Product Description Everything you need to create the perfect pet!• Tutorials help you perfect your Aspiration score • Discover the keys to developing your pets' behavior • Tables and charts detail all new available objects and their individual modifiers • Learn strategies to make the new "Genetic System" for specific pet breeding Customer reviews Just not for me. by .. Alicia B. Cornils () I didn't like the pets package in Sims 1, but I guess I just couldn't resist trying this out...you never know, right? I just find pets annoying. They destroy your furniture in no time flat, they take a lot of work to train (similarly to kids, which I tend to "grow up" early just to get rid of the headaches), and then there's the skunk and other people's pets creating havoc on your property. I guess if you like a challenge or you just really love animals, more power to you. It just doesn't float my boat.
Can't Be Without It by .. HaleyB () Everytime the SIMS comes out with a new expansion pack there are always nuances to the game that aren't so obvious. I have bought a prima guide for every expansion pack I own. I strongly recommend it.
Covered the basics by .. Jeffrey L. Wright (Philadelphia Pa.) I read the guide to pets, it was some help, it gave the basics of the pets expansion pack. I was expecting a little more.
The Sims 2: Seasons by .. N. Cavness (ELK CITY, OKLAHOMA United States) This has been a long waited chapter in the saga of the Sims and it certainly is not disappointing. The only thing is that there are some glitches in purchasing clothes downtown but whether or not that is in the game itself or my memory getting full I can not say but for entertainment value The Sims 2: Seasons can not be beat
Not enough information for the money by .. Shana (NY- the Empire State) This really doesn't have enough information on game cheats and strategy in my opinion for the money. I think they should just give these away with the purchase of the game.
Also, this book has no index. Which really makes it difficult to find specific information. This was the first guide I've bought for my Sims 2 games and will be the last.

DIY Grandma (Lisbon, Maine) I bought this after I adopted a year-old female beagle from a shelter. I didn't know what I had let myself in for!! Beagles, being "hound" dogs, march to the beat of a different drummer. . .i.e., their noses!! This book really helped me understand what drives beagles and address the issues of re-training her for her new home. I now keep it as a reference, to remind myself that I was the one needing training in Beagle-speak!!!
Great book for people who have never had a Beagle. by .. () I have had several diffent breeds of dogs over my lifetime, but never had a beagle. We rescued our Beagle in Virginia where we were Camping with our RV. She had been wandering the campground since May The people who worked at the campground discovered her wandering and found she had recently had puppies because her nipples were pink and here it was August and no one had claimed her, The people who worked for the campground who took care of her were told by the manager if she is not adopted or claimed by September she will have to go to the pound. This was very upsetting to my husband and I. I went to the library and searched for books related to Beagles I read several and found this one to be the most informative for housebreaking, training, and giving information about beagles, their characteristics and temperment. I recommend this book to anyone who never had a beagle and those who already own one it will be useful to both.
BEAGLES -- THE HOUND OF CHOICE by .. BeatleBangs1964 (United States) I have a wonderful beagle that I adopted from the Humane Society when she was a little less than a year old. This book gives an excellent overview in the overall care and personality of beagles. The photographs will certainly delight any dog lover and especially anyone who owns a beagle. These winsome, intelligent, alert little hounds are popular pets and this book is a welcome teaching tool for those seriously interested in beagle care. This author has done an excellent job of communicating information that practically all ages can absorb. For beagle lovers and/or beagle owners, this is one book to have.
Excellent Reference Book by .. () I adopted a 3yr old Beagle from the pound a year ago and wish I had had this book. It tells you all about Beagle personality and how to help correct problems specific to the breed. The author really did her homework talking to breeders and current beagle owners. In addition to beagle-specific topics, there is a lot of good general "how to raise a dog" information. I highly recommend this book for those who are currently owned by a Beagle (or will be in the future).

Customer reviews A Real Winner by .. rebecca rutkowski (Mississippi) I have been a dog owner for many a year and have read many a book on dogs! So, what's so special about this one? Plenty. First off, most books are about puppies, old dogs or sick dogs. This is the first book that deals with the first two years of a dog's life: that incredible period from puppyhood to doghood. Secondly, it's not technical nor is it condescending: it's written in the language that most of us speak. The chapters are chock-full of valuable, common-sense information, and the insets provide lots of little known facts that are well-worth keeping in mind. I had a hard time putting it down once I received it. It's great reading! I've already purchased three additional copies for gifts and have highly recommended it to my friends and colleagues. In short, it's a real winner! Go for it, folks, you won't regret it.

Wiersma (Springfield, MA United States) Prety much your typical how-to for dogs book. I expected to learn more but it's pretty much a beginner book with lots of harsh and critical "do you really deserve a shepherd?" righteous indignation. I guess they figure you'd really buy a book about shepherds if you didn't have one??? Anyway, it's helpful but certainly not required reading.
Nicely Done by .. () This book is worth buying. It has many good tips and information of german shepherds. Lots of pictures of nice looking shepherds. Read it from cover to cover and use it as a reference.

Megan Newman (Tampa, FL United States) What Animals Teach Us is a wonderful compilation of true stories about animals and the special bonds they share with their human companions. The stories will warm your heart and help you truly appreciate the special animals in your life. In addition to the stories, Ms. Hessler-Key does a nice job of showing how the unconditional love, trust, and loyalty of animals can transfer into our dealings with people in every day life. This is what makes this book truly unique and meaningful!
The things we could learn from animals! by .. Joan (Virginia) As a life long dog lover, and now as a volunteer for an organization that trains Service Dogs for the physically disabled, I have seen time and again the love, devotion, and complete selflessness that dogs provide. Ms. Hessler-Key has put into words what many dog lovers have never been able to verbalize. The stories she shares in this book are informative, as well as heartwarming. This is a must read for any animal lover.
A Wonderful Read That You Will Surely Love! by .. A Devoted Pet Owner (Nashville, TN USA) Dear Reader, I was ready to slip under the comforter and devote time to Mary Hessler-Key's book, "What Animals Teach Us" when right away, I could tell I was in for a touching and spiritual read. I love animals and it was inspiring to learn how deeply others are affected by the unconditional love given freely by their pets. My particular pet of choice is cats, but it did not matter what type of pet the book showcased, I was incredibly moved. I was already a fan of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and an active supporter, and after reading some of the stories that had a connection with Best Friends, I became even more enthused about what I was reading. Tears began to flow as I read about some pet owners who were initially lukewarm to the idea of having pets, but who were turned completely around and became the world's greatest pet lovers due to some pretty fantastic animals. Take Deke, a dog that loved his masters George and Julie so much that when stricken with cancer, he seem to mysteriously "inspire" a magical cat, Spanky, to appear suddenly at the door, quickly taking over the pet duties of the household. I thought as I continued to read, could Spanky be an angel, or perhaps, could Deke's spirit come back to this world in the form of a cat!!!! Relating to another story, this one about a precious dog named Tara, I am hoping that someday I can visit "Tara's Run" at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, a memorial to Tara, the special friend that truly melted the hearts of owners Tom and Jean. Tara changed Tom's life forever for the better, opening Tom's heart to a world of unconditional love that he just might have missed without the influence of Tara. Not to mention the inspiration that Tara provided that has led Tom and Jean to eventually care for six dogs, two cats, two miniature donkeys and a partridge in a pear tree. (Just kidding about the partridge!) There is the overstuffed cat, Skeezers, that demonstrated such an outpouring of love resulting in a remarkable difference in the life of its owner and all who experienced her. A Mae West of the cat world! If you love animals or know of someone who does, "What Animals Teach Us" as cheerfully delivered by Mary Hessler Key, would make the perfect Christmas gift. Especially this year when uplifting inspiration and sheer loving joy would be truly appreciated. It is obvious that the author has learned many lessons from her pets. I will take this space to thank Mary Hessler Key for sharing these lessons with us so we all can learn. Happy Holidays to pet owners everywhere and hugs to all of our pets!
What Animals Teach Us: Love, Loyalty, Heroism and Other... by .. () Anyone who has had a pet or appreciates the special bond that can exist between people and their companion animals will find this book a treasure. Touching stories illustrate how much we can learn from animals to enrich our human experience. Research relating to the complexities of animal and human interaction provides a context of understanding throughout. An added bonus is the inclusion of an "Exercise" section at the end of each chapter offering readers the opportunity to apply that particular pet lesson to their personal lives in a meaningful way. Mary Hessler-Key's book is rich with valuable insights for us all.
Puts life in perspective by .. Howard Baskin (Tampa, FL USA) The stories of lessons that humans learn from their pets brought me back to what really matters in life in a vivid, engaging and moving way. Because each chapter stands on its own, I found reading one per night before bed was a great way to distance myself from the stresses of the day and head to sleep with a sense of peace and perspective about life. I would highly recommend it.
