes technology is benign and that no one wants to use it against us. We are somewhat willing to distrust computer security because computers are recent additions to our life. We aren't at all willing to distrust our phones. They keep us connected. Our lives revolve around them. They are the guardians of our secrets. And, after all, the fear of wiretapping laws deters the crime... Americans need to face the reality of the techology arrayed in this book, and stop believing this kind is harassment is rare. We need books like this to tell us this equipment is not sci-fi. It's cheap, easily available, and easy to use. It's use is not limited to three-letter agencies. It's in the basements of neighbors and co-workers. Radio technology is easier to learn than hacking, which we take seriously, and cheaper to implement. It's even more innocuous. Any people who are worried about internet safety should think about it first. We think electronic voyeurism is rare. We just don't know we're victims. It's a crime commited in secret without obvious clues...but that doesn't make it harmless. The same technophiles who sit alone in a room violating your privacy with a computer are very likely to hook a scanner to it... I enjoyed Mr. Shannon's heart-felt discussion of escalating Federal wiretapping/eavesdropping laws. I believe he would agree that only personal awareness and consumer-driven demands for increased privacy will supply safer technology. Agencies at any level aren't often willing to protect average individuals from invasion. Increased Federal "protection" will take our chance to protect ourselves away.

I just bought this address book yesterday and I absolutely adore it! I love traveling and the "phone booths from around the world" motif suits me perfectly. Each entry has a place for name, date of birth, location, land line, mobile, email, and even a line to jot down where you met the person! It also has a place to write down emergency contact information, a section for notes, and a list of international dialing codes. I'd say it's a bit too big to put in a back pocket but it's definitely the right size for a purse or backpack. With it's vinyl cover and sturdy binding I expect to get a lot of use out of this little guy.

The phone book's dimensions are a bit small, but for the most part I have been able to fit all of my information into it. There is only one letter of the alphabet whose pages were full immediately. A decent paper phone book.

To be honest, I'm not sure who their target audience is. The book seems to be written for people who have very little, if any phone service experience, but at the same time seems to be directed at professionals. They went to the trouble of explaining what a collect call is, but their examples include setting up major meetings and handling complicated situations. At one point it sounds like they are explaining to a top level executive that it's common for calls to be transferred, and don't be afraid to do so. I've been doing reception work for a long time and was recently promoted to Executive Assistant because of my excellent phone and office skills. Not to brag, just to illustrate that I know something about customer service on the phone. Some of the examples seem like a downright rude way to respond. A lot of the book did not apply to my business and that made it really hard to apply whatever it was they were trying to teach. I went through the whole book in one day, and I just didn't find anything in it that made me glad I bought it.
HOWEVER, if you are new to reception work and nervous about what you're going to be doing, I would not count this book out. It has some good role-playing activities and such that would probably make a newbie a bit more comfortable and give you more confidence in answering the phone and dealing with the whole gamut of situations that you will run into. It will make you think about what to say and how to handle tough situations and customers.
For people with a lot of years of this kind of experience, don't bother with this book. For those new to the profession, particularly if you will be doing sales calls, buy a used edition and give it a shot.
