Customer reviews Ripoff - Just a re-arranged version of previous editions by .. tagger9 (Texas) I use Floyd's books to teach electronics courses in a community college. They're OK books, but Floyd is one of those writers that just has to write new editions all the time, which forces students/instructors to buy new books. My students were just told by the bookstore that they can't return they're 6th edition for buyback, and they will now be forced to buy the 7th edition to complete the 2nd semester of their studies.
DC and AC circuits are basically the same now as they were twenty years ago. There is no need for constant revisions in such a slowly changing field. I have seen Floyd's books change over the years - the content is about the same, but each new edition just seems to be a bunch of re-arrangements and added fluff (like which calculator keys to hit, even though the pictured steps don't work on many calculators).
The small changes needed to a textbook, such as adding new Multisim files, should be done on a companion website, not in a new edition. The new editions seem like a gimmick to increase sales. I will be switching to a different author for future courses.
A good intoductory book to electric circuits by .. () I found this book well written in a manner that was easily understood for new comers to the subject. The chapters are arranged in a proggresive manner compounding everything as it goes along. In my eyes, this book is a great way to learn the fundimentals of electic ciciuts.

Hughes (Pine Ridge, SD United States) In order to take additional classes in Telecom, like fiber optics, and other types of hardware classes this AC/DC Electricity class is required and this is the Text Book for the Class. Floyd is the author and he seems to do a good job. I'm not a fan of this field but it is very necessary. You MUST be motivated to read this book and work the problems to get a good understanding of AC/DC Electricity. I work with my cousin who tutors at the local Vo-Tech for AC/DC Electricity. This is not the text book they use, I'm at PACE University, he was surprised to see a convential current version vs. the electron flow. Doesn't seem to cause a big problem. I think I found numerous errors in the book on the answers to problems which can really get you stuck for hours on the math. The chapters are very long for my taste but match very closely to other AC/DC electricity books. The other books we have looked at sometimes provide simpler examples that are easier for me to understand.
This is one of those books that a person like myself from the Information Technology World would appreciate more in time. This is my first class dedicated to electricity. I will keep this book around for years to come to see if it gets better in time.
I don't know that I'd ever want to take another electricity class again! It is a lot of work! The other day at the 9-1-1 Center I work at needed new circuits connected to the generator and the UPS batteries changed. I had to work with the electrician and I certainly knew more about electricity than I ever did in the past. That is directly related to this book!
NICE! NICE! NICE! by .. DR1FTK1NG (Houston, TX USA) excellent condition, barely used, its like they bought it and never opened it! It came in super fast compared to last time. 4-5 days just like it said. AMAZON rocks!
Good book with ~no math (extremist) by .. SIMPLE ! () This book explains in great detail every concept but when it comes to math , the author replaces it with an intuitive manner (such as : experimentaly it is know that ... so ... ; think at the water as being electric current ...).The only thing that can be considered as being math are formulas and some exercises (require basic calculus) , nothing more.So if you want to reach that formula by yourself then you must choose another book. The math beyond Electric Circuits in general is very simple but it seems that Floyd preffered to use those 1k pages to write aditional explanations instead of demonstrations. So this book is a great deal for those who want to begin designing. This book has a target audience but I think everyone in this field must own this because no other book has so many coloured graphs , explanations , many real electric components (schematics and descriptions) , experiments drawn in a real way.I'm glad that I bought this.I give it 4 stars because of no math (some portions requires it).
very good... by .. () there are many quality first course textbooks for electric circuits... but did u notice that these books have some gaps.. the books that cover COUPLED NETWORKS (x,y,z parameteres) don't cover much on filters or waveshaping circtuis (RC/RL integrators and differentiators) .. and the books that cover the waveshaping and filters.. don't cover the coupled networks topic this book covers waveshaping and filters very well.. but no mention of COUPLE NETWORK techniques... which are integral to TRULY understanding the subsequent ELECTRIC DEVICES courses... otherwise.. the rest is very well presented
Focuses on fundamentals and provides good applications by .. B. Jacobsen (Seattle, WA USA) This books focuses on the fundamentals of electric circuits. It walks students very carefully through the basics of electric circuits. What I liked in particular was that the book provides examples of things like: "why would you place resistors in parallel" or "why would you place resistors in a series". It has a CD in the back that I haven't tried yet, but looks interesting. The CD has more experiments with circuits using a simulator or two.

Customer reviews You can learn the basic principles of electronics in class or on your own with this terrific text by .. Craig Matteson (Ann Arbor, MI) What a terrific introduction to electronics! The author explains electricity, the relevant formulae, the basic physics of electricity, electromagnetism and a lot more. The text requires no more than algebra and right angle trigonometry. I find the text clear, engaging, and quite understandable even without an instructor to help me.
Each chapter begins with an outline of what is going to be discussed, chapter objectives, key terms, application assignment, web materials, and an introduction. The text uses color very well, is richly illustrated, and is mindful of the student learning process. I like the way the author introduces a point, poses a problem that he then solves, and then asks you a similar problem to work on your own (with the answer provided at the end of the chapter). At the end of each chapter there is a bullet point summary, key terms with definitions, a self-test to check your understanding, and a section by section set of basic problems.
The text has 21 chapters divided into three parts. Part 1 discusses DC circuits (quantities & units, voltage - current & resistance, Ohm's Law - Energy & Power, Series Circuits, Parallel Circuits, Series Parallel Circuits, Magnetism & Electromagnetism). Part 2 discusses AC Circuits (Introduction to Alternating Current & Voltage, Capacitors, RC Circuits, Inductors, RL Circuits, RCLS Circuits & Resonance, Transformers, Time Response & Reactive Circuits). Part 3 discusses Devices (Diodes & Applications, Transistors & Applications, the Operational Amplifier, Basic Op-Amp Circuits, Special Purpose Op-Amp Circuits, Measurement - Conversion & Control).
There are also 5 appendices having a table of standard values, capacitor color coding & marking, Norton's Theorem & Millman's Theorem, Devices Data Sheets, Field-Programmable Analog Arrays (FPAAs). A glossary, index and answers to odd number questions are provided as well.
This text is, of course, usable in college or high school introductory courses to electronics, but it is also usable by interested general readers who want to build or fill in their understanding of the basic principles and applications of electronics.

Customer reviews Good book by .. M. Hernandez (Miami, Fl.) Its a good book and all the notes are accurate. My only compliant is the the tabs are a little bit hard to read. The way the lettering is done makes it difficult to see the letters while ur trying to play along with the song.
Besides that its awesome, and a must have for Floyd loving musicians.

Definitive Dark Side of the Moon for guitar.... by .. Kirk Noah (Bellingham, WA United States) Attractive book design with perfect guitar tablature of the Pink Floyd classic album 'Dark Side of the Moon'. Book comes complete with rare photos and a 1973 interview with the band's Road Manager, Peter Watts. Watts gives a very informative and detailed description of what the band did to achieve their live sound in the early 70's. Tablature is perfect and true to the album note for note.
Good As The Original Music by .. Matt (texas) If you are a guitarist like me, and enjoy Pink Floyd, this is a great book for you. Internet TABS are unpredictiable and inaccurate. This book clears up the confusion by giving the proper TABS to the songs of one of the best selling records of all time. This book is strong in its accuracy from the first note of Speak to me to the haunting melodies of Eclipse. I suggest this book as a gift to any fan of Pink Floyd that has wanted to play there songs.

Product Description Every song on the critically acclaimed new album from one of the most important bands. Includes: High Hopes, Take It Back, A Great Day For Freedom, Cluster One, and Lost For Words. Customer reviews The spirit is willing, but the binding is weak by .. FloydWaters () I'd like to first warn those who purchase this book to be aware of how weak its binding is. The first time you expose it to a hot car in the summer may well be your last if you're not careful! I very nearly destroyed the binding that way within moments after purchase--the glue simply wasn't able to withstand this, and with such heavy paper as this is printed on, the result was nearly cracking the book in half. As it is, it barely holds together at "Wearing the Inside Out" (the first thing I opened it to). This is an oversight on the part of the publisher, if you ask me, to use such heavy paper and then such weak binding for it. But don't blame the band for it, or those who put the book together, of course... The review below has many legitimate points, to which I would like to add from a slightly different perspective. I am not very advanced with the guitar, and I'd call myself a mid-level amateur keyboardist. Accuracy is definitely a plus here; having spent a great deal of time looking at Internet tabs, I can make the fairly qualified statement that you will get a much more accurate transcription here than you can find on the Internet--especially when dealing with the more intricate chord structures authored by Richard Wright. The discriminating ear will be satisfied here. So will the eye--aside from the binding problem, what is IN the book is presented wonderfully, both the artwork and the songs themselves are pleasing to look at. From a player's perspective, though, I will say that the comments about the difficulty level are correct, and also that this doesn't provide all a keyboardist may need--although it does provide invaluable hints at it.
Division Bell Book = one of the best guitar tabliture books by .. frburns@swbell.net (Leavenworth Kansas) When I ordered and recieved my Division Bell Guitar Tab book, I just assumed it would be just like another sheet music book, but boy was I wrong. This book not only features very accurate details of David Gilmour's wonderful guitar playing, but it's loaded with great pictures and rare artwork of the bands album. If you like Pink Floyd and you play guitar, this is one book you must have. Two things should be kept into consideration before buying this book, if you are new at guitar, dont purchase this highly advanced book, and if you are buying this book for any other instrument instead of guitar, dont buy it. Some might think 30+ dollars is a lot for a book, and it isn't cheap, but considering how much work went into this book with the great color pages, rare pictures, great artwork and authentic transcriptions, it makes it all worth it. -Britt B.

The price was right and the book has helped my son learn the songs he loves from this album on piano. Our house is filled with the notes almost every day.
Not the version pictured! Buyer beware! by .. David E. Waldrop () Beware, the version of The Wall tab pictured is NOT the one that Amazon is selling. It is a newer version. While not bad, I was really expecting the other version after seeing it in a local store. (I liked the older one better...)
Amazon, please update your product image and description.
Not bad, but... by .. * (*) Why can't they publish a book like this with a spiral binding? With a paperback binding it makes it impossible to have a guitar in your hands and the book open to a particular page. I went to OfficeMax and had the binding cut off and a spiral binding put in its place. There...much better now...
Bad Print by .. Click (USA) My copy's print was so bad, it was not readable in areas. I sent mine back. I can't say anything about the accuracy of the tab.
++++++ by .. Ben Swofford (Oxford, OH USA) This book is great to learning a different techinique of guitar playing - namely Gilmour style - but isn't the best if you're looking to play the licks just like in the album. This is in part because their isn't only one guitar part, despite the fact that there is but one guitarist (there is more than one track of guitar). And, as in any tablature book I have studied, the authors put in every detail that was played in a single song. I imagine they sit down and listen over and over to a song and find every little thing played. I wish that they wouldn't do this, because I think it's better for players to just know the basic things that are played, and then just jam.
But, I deffinetly recomend this for any aspiring guitarists, and those who are Floyd fans, obviously.
