The Official SAT Study Guide: For the New SAT(tm)
Here's the successor to the College Board's #1 best seller 10 Real SAT®s. This new book is the only one with practice tests created by the test maker according to proprietary new SAT specifications. With the book's 700+ pages and 21 chapters, students:
  • Gain experience by taking 8 practice tests and receiving estimated scores.
  • Raise confidence by reviewing concepts, test-taking approaches, and practice questions.
  • Increase understanding of the new PSAT/NMSQT® and the new SAT. Plus, book buyers receive free online score reports and a discount on The Official SAT Online Course(tm) with auto essay scoring.
Changes to the new SAT include:
  • The name of the current SAT verbal section will be changed to critical reading, analogies will be eliminated and short reading passages will be added to existing long reading passages.

  • A new section called the SAT writing section will be added, which will contain multiple-choice grammar and usage questions and a student- written essay.
  • The SAT math section will be expanded to include topics from third-year college- preparatory math (also known as Algebra II); in addition, quantitative comparisons will be eliminated from this section. The Official SAT Study Guide: For the New SAT is part of the College Board's new SAT Readiness Program(tm) of print, online, and professional development resources.

Before I decide to purshase this product I knew what was about it. The book is not for me. But I know it is very helpfull for my son. When we were searching it was a very nice experience 'cause we saw many amazing products we wanted to get. Even do was my first time buying on line I am so satisfied with Amazon. As third parties as well. I come here often since then. Thanks Amazon.

Great Buy 4 by .. M. Quigley (New York)
It is so worth what I paid, and then some. It explains in great detail and the wording is easy to understand. I just wish the book would focus more on problem areas and not just the whole SAT test. I still think the book will help me tremendously on the exam.

Bought this for the mystery tutor site, glad I did. 5 by .. Maria Cevallos (USA)
I bought this book for my kid because it was recommended on mysterytutor.com, and I have to say I'm glad I did. The questions are different from what he was working on before, which was one of the Barron's books, just like the guy on the mystery tutor site said they would be. It just makes sense to use real questions to get ready for the test, especially when it's an important one.

Some other reviewers have written about how the book doesn't provide solutions, and I agree that that's a problem, but if you go to the mystery tutor's forums you can get all of those solutions for free, so that way you can still use this book of real questions and not have to go with some other company's fake questions, but still have explanations.

The book is full of real practice questions just like it says it is, and it's the only book of practice questions you should be using! Get it and don't think twice.

This book NEVER arrived. It was cancelled the same day, reorder from another vendor and also cancelled. Finally, my daughter's boyfriend found her one, almost too late and they studied together. The Guide was helpful but would have been better if delivered and on time.

Not a Study Guide. 2 by .. Immortalix (New York, USA)
The Official Study Guide for all SAT Subject Tests isn't a study guide at all, as is the case with most if not all of College Board's study guide publications. This book includes only one previously administered test per subject area, which isn't adequate enough to determine the knowledge you have mastered in the subject. The exams themselves must be at least several years old, and the conversion charts reflect the performance of past years; test writers change over time as well as student competitiveness. The part that probably ticks people off the most is that NO answer explanation is included. Because this is the only SAT Subject Test book published by the actual test writing company, many have no choice but to buy this. Just because there are no other publications of previously administered exams doesn't make it right for College Board to sloppily take a past exam booklet and add answer keys. Another problem with this book is that half of it is foreign language exams. Almost no student takes more than one language test, if any at all. The foreign language exams are dead weight. The CD included only contains listening parts. College Board needs to do better, especially for the prices it charges students for the standardized tests it administers. Unless College Board updates the exams, adds an answer key explanation, or includes more exams, this book doesn't help much, but for $13 (Amazon) or $19 (College Board), it's better than nothing. If you think about buying it, buy it early, since you're most likely not going to take more than four SAT Subject Tests, and using it for just one practice test is a waste.

    Great, thick book.... 4 by .. K. Q. Tran ()
The question are a lot for each subject.
they all include keys, which help for social studies.
but doesn't teach the secret to a successful test result.
    Basically is a Question book with answer from the previews test;
make for you to practice. If you're looking for a teaching book, this is not the one.

    Complete Overkill. 3 by .. Jite ()
I bought the book thinking that it would be more for my money. And the truth is that it is more for money. A lot more. This book is huge! And unless you are going to take all of the subjects, it is too big to carry around. It is a lot easier to study from a lighter book, than this monster. I do recommend the series, but be reasonable and buy separate books.

Finally an explanation to the damn guide 5 by .. theshonen8899 (California, USA)
Don't be fooled by what "Stu Dent" was talking about. This isn't some "random guy" from California but a well trained SAT teacher of six years, and it clearly shows in the book. He obviously failed to say that he didn't read this book enough to have a complete understanding of it.

It's been a pain for me to search for the solutions online and some aren't even on there. This book makes studying for the SAT much easier and efficient.

    A Tad Dissapointed 3 by .. Marion A. Knott ()
Hello! I had read a full page story in the San Francisco Chronicle about the author and the book. My grandson is taking the SAT in May. He lives on the East Coast. I bought the book on Amazon.com and it arrived. He looked through it and realized that in order to fully utilize the benefits of the book, he would need the Practice SAT tests which did not come with the book, so his father (my son) and Matthew went to the library and borrowed the "tests." I would have bought the practice tests for him if I had known they were necessary.

outstanding explanations 5 by .. Jeffrey Shaw ()
I don't know what "Stu Dent" is talking about. I just purchased a copy of this book for my daughter. It has clear, simple explanations for all the problems. College Board has an online course for $69.95 which we also paid for, and the explanations are awful. Moreover, you have to be logged in to read the explanations online. This book, at less than half the price of $69.95 is an outstanding product.

Waste of money and time. 1 by .. Dr. Stu Dent ()
This isn't even Official, it's made by some random guy in Cali. Most of this stuff is available online for free. I'm happy I didn't buy this with own money. A rip off.

Helped me get into Stanford! 5 by .. Kevin Johnston (Stanford, CA)
I had the Official SAT Guide, and couldn't solve a lot of the problems. This explained things clearly and it also showed the best way to solve all the math problems too. Some other guys have a book like this too, but the explanations are really long and not very clear. After I used this, I got a 2240 on the SAT, and I just got in early admissions to Stanford!!!! Go Seniors '08!

NOT REALISTIC! 2 by .. Busy Mom ()
This is one of the workbooks my daughter recently used to prepare for her SAT subject test in Math Level 1. Although the book says it contains real, previously adminstered tests, my daughter found its tests overly easy and do not resemble the difficult problems that usually appear toward the end of the real test. She finds Barrons and Kaplan prep books more realistic in that they reproduce tests with math problems closer in difficulty to those encountered in the actual SAT test.

Great Book! 5 by .. B. Lim (New Zealand)
Was exactly what I hoped it to be, Full of questions for practice, Albeit a bit short compared to the other SAT books(only 200 pages) I think that is still a fair bit of amount. for its price it was a great buy.

    Excellent 5 by .. Terri E. Tate ()
I think the study guide will be very beneficial to me. I believe I chose the right book...

Disappointing 3 by .. Scott R. Tidwell (long beach, CA USA)
Unfortunately, this book only has two practice tests. It is really tough to adequately prepare for this exam with so few problems. I recommend Barron's book instead.

Not very useful 2 by .. Ranjodh (Punjab,India)
Not very useful if you want to study for maths level 1/2.only useful for part time end moment practice but not worth its money.

not expect high scores 2 by .. X. Xu (USA)
It gives some knowledge, but the maximum score you may get from this book is 600s.

The book is just as horrific as the test 1 by .. Brielle987 (Englewood Cliffs, NJ)
From a student's perspective, the book isn't very helpful. Most people use it to review right before taking the test to get a general feel for how they would do. If your looking for a book that will help you review material, this isn't it...it's just two tests that are honestly not anything like the real thing. If you want my advice, stay away from the U.S. Subject test altogether- it's awful :(

Math Tests are NOT Accurate 3 by .. BranMan (Miami, FL)
If you are planning on taking multiple Subject tests, then this is a cost efficient book. However, if you are only taking the Math test, please know that the test(s) in this book are far too easy compared to the real thing.

If you are looking for a book that is accurate in difficulty, then try the Barron's book, but be forewarned that it is more difficult and comprehensive than the real test.

An accurate judge of your score... 5 by .. J. Chen (Bay Area, CA)
What this book does not do is help you cram for the SAT II World History/U.S. History test. It doesn't feed you information; it doesn't reward you for sleeping through U.S. History or World History in school. If you want a book that does, go for Barron's or Princeton (which, by the way, has an immense review section on world history filled with details- some useful, some useless).

This book is designed for assessment. If you are a student who has studied well in history class, this book is for you. Taking this book's two tests (it has two for each subject) will help you accurately measure where you will fall during the real thing. It may also help you identify areas that your history class didn't cover well. The book provides paragraph explanations justifying every answer.

On the first test (world history) that I took in this review book, I received an 800. My "raw" score barely made the cutoff, which is to say if I missed 1-2 more problems, I would have received a 790 or 780. There is a margin; you can miss almost 14 questions out of 95 and still get a perfect score. On the second test that I took, I received another 800. My "raw" score improved a little. It was now that I doubted if this book accurately portrayed the real test; my scores in Barron's (a testing brand infamous for ridiculously difficult tests in its review books) were around 770. Considering the wide margins on raw scores to scaled scores, it was a significant difference.

Thank god, when it came down to the real deal, I scored 800 (again, on world history). I want to dispel any myths about a rumored College Board conspiracy. The organization does not water down tests in its review books to help lower the scoring curve. It may not want everyone receiving 800's, but it certainly wouldn't go so far as to dupe students. First of all, it would be unethical and against the non-profit organization's principles. Second of all, this book very accurately determined what score I would receive on the real test on two separate occasions.

In the end, you should invest in this book to help you predict your score. But don't expect a brilliant review section- there is none, actually- just use this as a way to practice and assess your knowledge. Ignore my comments at the very beginning of this review; other books such as Barron's and Princeton Review succinctly summarize the knowledge that you need on test day. This book should definitely go hand in hand with a third-party book; I found Barron's especially helpful. Just don't count on any third-party review books to give you a true, accurate assessment of how you will do on the real test.

Exactly as it sounds 5 by .. Joseph Sullivan (New York)
The book features ACTUAL subject tests that were previously published- 2 in US history, 2 in world history. I found them to be tremendously beneficial, beause some review books aren't hard enough and some (most notably the Barron's) are unrealistically hard. I strongly reccomend it.

So before you use this supplement, make sure you have these two books. Why do you need The Ultimate SAT Supplement? Why not just buy the College Board book? While the College Board book is an excellent source of SAT problems and tests, it does not contain solutions to these test problems. That’s where KlassTutoring comes in. The Ultimate SAT Supplement contains solutions to the test questions in the College Board book, all 1,360 of them. KlassTutoring solutions will guide you through every step of solving a problem—from your initial approach to finding the correct answer. Each solution uses one or more KlassTutoring techniques as taught in our companion title, The Ultimate SAT Tutorial. For answers and explanations to real SAT problems, this book really is The Ultimate SAT Supplement.

Along with the Ultimate SAT Tutorial, this is a must-have! 5 by .. Cardinal Academics Tutoring (LA, CA)
Please read my review on the Ultimate SAT Tutorial. This book goes along with that one, which is the best SAT prep book on the market. You can also buy this book with the College Board's book if you are just looking for answers and explanations to the tests, but I'd recommend getting the tutorial as well, as this book references the strategies taught in the tutorial.

As I mentioned in my other review, I am an SAT tutor with years of experience consistently raising students' scores on the SAT. This book provides the clearest, most useful answers and explanations to the College Board's book of tests that I have ever seen. If there is ever a problem that I can't remember how to do (yes, it does happen every once in awhile, even when you do this for a living!), I just flip open the Ultimate Supplement and get 2-3 ways to solve the problem. It couldn't be any easier than that!

I highly recommend this book because it was written by someone who knows the SAT inside and out, and it really shows. If you're serious about raising your SAT scores, get the College Board book and then get this book to go with it. If you do the work, you WILL see results. Good luck!

I made a mistake. I do not want a 2008 calendar - I want a 2009 calendar. How do I return this and get what I really wanted. I am surprised in November, they would even have 2008 calendars available - who would want it? I hope you can help me.

It's just paper version 3 by .. X. Yu (Byfield, MA USA)
Don't expect too much...Although I prefer this Calendar version than online one...it's just pages and pages of exercises with answers. They have place to put details...they just want you go to their website! Doesn't work too much as a real Calendar and kind of poorly made by a plastic lightblue frame. In all, if you are too lazy to go online and don't always need the details(i simply only use dictionary...), i'd recommend it if it's in a low price.

Interesting questions and answers but if you are not sure how they got the answer, they want you to go to their website. Would have been nice if they provided a little more info on the calendar instead.

The calendar is a nice way to get a good feeling of the types of questions that will be included in the actual test.
