. Customer reviews Easy Read by .. S. Brown (Providence, RI USA) Though I never took the exam, I found this book very easy to follow and almost as good as having an instructor lead you.
Exceptional A+ Preparation Book by .. Sean Mayne () This book is a very good book for anyone planning to take the A+ certification exam. It covers every area thoroughly and the practice exams that it provides are very good.
Technically accurate by .. Steven A. O'Donnell () I like this book and the author(s) Written in a way that a 5 year old would not have trouble understanding..ok maybe not five but you needn't go to college to get the gist of it.
Great Aid by .. Certified FED (Hercules, CA USA) Mike Meyers' "A+ Certification All-in-ne Exam Guide, Sixth Edition (A+ Certification All in One Exam)" was a great help in passing the CompTia A+ exams. I successfuly passed the 601 Essentials and 602 IT Technician tests the first time around; praise God. I wish I had bought the book at the start of my Instructor lead program instead of in the middle.
As far as I was concerned the book was extremely readable not dry at all. So re-reading and/or studying was not that much of a chore. We were issued Mike Meyers' "Certification Passport...3rd Edition", however when I need to know something in depth I turned to "big book". If you have the money to invest I highly recommend this book!
Excellent! by .. Albert E. Straniti (Connecticut) This is the best book to use to study for the A+ exams. It even came with a CD containing practice tests. All this for 35 dollars is pretty darn good.

 Author : Jeff Smith Edition : Revised Number of Pages : 1300 Publisher : Cartoon Books List Price : $39.95 Amazon Price : $20.39 Used Price : $20.45 |
Product Description An American graphic novel first! The complete 1300-page epic adventure from start to finish in one deluxe trade paperback. Three modern cartoon cousins get lost in a pre-technological valley, speanding a year there making new friends and out-running dangerous enemies. Their many adventures include crossing the local people in The Great Cow Race, and meeting a giant mountain lion called RockJaw: Master of the Eastern Border. They learn about sacrifice and hardship in The Ghost Circles and finally discover their own true natures in the climatic journey to The Crown of Horns. Customer reviews Wow by .. reader (California) Wow. Just Wow. I mean wow! Everyone who reads anything knows that a lot of the time people make it sound a lot better than it really is. But this is the greatest comic of all time, besides Watchmen. I could go on about the specific points about how great the book is, but instead I will say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Keep on Drawing, Jeff Smith!
The entire original cartoon epic in its original B&W glory by .. Robert Moore (Chicago, IL USA) I find it interesting that a significant number of those giving this less than five-stars complain about this being in black and white and not in color as with the smaller volumes. There is a great reason for this: They were published in Black and White to begin with! The colorized volumes are an addition. Now, I personally love the original pen and ink drawings. If someone wants the colorized versions instead, fine. But please don't labor under the impression that what is published entire in this volume is a diminished version of BONE. It is, and will always remain, the original version.
Apart from the quibbling over B&W versus color, there is no debate that this is one of the truly great achievements in the history of comic art. I know of no very long comic story that can match this for quality of story as well as epic scope. Visually the story is deeply indebted to Walt Kelly; narratively to Tolkein. It really does read and feel like "Pogo meets LORD OF THE RINGS." It is also a very strange universe. The world feels medieval and premodern, yet Fone Bone, the novel's main protagonist, carries with him his beloved copy of Melville's MOBY DICK. This oddity just makes the entire affair all that much more enjoyable.
"Epic" is a word that is thrown around a lot, so often that it is applied where it doesn't often truly belong. But Jeff Smith's BONE is as epic as any graphic work ever published. I reread some of the early pages of the book immediately after finishing it and it had some of the same sense of having traveled league after league that you get at the end of WAR AND PEACE or LES MISERABLES. This is a rich, textured, detailed, yet ultimately unified story. Some graphic novelist seem to some degree to be making up or altering the story as they go along. Smith seems to have had the end in mind at the beginning, an amazing achievement given the book's 13-year range of publication. Like any epic novel, it is filled with characters, not just the Bones from Boneville, but Thorn, Grandma, Lucius, a red dragon (in the original black and white his color is often refered to), a rat creature appropriately named Bartleby, to a remarkably simple to draw bug named Ted. On the final pages there is an overpowering sense of how far they have all gone and precisely how much has happened. The book ends with a sense of enormity unequaled in graphic art. I loved Brian K. Vaughan's Y: THE LAST MAN, but much of what happened in that huge work could have been excised without harming the main storyline. But virtually no part of BONE could be removed without lessening it as a work of art. I would argue that it is probably the longest completely unified long story ever told in graphic form. There are longer graphic series (though not many), like Bill Willingham's magnificent (and still ongoing) FABLES, but it tells a series of stories, not a single one.
Jeff Smith's BONE should be on the shortest of short lists of graphic novels to own, read, and treasure. It routinely appears on lists of the all time greatest graphic novels and should continue to do so as long as such lists are made. My only complaint with it is that it came to an end. Jeff Smith did do a prequel entitled ROSE, dealing with the youthful adventures of Thorn's grandmother, but it isn't the same. It is a mark of how great this work is that you regret that we can't continue with Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone (not to mention Bartleby) on their adventures. There have been other Bone spin offs, but none featuring the main Bone characters of this novel.
I'll end by noting that Smith has sold the film rights to BONE to Warner Brothers and they are currently working to bring it to the screen, most likely as a CGI film. Smith is apparently going to be quite involved, so there is good reason to hope that it will be a worthy project.
Excellent, but with New Age overtones. by .. Edward W. Cole (USA) The Bone books combine a well-drawn and very funny comic book format with a story line that becomes very serious by the end of the series.
The "dreaming", which is a big part of the plot, is very New Age, and Christian parents should be aware of that if their children want to read the books. Otherwise, it is very good.
Annoyed with the publishers by .. Debra A. Bailey (Cary, NC) Why did the publisher put all the stories in one edition, and take away the COLOR in the drawings??? Half of the artistic delivery, is the drawings....and an important part of that is the artist's use of color. I wanted the entire collection, and to be able to savor the full experience of story, drawing, color, all as was given in the separate editions. When I received the book, I was thrilled until I opened it and saw that they had given me a product minus half the experience. And that is not really made clear in the description. You think you're buying the collected equivalent of the separate editions. But you're not....Most disappointing.
I could not put it down. by .. William Hoffknecht (Fernley, NV) I started collecting the comics, but really only as a collector, so I wanted to read the entire story put together. I bought this here on Amazon, for far cheaper then any place else, and started reading it. I read the entire 1200 pages in about two days. I could not put it down. Jeff Smith out together a beautiful and fun story and now it is all together in one big book.
This is the black and white versions just like the comics are, but the full color volumes are really a bit easier on the eyes, and if you are wanting to get Bone for children, you almost have to get the full color versions and not this big volume which will just intimidate them I believe.
In the end, this is a must read book for comic fans. Once you get a bit through it, you will know why Jeff Smith is so highly respected. =)

Customer reviews In good shape, good as new by .. Alina N. Adams (Tennessee) well, the book was in good shape, except it was the wrong edition for the class I was taken .I looked up the number and this is the book they showed, so I guess next time I have to be more careful.
Very good readings by .. L. Fritts () Very good readings with author biographies and summaries. I had to buy this for a college class but I will not be selling this one after class is finished. It is quite heavy and the print is very small. But it packs a lot of classics, essays, poetry, and stories.
Norton Anthology by .. servant74 (Near Nashville, TX United States) What can I say. It was what my kid needed when it was needed. Great works under one cover.
English book by .. Kristine L. Mahoney () A not so great item. It is the exact book I needed, but not in the condition I expected. On the side of the book were a ton of pencil marks, several bent pages, etc. Still very usuable, I just did not expect that much marking. In addition to that, it also took at least 2-3 weeks for me to recieve my book. Not to happy with that, but it was within the dates Amazon said it would be.
A Decent Reference Work by .. Andrew Essary (Springfield, MO United States) I bought this because it was the required text book for one of my college classes, and I probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise. That being said, this has excerpts from many famous works from around the world and I liked it enough to keep it instead of selling back at the end of the semester. I wish that some of the works were more complete, some of them are so common that they didn't need to be included at all, and some of the translations of foreign works are questionable, in my opinion. Nitpicking aside, this is a pretty decent reference work for world literature.

Jared Jaeger () I first found this book in a dumpster behind a school. I was 6 years old and read this book. Many of the concepts were easy enough to understand as a youngster. I will never forget the concept of 3phase electricity that I grasped from that book. Thanks to this book I have put instrumentation on the International Space Station and work with Femtosecond laser systems.
Thank you Harry Mileaf! Well done.
Amazing! by .. Andrew Havryliv (Sydney, Australia) Clearly, logically organised with the best illustrations and supporting, explanatory text. Worth every cent. A masterpiece!

Bob (Las Vegas) This book was a cornerstone of my studying regimen & I passed with a 750 out of 900. Mike writes in a conversational tone & makes dry technical information easy to understand. I used Exam Cram to help focus me on the stuff that I'd likely encounter on the test. It was a winning combination.
Network + Exam Guide Review by .. Avril Skeete () The book was fascinating and informative for the first eight chapters then it was stolen from me while at work. I originally bought it to study before I took the exam. I refuse to purchase another one for fear of the same thing happening. I used the book to study at work and that is where it was stolen beneath my nose. I recommend this book highly to anyone interested in Network + and becoming certified.
Definitely not "All-In-One" by .. J. Wilcurt (Indianapolis, Indiana United States) This book does a great job of helping you understand how networking works, but literally does not cover half of what's on the new Net+ 2007 exam. Read this book if you need to learn or review the basics, then get ANY book that came out in or after 2007.
Network + book Review by .. Ronald Wilson () This book is very well written and easy to understand and I believe it will help me to pass the network + exam.

Product Description With a collection of 300 sources, each accompanied by an introductory essay and review questions, this two-volume primary source reader emphasizes the intellectual history and values of the Western tradition. Sources are grouped around important themes in European history, allowing students to analyze and compare multiple documents. The Seventh Edition features additional sources by and about women, new attention to cultural and artistic documents, and updates to introductions and review questions. Customer reviews [ but why a 7th edition ??? ] by .. W Boudville (Terra, Sol 3) The idea behind a book like this is to acquaint students with historical documents, by giving translated excerpts. The latter are chosen to be succinct and somehow, given the vagaries of time and translation, convey the essentials of viewpoints centuries vanished.
Indeed, this seems quite successful. All the authors and excerpted works will be familiar to historians. So we have Marcus Aurelius and his Mediations. And Maimonides on Jewish learning. The selections are diverse across time, religion and subject matter.
The book takes the pragmatic view that most students, even of history, are unlikely to read the full works of these writers, even in translated form, let alone in the original languages. Thus the acquaintances brought about by this book may well be the only exposures many readers will ever get to these past luminaries.
A dissenting view about the book is based on the observation that it is the 7th edition. All the original authors have been dead for centuries. Their texts don't change. So why, in the space of a few recent years, have there been 7 editions of the book?

Great Textbook! as long as it is the right one for your class ! LOL! by .. Kimberly Ann Giovenco (Houston, Texas USA) Yeah I know not a textbook review; bottom line if your professor asks for this book suck it up and buy it, whether it is boring or not!! That being said, Great textbook prices on Amazon. They actually charge what the book is worth. I do realize that they have little overhead comapred to College bookstores, but I also realize that College students are usually on shoestring budgets and Barnes and Noble owns alot of bookstores and maybe could do some sort of charitable contribution towards education, instead of being a reverse Robin Hood. Don't get me wrong I love capitalism, I just hate people that are going to school to be intelligent, only to buy from someone that is gougin you!

Best U.S. History Survey Textbook on the market today by .. Along Red River of the North (Moorhead, MN) "We all declare for liberty, but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing." - Abraham Lincoln (1864)
Lincoln's aphorism is the pivotal crux of U.S. history explored by Professor Foner in this first-rate textbook for upper-grade high school students or freshman and sophomore college students.
Foner explores how and why the meanings of liberty and freedom changed throughout American history. In examining any particular period, he asks the crucial historical questions:
What new ideas about liberty and freedom circulated? What new circumstances generated them?
How did they expand/develop or contract/regress?
What groups or individuals supported or thwarted them?
Why did they find fertile ground or face hostility?
Foner asserts that three (3) dimensions of liberty and freedom have been critical in American history:
1) the (contested) meanings of liberty and freedom;
2) the social conditions that made liberty and freedom possible; and
3) the boundaries of liberty and freedom that determined who was entitled to enjoy freedom and who was not.
As summarized by David Hackett Fischer, "what made America free, and keeps it so, was not any single version of liberty and freedom but the interplay of many visions."
A US History interesting book by .. Ricardo Arjona () It is a book that has all the facts of US History. It gives extra details to place every detail given in the right place. It is also very easy to read and would go along great with a lecture class. Personally I read this book with Howard Zinn side by side so I could get the facts and opinion at the same time. Very good book.

A good introduction to financial concepts by .. Vicky Sharma (Troy, NY, YSA) The book provides a good introduction to financial concepts. It clearly exlains, in a progressive fashion, the concepts that form the basis of financial analysis and pricing.

Not ust another text book by .. Davyd Ramirez () I was tortured by ridiculously hard exams and a calculator that made we want to tear my hair out. But it wasn't the book's fault. I am going to school while I work so I don't have a lot of time to devote to a class. The book was well paced and not to wordy. It stressed reading comprehension and had many levels of financial problems for every type of reader. I purchased the study guide to understand the harder questions. It was a blessing on my open book tests. The text book comes with the answers (not solutions) in the appendix, but did have the solutions to the self-test questions. It also comes with a handy cheat sheet of equations for every chapter in the appendix as well.

Greatest finance book I have ever used by .. E. Nurgalieva (Rochester, NY) I used this book for Corporate Finance class. It is concise, not boring (at least for me), explains everything in a clear, straightforward manner. The problems at the end of each chapter are definitely helpful not just for exam preparation, but also for a better understanding of overall subject matter.
Fundamentals of Financial Management by .. Alysse Ratta (Saunderstown, RI USA) Everything came as promised, unfortunately I found a better deal around here, by about 50 dollars so I just had to bite the bullet and send it back.
Excellent textbook for gaining an understanding of Finance by .. Susan C. Van Abs (groton, ma) This text book is an excellent resource for understanding Financial Management. It was a required text in my MBA program and the book is easy to go through on your own. There are exercises, or self tests, at the end of each section in the chapters, as well as many types of problems and self test questions at the end of the chapters.
We had a mediocre teacher in my MBA program, so going through the text was imperative. The authors do a great job breaking down concepts and some of the examples at end of chapter sections have the answers.
I comes with a supplemental booklet to further help undertand the "Time Value of Money" which, according to the authors, is a difficult concept.
One big plus for this text is that it shows you how to figure out the problems using formulas, using financial caluclators, and using an Excel spreadsheet.
I highly recommend doing the examples and problems in the book, and ordering the study guide. The study guide has additional examples and problems to work through and is the perfect supplement.
This is one text I am going to keep!
