Product Description We could tell you, but then we'd have to Obliviate your memory. Customer reviews Pleasantly surprised! by .. Daniel T. Ferry (Tampa, FL) It's been difficult for me to get into the Harry Potter books, having already seen all of the movies to this point. However, when the theatrical release of this film was pushed back into 2009, I thought now was a good time to try again with this one. THAN GOODNESS I DID! I've even started going backwards in the series.
What a great read. Rowling's writing is quite good. The scenes are very well described, and the character development is exactly where it needs to be. Rowling really makes you care about the characters all throughout this book (as well as previous installments).
I found the climax to be rewarding, and quite descriptive. I really cannot wait to see the new ideas in the book brought to life in the movie.
For those who've found the books difficult to get into, and have seen the movies, this one is a GREAT read while waiting for the "Half-Blood Prince" to debut in the theatre.
Gotta love HP! by .. PattyCake (NY) If you are even browsing this page then it is pointless to read any reviews. That means, you are already a fan and know how spell-binding the series is. Every HP book is AMAZING! A great read for all ages.
A little bit of a dissapointment compared to Order by .. Music Is The Best (Pretendland) This book was good, But a lot less dark, and not as haunting. Also we are told that Voldemort's growing, but there's no sense of fear other than in London, and some parts of Europe. I mean, what about the other 6 continents. He's not taking over North America, or Asia.
gift by .. R. Or A. Warren (Pennsylvania) Got the last 2 HP books they were in excellent condition I like doing business at Amazon
Didn't live up to the standard set by the previous books by .. Alexis Smith () Bottom Line: Loaner (unless you have to have it for your collection)
I have to say I was disappointed in many things about this book.
First and foremost, it didn't grab my attention at the initial start of the book, like the previous books had.
Then, the insertion of the flashbacks at the first third of the book I felt was, confusing. Added to that, they seemed to drone on a bit longer than they needed.
Thirdly, the relationship between Harry and Dumbledore seemed to suddenly turn in another direction..which didn't feel 'true' to me based on the relationship portrayed in the previous installments..and it also added to the 'overness' of the book.
Then, we add in the relationship between Harry and Ginny, which was the all time most forced thing in this book, for me. It didn't feel right, didn't make any sense, on any level. It felt like a hasty move to shove another love scenario into the story. And then Ron and Hermione are supposed to like each other? I didn't get that either. There wasn't any or enough foundation laid for any of it, to me. It would have been far more interesting had Luna taken a romantic interest in Harry..now there's a chick who could have turned him every which way but loose.
All and all, it felt like, a book written by an author who might be perhaps 'over' this entire series and its characters.

Product Description Fourteen-year-old Harry Potter joins the Weasleys at the Quidditch World Cup, then enters his fourth year at Hogwarts Academy where he is mysteriously entered in an unusual contest that challenges his wizarding skills, friendships and character, amid signs that an old enemy is growing stronger. Customer reviews Goblet Gives Gryffindor Gang Great Gobs of Guesswork, Goosebumps by .. Franklin the Mouse (Gorham, ME USA) Ms. Rowling apparently had a lot to say in this next installment of the series. Coming in at nearly twice the length of the previous story, the bulkiness does not detract from the good, solid storytelling. The author seamlessly brings new readers up to date in the life of Harry Potter by interjecting, throughout the book, facts from the previous three books. However, you will not truly appreciate the development of this wonderful wizardly world without reading them in sequence. Other reviewers have felt the need to list their favorites in this series, but the exercise is unnecessary. The first four books were very fun and easy reads. This stuff isn't meant to be Shakespeare, folks. Many, many adults and kids have gushed to me about how much they enjoyed all seven novels. Nothing in Ms. Rowling's books have soured me from soon reading the fifth installment. Sit back, relax and enjoy.
you should read this book because.... by .. bjg () This book is great. It has very descriptive words and it is action packed with a lot of drama. This is my favorite Harry Potter book so far. In general, Harry Potter books are the best for me. Harry finds a romance, but sadly it may not go so well. The book is fantastic. At the end, something interesting happens, and I won't tell you what, so read the book.
Enjoyable but over hyped by .. Jeffrey C. ONeill (Boston, MA) I enjoyed this book and it was a very quick read. The characters are fun but I don't understand the hype around this book.
Glorious by .. Rhain Blackthorn (United States) I've reviewed each of these books but keep being prompted to review them again. I can't praise the writing talent of J.K.Rowling enough. And again I will say, there should be more books and more movies that promote acceptance, tollerance, standing up for one's beliefs, values and what is right vs what is easy. There are too many books and too many movies that plant the idea of violence for violence sake to make us all ill. And, please excuse me if I offend anyone here; Why is it that anyone thinks they need to write a book about finding God in a work of fiction? And for those who have complained since day one about what a threat the Harry Potter books and movies are to so called Christians, if a work of fiction, a work of cinematic art can threaten your faith then you have no true faith to speak of therefore, please keep your squeemishness to yourself. God and Christ put forth the ideas of acceptance, tollerance, standing up for your beliefs standing up for your fellow human beings and for all living things. The Harry Potter books promote these same healthy valuable life lessons so if that is a threat to you, well, bless you for you know not.
GREAT BOOK by .. ()
This book is my favorite out of the first four. The reason I like the fourth book the best is because it has the most details. For example J.K. Rowling described the dragons that Harry fights against very well. She does it well because she uses examples skin color and various things like that. Another reason I like this book the best is because it has a lot of action. One example of action was when Harry had to fight a giant spider. Another moment of action was when Harry had to fight the dragons. Also there was an example of action when Harry had to fight the merpoeple. The last moment of action was when Harry fought he-who-must-not-be-named. The last reason I liked this book was because of the vocabulary. It was interesting how the cruciatus curse came from the Latin stem cruc. Another vocabulary word I learned was Yule which meant Christmas. Also my favorite vocabulary word was hippogriff. A hippogriff is a half horse half eagle. The reason I chose the word is because it sounded cool. These reasons are why I think it is the best book out of the first four Harry potter books.

Product Description Harry es húerfano de padre y madre y vive con sus tíos odiosos y su primo insoportable y malcriado. Por suerte Harry puede ir a un colegio especial de magia. Ágil y divertida, esta novela entretiene a grandes y chicos. Customer reviews Great Read by .. James Bourret (Idaho) I am an obsessive Harry Potter fan, and a 3rd year spanish speaker. I've read the first book almost too many times to count, and decided to mix it up a bit and give my self a challenge (my parents didn't want me to waste my time reading it again.) I've been keeping my english copy, dictionary, and notepad close to learn new vocab. I feel that reading this has been a great way to get better at spanish quicker. Slowly but surley, I've been using my english copy less and less. I reccomend it for anyone who wants to get better at their spanish in a fun, familiar way. (As an added bonus, I got extra credit in spanish class for reading it!)
Harry Potter in Spanish by .. Sra. Osolo (New Port Richey, FL United States) This book is great especially if you have already read it in English. I use it for an upper level Spanish class where we also discuss relationships to myths, significance of colors, foreshadowing, grammar and vocabulary,
Excellent!!! by .. Julie A. Martinez (Tinley Park, IL USA) Being that it was used and the price was great, I just couldn't pass it up. The book was in excellent condition and looked new and my aunt loved it, being from Mexico and unable to get a lot of these books, she was so happy to have received it and can't wait for the other ones. Thank you for making her Christmas memorable.
Great for enjoyment and for the classroom by .. Katherine Andrews () I've read all the Harry Potter books in English, and I've always wanted to read them in Spanish, since I teach Spanish. I am currently teaching lower-level Spanish classes, one of which is the highest level of the lower levels. We are reading "La piedra filosofal" as a class, and, although my students are at different levels, the benefit to reading it is that they all know the story in English, and that helps their comprehension tremendously. Some students are moving slower than others, but they're really enjoying reading something that "real Spanish people" (their words) read. Definitely a good choice for intermediate level Spanish students as an introduction to advanced reading and literature.
Great Way to Brush Up on Spanish by .. J. F. Rosen (Sarasota, Florida United States) I studied Spanish and college many (I mean many) years ago and have been trying to relearn the language. I remember the basic grammar but my vocabulary is pretty weak. I decide to read Spanish books geared for young adults and found the entire Harry Potter series (I made it through the first 4 so far) to be truly enjoyable reading.
Of the four I read, this and the second (Chamber of Secrets), were the lightest and the easiest reading. The third (Prisoner of Askaban)and especially the fourth (Goblet of Fire)increased in length and my speed in Spanish is pretty slow, so they took longer to read. The fifth (Order of the Phoenix) and six (Half Blooded Prince) are about 900 pages so I am pretty intimidated to tackle them in Spanish. I will read them in English and move on to some other Spanish books.
After reading these I viewed the DVD's of the films. They have the audio track in Spanish so you can train your ear, too.
The books follow the English versions almost exactly, so you can have a copy of it around to refer to if you find yourself confused about a certain phrase or sentence.

Big Equations! by .. Hot Drink Lover (Mendocino, CA) Definitely a not to be missed book - perhaps the best story of our time!
Howev, my review is about something else.
The last 20 pages or so are so mundane, forgetful, so frustrating - that I am compelled to say, FORGET IT!
This is from a dear fan who is on the same page with you - you will be happier if you never read the conclusion - seems forced, contrived, wooden, and not at all what I would expect these characters to do. Strange.
I think you will have a much happier time if you just closed the book before the epilogue - If you check it out, you won't like it and it will trouble you.
I really, really mean it !!!!! It seems dashed off - like they were in a hurry! Too Hollywood for HP!!!!!!!! Avoid that last bit with determination - just a few pages!!!! You'll prefer it -
With love and respect -
Scott
Amazing, the way Rowling comes up with all of this. by .. Roxy (Los Angeles, CA) In truth, while I waited for Deathly Hallows to be released, I kept thinking to myself that there was no possible way Rowling could tie up all the loose ends from the first six books in the series. Of course, she proved me wrong. The book was amazing, and I'm glad that I couldn't guess where everything was going all the time. I might have gone through every emotion possible while reading in this book: Happy, sad, angry, weary (because of reading for several hours) and so on.
She kept consistent with the messages she's been applying since the beginning. People will die when it's a time of war, there will most definitely be tragedies, but in the end you couldn't help but feel happy for the survivors.
This woman is a genius, and I hope to read several more books from her in the future.
The Magic of Harry Potter by .. Louise A. Evans (Warren, Michigan United States) After the final book in the series came out, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I started from the beginning and read all of the Harry Potter books. I figured that now that the entire story was told, I would see what all the fuss was about - from beginning to end. I have to admit that I also love the Potter movies and when I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I was a little confused by the storyline. I determined to read all the books to understand what was going on!! (Years ago, I had started reading the first book, got half way through and put the book down. I lost interest, silly me.) Little did I know that the little tale of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling would grow through six more books to become an epic story of good and evil, love, loyalty, bravery, wisdom, truth, and ... magic!!!. As I read through the series, each new book became my new favorite (although I still have a special fondness for both the book and the movie version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban). When I finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, I believed that Rowling couldn't possibly top that story, but she did - in the grand finale that left me an emotional wreck at the end of the journey. I look forward to the rest of the movies - so that I can once again enjoy Harry's world. J.K. Rowling's series is a monumental treasure of storytelling that will be enjoyed for many generations to come.

The magic of Harry Potter by .. Mercedes (Colorado, USA) I read this book a few years ago, when the the thrill of Harry was in it's prime. I've seen the movie more times than I can count and I must say the movie is excellent but not as good as the book. I've just reread this book and can't beleive all I had forgotten. It's truly a page turner. From the start when Harry spots the Grim to when Mr Weasley warns Harry of Sirius Black's escape and hunt for Harry the reader is hooked. The Maurader's Map is a great addition to the Invisibility Cloak. The first 2 books were good, but you truly don't get into Harry until this book. Ron and Hermione's relationship is beginning to bud. Hermione is truly the goody goody in this installment. There were times I was mad at her with Ron and Harry. Getting the history of Harry's father's friends helped the story advance with background. This book also helps paint the picture of Snape and his hatered for Harry. The introduction of the Patronus is excellent. It's just as amazing in the book and the movie did a great job of reproducing it. All in all, I loved this book and recommend it to everyone who enjoys magic and fantasy reads.
Harry Potter by .. Kerry Ann Lasalvia () This series is fun for kids and adults. My son and I are reading it together!
Pesky Prisoner, Potions Professor Plus Puzzling Ploys Plague Potter by .. Franklin the Mouse (Gorham, ME USA) Good, solid storytelling. Ms. Rowling's third installment in the Harry Potter series continues to add interesting characters and create an even more appealing magical world for the reader to escape into. Each book has shown the gradual evolution of Harry from a neglected, abused child and mentored into a honorable young man. But the character-building journey is certainly a bumpy ride for young Potter. Moral messages and the complexities of the human condition abound as each new story has been introduced to the public. One of the underlying messages of the book is that most problems in life are not simply black and white, but more complicated. To convey this point in a fun, exciting manner is the sign of great writing. There's real heart to this series and deserves a wide readership.
One of the best! by .. I. Hoxie (New Jersey) I read this a long time ago and recently read it again. It is so good. I love the way that for once voldemort is not the center of this and I love the way you hear about the Marauders. I just have like, the perfect picture in my mind of them. This is one of my favorites in the whole series.

Product Description The first of three books in an exciting new series, The Book of Harry Potter Trifles, Trivias and Particularities is designed to delight and challenge Potter fans of all ages. Its nine quests, each built around a different aspect of wizardry — Hogwarts and Academia, Potions and Spells, Magical Menagerie, and others — contain questions in three skill levels: Salamander, Phoenix, and Dragon. These magical creatures increase in size, just as the questions increase in difficulty. All are associated with the element of fire, which is said to govern leadership, enthusiasm, and competitiveness, making it an ideal theme for question difficulty. An answer key at the end of each quest allows readers to check their answers by question number, with the source of the answer cited according to book and chapter number. Scattered throughout, hints and intriguing trivia tidbits, including little-known historical facts referenced in the Potter series, keep readers informed, engaged, and entertained. Customer reviews You THOUGHT you knew Harry Potter ... by .. Allen J. Venezio (Mount Dora, FL USA) This book is eye-opening! I have been an avid fan of Harry Potter for years with many reads of the entire series under my belt. I teach a Harry Potter class to elementary & middle school aged kids in the summer (which is why I bought this book). It is so much fun to realize how deep the HP universe really is! I can't wait for volumes 2 & 3 to come out.
This book is wonderfully organized and easy to use. The information is totally fascinating and the questions range from moderately to extremely challenging. There are also some great pages of trivia about the trivia answers.
For all who want to explore even more into the world of Harry Potter, this book is a great buy. Highly recommended!

Harry Potter trivia book is challenging and entertaining by .. S. Dunlap (Sandy, Utah) I got this book for my 3 kids, ages 11,18 and 22 who are all Harry Potter book fanatics and used to sit around and make up trivia questions to try to stump each other (especially the older 2). They all have enjoyed taking the quizzes and it is both challenging and entertaining. I would definitely recommend it for those who think they are well versed in Potter minutia--you might be surprised!
Fun for Kids, Adults, and the Serious Fan by .. Sola (NYC, USA) Having just finished this book, I'm going to skip ahead and say: I am delighted.
Skipping backwards, however:
- The simple skill levels provide an excellent ladder into the suprisingly voluminous information within: Young fans will be thrilled to be quizzed as Salamanders (Level 1), drawn on to learn more and graduate to Phoenixes (Level 2), and even adult fans will be challenged by Level 3, the Dragon.
- Hint boxes on almost every page make sure the reader isn't left to flounder if they're lost (or tempted to cheat!). They don't chivvy, scold, or insult, but instead encourage lateral thinking to get at the answers.
- However, the best part might be the extras. The answers are not simple, dry solutions; they are complete and filled with additional content and facts, making it a surprisingly useful reference.
- Trivia Tidbits! Never let it be said that curiosity, once fanned, was allowed to fizzle. The "tidbits" are actually quite meaty asides that often bring in real-world comparisons, point out the historical fact and mythology woven through the Harry Potter books, and encourage outside research and reading.
A wonderful idea for parents might be to purchase the book prior to a birthday and use the questions as a party game. This would work equally well for teenagers, and even adults. Harry Potter appeals to nearly everyone, and this book makes it fun to share trivia and thoughts on the series with friends.
So You Think You're A Potter Fan? by .. Tracy Leeflang (Almere, Netherlands) I'll come right out and admit that I expected this book to be a cakewalk. I've read the entire series of books multiple times, and I was convinced that I'd have no problem answering even the difficult questions. Well, I've been well and truly humbled.
Ms. Maltese has gathered an incredible range of facts and tidbits from seemingly nowhere. The book itself is divided into individual quests, or areas of knowledge, then further broken down into three levels of difficulty: salamander, phoenix, and dragon. I knew I was in trouble when I started missing phoenix questions!
Fortunately, the answers are supplied at the end of the chapter, along with some fun trivia bits. I actually went and double-checked some of those answers for accuracy, and the book was right every time.
This book would be a great at a party, or for a fund-raiser trivia quiz. I think this would also be a great idea translated into other languages, since many of the character names are completely different in each country.
My hat is off to Ms. Maltese and her impeccable research skills. I challenge all Potter fans to try their hand and test their Potter knowledge!

The entire coloring book collection in 1 book! by .. Lika Laruku (Seattle.) Well, not EVERY Harry Potter coloring book picture made it into this collection, but I'd say 90% of them did. The 2 Deluxe coloring kit & stained glass coloring book images were excluded because they were book-based rather than movie based. With a collage of several artists renditions of screencaps & posters from the movies, I feel that this book would have been good at $10, but that's because I'm a collector. My only qualms with the book are 1 repeated image & the same problem almost all coloring books share; the type of paper it's printed on does not protects against color bleeding from markers & isn't opaque enough; you can see the image on the other side right through. I reccomend keeping the book in pristine condition & just makeing toner-based copies for children to color. I reccommend actually coloring in the book if you're an art student who excels with colored pencils or crayons, for shading, highlighting, & blending practice.
Great coloring book! by .. BurleysGirl (CA United States) I am very happy with this coloring book, and expect to get lots of use out of it! There are hundreds of detailed pictures from all 5 movies. My only complaint is that several of the pictures seem to be printed in less than perfect clarity, resembling printing on tracing paper rather than coloring book quality.
Still very worth it to any lover of HP or coloring.

Hogwarts Through The Years Poster Book (Harry Potter Movie V) by by .. Jacqueline Puchades () i just love this harry potter item its like an albun with photos of hogwarts through the years.
Good for the Avid Harry Potter Movie Fan by .. Kamepan (California, USA) "Hogwarts Through the Years" is a nice keepsake for any die-hard fan of the Harry Potter films. It features photos from all five movies to date. There are pictures of the Hogwarts staff and students of the various Houses, not just Gryffindor.
The book has a glossy hardcover, which gives it a nice appearance. But I can only give this book four stars because some of the photos included are just horrible. Instead of high-quality images, some of the photos of students are nothing but cropped, low-res screen caps from the movies. They're blurry and look bad juxtaposed with the higher-quality images.
It looks like Scholastic threw this book together in a hurry to coincide with the box-office release of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix". But since the price is low, and it's a hardcover book, it's not that bad of a deal. Especially if you love the films.
A Nice "Yearbook" by .. Hurley (Some island) This is like a yearbook. Has some great pics of the cast from the movie, complete with sections on each character, and some other categories
