One great book! 5 by .. R. Tausch (in the middle of Michigan's mitten)
Jubilee, my 7 month old grand baby loves this book! It always makes her smile. Check it out at your local library and then buy it for your favorite baby as I did :-]

My 7-month old loves it! 5 by .. Natalie M. Jamieson (Austin, Texas)
My sister got this for my 7-month old daughter for Christmas. She loves it. It keeps her attention and she kicks her little legs in excitement each time I read it to her. I like how the pages give you a little hint as to what will be on the following page (cow print for cow, train tracks for train, etc...). I also like that it is nice and short, perfect for the attention span of my little one.

Fun Book! 5 by .. D. Evans (New Mexico)
My two-year-old granddaughter loves this fun little book. It's sturdy enough to withstand her exuberant reading style. After a couple of days, she was able to "read" it to me. A child over three may find it too simple to keep her attention.

cute for young toddlers 4 by .. Helen Mckenzie (Florida)
My 9 months old likes this but the 22 month old already seems to be past this stage. It is good for very young kids.

Peek a Who 5 by .. mom12345 (Florida)
this book is great! my son loves the pictures and he wants read over and over again! Recommend for 9-18 months

This book should win an AWARD! 5 by .. Traveler (East Coast)
One of my all time FAVORITE books! My first copy was torn by my second child. Then I discovered the board book. I love the British flavor of the words and drawings as well as the rhyme. It is very interactive as you read the verse, the child can then respond "Peek-a-boo" as you turn the page. Each page has a circle opening so you can see the next page. I purchase them by the dozen and give them to all new parents. This book is a MUST!

Old-fashioned illustrations *could* be a problem 4 by .. Ulyyf (NYC)
This book is, I believe, a British import. The language has changed to be more consistent with American usage, though.

My nieces love this book, they love counting "One, two, three - PEEK-A-BOO!" with me and pointing at things through the cut-out holes in the book. I don't have any problems with the book (except one scene where, confusingly, the image shown in a mirror in no way reflects what's really going on. Very odd, and I wonder if the mirror was originally intended to be a photograph), however some people might have trouble explaining some of the more old-fashioned imagery.

Many of us nowadays are going back to hanging clothes outside, so that's all right, and a clothes-horse for indoor drying is okay, and a bucketful of coal is explainable, and... well, it does add up. If you have a very inquisitive sort of child, you might get tired of answering all their questions, that's all. (On the other hand, knowledge of different things broadens the mind.)

So I took off one single star.

Sweet board book 5 by .. J. Atlas (Northern Delaware)
My daughters (3.5 and 1) love this book. Its lyrical words are fun to read, and the "peek-a-boo" cutout on each page makes it a real favorite.

We adore this book! 5 by .. Kat Wood (Seattle, WA USA)
We got this book at the library, but had to buy it! It's my new favorite gift book too. I adore the illustrations-interesting, realistic and beautiful, and the story has great rhythm. My one-year old son loves this book (picks it out of the book basket and brings it to me, then signs "again" when we're done). And, my 2.5-year old daughter also loves it. I love that it shows gramma and dad helping with chores and kids too, and even shows mom catching a quick weekend nap in the easy chair while dad pours the tea.

Not a hit in our house... until our daughter neared 2 2 by .. Genevra Gallo (Carbondale, IL USA)
I was hunting down peek-a-board books for my daughter after my mother got us Puppy Peek-a-Boo (illustrated by Lisa McCue), which everyone in the house (me and my husband included) loves. This book came highly recommended by other readers, so I purchased it. What a disappointment at first! The illustrations were too complex and too tiny for young children (my daughter is under 2) to appreciate, and the language did not keep her attention.

As my daughter has gotten older, she has grown to appreciate this book much more. Initially, it seemed the colors were not bright enough, she wasn't interested in the story, etc. However... now that she is nearly 2, she seems to enjoy it much more and is even requesting it more often.

I had recommended before that parents buy this for older children. I think waiting until 2 is wise. Earlier than that and it just doesn't seem to hold the child's interest due to its colors, language, and content. Once language really begins to kick in and the child is more willing to look closely at the pictures and try to recognize or name things... it becomes a pleaser.

Important note: I cannot change my initial rating of 2 stars... now that my daughter is older, I would give it 4.

Fun Book/Excellent Series 5 by .. Boulder Mom (Superior, CO)
This is such a fun book for toddlers and younger. It is my go to book for gifts! Even my 4 1/2 year old still loves it.

Favorite! 5 by .. Natalie E. Tolstyka (Atlanta, GA)
My daughter is 11 months old, and this has been her absolute favorite book for the last several months. As a matter of fact, I have to hide it from her, otherwise she heads right for it!

One of the best flap books for young children! 5 by .. Mrs. Mom (MA USA)
My 8 month old daughter loves flap books, and this is by far one of her favorites! The flaps are large and easy for her to pull down (I like that they all pull down so she can do it by herself). The pictures underneath of the animals are large and brightly colored. It is truly a favorite and I'd love the whole series! We are thinking of getting Peek-a-pet next!

Great for toddlers! 5 by .. Sean's Mom (California)
Pages and pictures are nice and big. My 14 months loves it.

Giggles galore 5 by .. J. Newton (Colorado, USA)
My son lights up and laughs when he sees this book. He loves the peekaboo concept, but giggles even harder when mommy gets the sound "wrong." If you are signing with your child, this book provides a great opportunity to reinforce the sign with the animal sound.

One note, my niece was scared of this book when she first got it. We think it was the was the eyes are drawn...but who knows!

Highly recommended.

Great book for infants/toddlers 5 by .. Jenni ()
I got this book as a gift from the hospital with our first child. She absolutely loved looking at the baby faces and now I've shared it with our second child who loves it as well. They both love the changing baby faces and the fun rhyming words. I like it so much I am now buying it as a gift for other new parents.

My infant son loved this book! 5 by .. Theresa W (mi, usa)
We received this book for free through our school district. I took it home and flipped through the few pages with baby faces and didn't think too much about it. However his teacher mentioned that babies love to look at other childrens faces, so we read it. And read it, and read it! My son loved it!! He still gets a kick out of it now that he's nearing two, but I think this book is best for babies around 6-18 months. I'll still read it to him, and use it to teach him emotions though. Great, simple book.

Simple and captivating 5 by .. Annaliese von Sieb (Midwestern U.S.A.)
This book is very simple- some of the pages have only one word on them, such as "laughing," "yelling," etc. What will captivate your baby are the close-up photos of babies' faces. My daughter, now 9 months old, LOVES this book and will smile at her favorite pages. She has always liked it, but now that she is at the age where she loves playing peekaboo, this is her hands-down favorite book.

My baby's first friends! 5 by .. Karen (SoCal)
Love this simple little board book. Makes my baby laugh out loud. He loves looking at the babies faces. I think he thinks they are real. So cute. Not sure when it became a favorite, but he's 11 months now, have had it for at least 6 months, and he still smiles and laughs when we get it out. :-)

Not quite what I thought it would be 3 by .. A. Philley (New York)
The title is peek a boo, but most of the images are simply baby/toddler faces. One laughing, one crying, one yawning, etc. My daughter likes it, just like all the other baby faces board books, but it is not filled with peek a boo images. We had checked out a peek a boo book at the library that she was crazy about and I thought this was the same one, but it wasn't. This is a good book, but if you want peek a boo, look elsewhere!

Fun book to share with your baby 5 by .. T. Pitts (North Carolina)
I just love all the Karen Katz books; we have many in our home library that we have collected over the years. As another reviewer mentioned, the flaps do wear out over time, but what well-loved flap-book doesn't?! I wanted a new one for our baby and found this cute Peek-a-Baby book--it's precious and my little one already knows which way each flap moves. It is a favorite for her and we read it before each nap and bedtime. Babies just like looking at babies, and especially love peek-a-boo. The phrasing is a little awkward, I do change it somewhat to reflect the baby in the book vs the baby on my lap, but doesn't take away from the fun of the book.

Baby loves it 5 by .. Ruzanna S. Danielyan (NY)
I got this book when my baby was 6 months old, and she simply adores it. This is how we learned the peek-a-boo.

Cute little book, but wording could be re-written... 3 by .. AS (New Jersey)
I bought this book as an expansion of my 18-month old daughter's "library". She has adored author's book such as "Where is baby's mommy?" and "Where is baby's bellybutton?" I was hoping that this book would be just as good. Don't get me wrong, my daughter loves lifting the flaps and other interactive aspects of the book. However, each time I read this book to her, I have to change the narrative to come in 3rd person, i.e. "Who's hiding behind the ball? Peek-a-boo! It's a silly baby (girl/boy)" instead of "It's silly you". Even my 18-month old is smart enough to know that the drawings of children in the book are some other children, and not her. When I used the original narrative, she got upset and tried to tell me that she is not in the book, it's some other babies. They say that the concept of "self" comes about at approximately 12-months. So, the book as written would be most useful with 0-12 months age group. For older kids you would have to change the narrative to make the story about someone else, otherwise, they would just get upset.

Also, as is the case with all Karen Katz's books, the flaps come off way too easily when a child pulls on them slightly. I have to use clear tape to attach the flaps back where they belong in all of the books. We already had to buy 3 replacements for the books my daughter enjoys the most. Perhaps it's the publisher's way to ensure constant demand. I found these books at local TJMaxx and Marshall's for $2-$4.

Peek a baby review 5 by .. D. Neubecker (Rockwood Mi USA)
My 14 month old daughter adores the book! She loves all Karen Katz's "lift the flap" books. It was a great buy!

5 Klovers - Courtesy of CK2S Kwips & Kritiques 5 by .. Jennifer Ray (Nashville, TN United States)
*NOTE* These stories were originally released in individual, yet connected, ebooks. The reviews below were written for the ebooks, hence the references to the print release at the end of each.*

~Watch Me by Shelley Bradley~

Ballroom Dancing is Shanna's life. She will do anything to win the coveted championship - something that has so far eluded her. To that end, she has gone through so many partners she has been nicknamed the Bitch of the Ballroom. But the competitive gene runs strong in Shanna's family, and she is the only one that hasn't yet proved her skill with a trophy. She has given up everything for that goal, even to the exclusion of friendships or romance.

The moment Alejandro lays eyes on the beautiful dancer, he aims to change all of that. Determined to win her affection, he tries unsuccessfully to woo her, even purchasing all of her dances at a charity event.

But a blackmail scheme and a career-damaging sex tape place Shanna right where Alejandro wants her - in his very own club, Sneak Peek. In this playground for the sexually adventurous, Shanna sets out to trap a blackmailer even while Alejandro sets out to trap Shanna in his own web. He recognizes the exhibitionist tendencies she harbors and knows just how to reach this woman's deepest desires now that she is in his lair... Through it all, he will show Shanna that life is about more than just winning, and that love is the dearest prize of all.

If you have read many of my previous reviews, you have probably figured out already that Shelley Bradley, aka Shayla Black, is one of my very favorite authors. Well, there is good reason for that - her writing absolutely rocks! There seems to be no end to the worlds this author can dream up or the characters that speak to her. She can write sweet, she can write spicy, and she usually combines the two in a way that stirs both the loins and the heart with equal fervor.

With the current popularity of ABC's `Dancing With the Stars' show, Watch Me's setting in the midst of a professional Ballroom Dancing competition is as topical as it is romantic. While Alejandro may not be a professional dancer, he more than has what it takes to sweep Shanna off of her feet - a fact guaranteed to send the dancer with single-minded focus running in the opposite direction. But in the true style of the best romantic heroes, Alejandro does not let this dissuade him from the prize. He sees more in Shanna than the bitch she is purported her to be - he sees a woman afraid to love, a woman who has forgotten what living is all about, and he is determined to show her personally.

Shanna is a woman so focused on her goals, that she has left her life and even her very womanhood behind. With her career firmly in first place, all else takes a backseat, including romance, friendship and even just plain old fun. When she meets Alejandro, she knows to the depths of her soul he will be a distraction she can't afford, and fights her attraction to him with everything she has.

Watch Me is a wonderfully hot little romance story with a resounding moral lesson. Readers are reminded alongside Shanna that love and loyalty are the most important prizes of all, and to always keep your mind and your heart open.

Watch Me is connected to Jaci Burton's upcoming release, Show Me. The stories will be enhanced if you read them in order (Watch Me first and Show Me second) but each works very well as a standalone tale. Both stories release separately in eBook this month from Samhain Publishing, and will be released together in print in an anthology titled Sneak Peek in 2008.

~Show Me by Jaci Burton~

As heir to her father's holdings, and chairperson of her family's charitable foundations, Janine esteems reputation above all else. No matter what her innermost desires are, as a member of the public eye, she must always be above reproach lest she besmirch the Bartolino name and damage their organization.

When her friends drag her out for her thirtieth birthday, she has no idea they are going to Sneak Peek, an exclusive sex club. And she certainly wasn't prepared to meet a man like Del, who seems to see inside her darkest fantasies, but has no regard for reputation, at least not his own. But once she has a taste of what Del offers, she can't stay away, and soon she finds herself exploring the boundaries of exhibitionism with Del in ways she never before imagined.

Del has always had his choice of women. As the bachelor partner in Sneak Peek, he finds himself with more than ample opportunity to indulge his most hedonistic tendencies without reservation. Yet when he meets the reserved Janine, he is intrigued by releasing her from her inhibitions and unlocking the passions she has buried deep down inside...

Jaci Burton has swiftly moved up my list of favorite authors, and when I learned she was partnering with Shelley Bradley to write the Sneak Peek stories, I jumped at the chance to review these stories by two such talented writers. Burton's Show Me picks up where Bradley's Watch Me leaves off, and stars the supporting male character from the prior story, Phillipe "Del" Delacroix as well as seeing a return of Alejandro in a supporting role this time. Bradley and Burton work well together, connecting the two stories seamlessly.

Del is the epitome of the playboy/bad boy. Rich, successful, and with some very wild sexual predilections, he is the kind of man women love to try and tame - just a little bit. Getting to know his character, I found myself reminded of that line in one of Tim McGraw's songs more than once: "I may be a real bad boy, but baby, I'm a real good man." That describes Del perfectly. Del is wicked, tempting, and absolutely untamable, but when it comes down to it, he is definitely a good man. He shows his concern for Janine in everything he does, and still manages to push her limits sexually, fulfilling her wildest yearnings over and over again.

Janine is a woman caught between the woman she thinks she needs to be and the woman she really is. When her real world and her fantasies collide, she has to learn more than just how to let herself go - she has to learn to trust.

I won't be shy about saying it - I loved this story! Jaci Burton has penned a tale that is smoking hot, and also manages to be extremely romantic. I felt every emotion these characters felt, and was on the edge of my seat until I finished the last chapter.

Show Me is connected to Shelley Bradley's book, Watch Me. The stories will be enhanced if you read them in order (Watch Me first and Show Me second) but each works very well as a standalone tale. Both stories release separately in eBook this month from Samhain Publishing, and will be released together in print in an anthology titled Sneak Peek in 2008.

Entertains even very little babies 5 by .. K. Washburn (Berkeley CA)
My son and my daughter both responded to this book when only 2 or 3 months old - the animals have big eyes and friendly smiles, and when they peek at the baby reader, the baby responds with smiles, coos, and wriggling. Perfect first book. Sturdier than most flap books, but will get lots of loving use, so why not buy 2?

My girls fight over this book 5 by .. Helen Harris (Alexandria, VA)
My twin 20-month-olds fight over this book--it's wonderful. The only thing is that the paper pull-outs are quite fragile--I was taping them back together within a few days... however, my girls might be a bit young to use it properly!

My child loves it! 5 by .. J. McDonald (Orem, Utah)
We got this as a baby shower present. We really thought it would be fun for our little girl when she was old enough so we kept it! Glad we did because she is 11 months old and LOVES to pull it out and look at it for about 20 minutes at a time, by herself! The mirror in the book is great--she loves to look at it and at us in it. I'm going to buy more little scholastic books for her because of how much she has enjoyed this one.

Fun, entertaining, but NOT sturdy 3 by .. B. Caves (Prague, Czech Republic)
Our 10 month old son loves this book - and it is entertaining to share it with him - however the bee's wing, elephants trunk, and another moving bit were soggy, torn or completely removed from the book within a week. Should have been constructed sturdier to tolerate prying and exploring little hands and mouths

Wonderful Book 5 by .. J. Comer (Statesville, NC, USA)

Helpful for all catholics 2 by .. GH (Delaware)

Understanding from a child's point-of-view 5 by .. Sharyn Abbott (Walnut Creek, CA United States)
Wendy Goody has taken the confusing aspect of the Catholic religion and created an easy means to have children understand the complicated process of Catholisism. If you'd like to make it easier for your children to get beyond the symbolism and mystic and put the church in an accessible format, then buy this book.

Awesome! 5 by .. Emma (Milltown, NJ)
What a great book. As others have said, not just for the little ones. I wish I had this when I taught CCD. Very informative and the kids enjoy reading it. Other books, religious and otherwise, could use some of the teaching tools in this book. For instance, new and unfamiliar words are stated with a sounds like word (pyx rhymes with six). Also, when showing the aerial view of the church the author tells the kid to imagine they are a bird flying overhead. I wish my 4th grade geography teacher would have used that one. Last but not least, the illustration is beautiful.

I felt guilty reading this it was so good! 5 by .. ()
Ages 4-8??? Paleeze! This one is timeless, a true must read for all ages! Who says religion can't be fun.

A Wonderful Book For Everyone! 5 by .. D. McGuigan (Pennsylvania)
I have to say that this book is so informative and it isn't just for children...I would give this book 5 stars as it explains just about everything that a child could ask a parent. I believe that it keeps the attention of the child because it is very colorful and it is contemporary.

Like "Peek-A-Moo" which we also own for our daughter, this book is very cute! The flaps are nice and big and very easy for tiny hands to open. The colors are bright and bold and my husband and I have so much fun with this book with our 10 month old who loves flap books.

great book with interaction for toddlers 5 by .. Ming (Massachusetts)
great book for toddlers with nice, big, flap-opening action. My daughter really liked this book and the fact that she gets to open the flaps and turn the pages. Great, fun book for babies and toddlers. Only complaint is that she tends to rip off the flaps since they're really flimsy.

My son loves this book. There are 2 others like this and we have them all. He learned all his animal sounds by reading these over and over! We love them.
