WOW what a disappointment.

Kudos to the Author for publishing such a wonderful book.
Windows Vista All in Desk for Dummies by .. Julia A. Martin () Received book on time paged through it a few times lots of good info been too busy to actually use it sure I will though
Lots of chatter, but neglects too many nuts and bolts. by .. From middle America. (Northern California) I took an afternoon and went through this book from cover to cover - admittedly not all topics drew my careful attention. Too many operational details are missing: hit this key, then go to x and enter ..... etc. In sum, although my system is up and running (and was before I bought the book), I am missing instruction on many basic operations.
Try somewhere else.
WINDOWS VISTA by .. AEF (OHIO) Windows Vista For Dummies
I have read alot of these books and find this one actually more complicated than the rest. Vista is fairly new anyway!. I bought the TEACH YOURSELF VISUALLY / MICROSOFT WINDOWS VISTA after this book and found it to be a much better learning tool than this one. I prefer visuals anyway and will probably not buy anymore dummy books without visuals. I think most of them are text anyway, so unless they change some of the future content to visual, they can keep the rest. I wish I had saved my money on this one.
Great book by .. Ammon Morgan III (Philly, PA USA) This is a great book for people who do not understand vista and it's complicated GUI. This was great i got it for my grandparents and now they are asking me about things i have no idea about, and I'm a CIS major. Great book really suggest it

Customer reviews Too basic by .. Beto Bens (Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon Mexico) If you dont know anything about network but you dont need take important information about this in your working environment... buy it.
met expectations by .. Christopher L. Vandevender () good book, much like all the others, this one is actually 10 books in one (its pretty thick), I purchased for a quick review of networking. this book met that need, and went into more detail than i needed, such as specific instructions for configuring servers, etc. the last couple of chapters/books weren't applicable to me, so I didn't read them. Otherwise, this is a great book for getting up to speed on the terms and processes around networking, unless you are already a techie in which case it will probably be too basic. If you like the other dummies books, you'll like this one too.
Excellent Book! by .. Wells Fargo (SF Bay Area "aka silicon valley") This helped me learn a lot and have a grip on things in the avast world of networking, This is the perfect book for beginners and it will help anyone get started. This book touches on all the subjects and gives you a basic view of how everything works from internet protocol, wireless networking, to Linux to server 03, and so on so that you can determine what path you want to specialize in but it also gives you enough info to "get you by" on any hands on project or job that requires it. Those who complain about this not having enough info are not seeing the clearer picture because if this truly contained all in one material it would have to be between 3000 to 5000 pages long and this book is already a heavy weight at 800. This book really helped me put my foot on the door with a job at a data storage company, I was able to "get by" thanks to this book and I am on the road to learn more "ccna by todd lammle" So far that book is great too, had I not read this book first, the ccna 1000 page book would be impossible to understand.
Satisfied... by .. G. Ortiz (LA, CA) This book has a ton of information. Mostly for the beginner, but veterans in the trade may also benefit. I've only used the book as a reference, but I plan on reading cover to cover.

Customer reviews Digital Photography for Dummies 8 Books in 1 by .. Eddie G. Daniels (Havelock, NC USA) This book is great. All I expected and more. Price was more than reasonable.
wealth of photography information by .. Bill Coleman () This is a very thick book. But it is a wealth of information on digital photography. You can use it as a reference or read the entire book. Most books you get on photography are outdated, and have not got much information on Digital Photography. this an up to date one.
Disappointing by .. Michael J. Snyder (San Antonio, Texas) I found this book particularly annoying in part because it continually suggests the reader can learn MORE about a given topic of interest by buying another book by the author. It blows off Mac and I found it a waste of money.
"Aim" is off by .. Allan B. Stevenson (fairfield, CA) The book is filled with info, but it "focuses" on the digital SLR, rather than the point and shoot. There should have been a warning in the description. It's still useful.
Digital Photography for Dummies by .. Beverly Bechtel () This book is huge and covers most anything one can think of on this topic. I bought it for my husband who has recently acquired a digital camera. He hasn't begun to even scratch the surface but has already found it helpful and knows it will as he tries new things.

Can't ask for better book: "The Everyday Internet All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies (For Dummies)" by .. Samuel A. Turks () I've first checked this book out from the Chicago Public Library three times and once kept it two months after the book check out expired. The I purchased the book myself. I can not offer enough praise for this well researched and written book on the Internet. This is definitely the "Book" for pros and "dummies" alike.
I have been working in technology for eighteen years with the U.S. Navy and using the Internet for nine years now and admittedly I only possessed about less 10% of the available resources that was presented in this book. Just visiting and bookmarking all those interesting link to various useful Web sites was good enough for me (100+ useful bookmarks from this book alone).
My college textbooks and other "big computer books" weren't as valuable as this one. With this new gained knowledge, I've referred this book to my instructor for the "Basic Internet Class" that I took at the one of the City Colleges of Chicago (Truman College) and my fellow classmates agreed that this book "The Everyday Internet All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies" was more informative than our classroom resources and textbook. Buy this book if you want to REALLY learn something about this subject.
One final thought, read Mr. Peter Weverka's "The Internet Giga Book for Dummies". You won't be disappointed in my recommendation on this wonderful read. Peace out and take care.
Excellent!! by .. Jason R. Bunner (Fishers, IN) You'll learn more practical information about "everything internet" within the pages of this book than 7 years of online meandering. Seriously, just buy this sucker cause it provides clear answers to questions you don't even know you have yet, or should have. Excellent book. Truly a horizon broadener.
Great book by Prolific Technical Writer by .. JimBob JoeBob (San Francisco, CA) I turn to this book all the time for information on how to build and maintain my blog (phatmike.motime.com). The best, most informative book that I've ever read on the subject.
Thanks, Mister Weverka!!!

Explore the best and brightest Web sites and services by .. Peter W. () Pardon me for being immodest and giving this book a 5-star rating, since I'm the author, but I believe this is the best book going about the latest incarnation of the Internet.
These are exciting times for the Internet. Peer-to-peer file sharing, news aggregators, and other advances in technology have inspired a new generation of Web sites and services. Never before has the Internet offered so many ways to conduct research, entertain yourself, or learn new things.
The motive behind this book is to present everything on the Internet that's worth doing because it's useful, it's a lot of fun, or it's innovative and therefore worth checking out. Close to a thousand different Web sites are described in this book, but this book isn't a directory of Web sites. The focus is on doing things -- researching, online banking, communicating, making new friends, playing games, talking over the Internet telephone, online shopping, online selling, and blogging.
In the course of describing these and other activities -- everyday activities that can be part of your Internet repertoire -- I introduce you to the best and brightest of the Internet.
For those who are interested, this book looks at the technical aspects of the Internet. It tells you how to select an ISP and gives you instructions for connecting your computer to the Internet. The book explains how to protect your privacy and security, and keep viruses and spyware at bay, as well as how to use the different plug-ins (Flash, Acrobat Reader, and others). You will find advice for making the Internet a safe and rewarding experience for children, many Web sites for children and parents, and instructions for using America Online.
Find out how to use a Web browser and how to be an Internet researcher, or better yet, an Internet detective from this book. It explains search techniques for reaching into all corners of the Internet to quickly find the information you need. You discover how to get the latest news and how to stay on top of late-breaking news with aggregators, as well as how to use different e-mail programs (some free and some not). You get definitive instructions in this book for preventing your inbox from being inundated with spam.
Look to this book to refine instant messenger programs, create a blog, and find mailing lists and message boards where you can exercise your obsessions. You find out how to conduct research in newsgroups and subscribe to newsgroups, as well as how to join or create your own Yahoo! group and chat on the IRC.
For budding Web site developers, this book demonstrates how to create a Web site on the cheap and how to submit a Web site to search engines so the site gets more hits. You also explore the social networking phenomenon and learn about Web sites and services where you can make new friends and reunite with old ones. The book has detailed instructions for setting up your computer so you can make free long-distance telephone calls over the Internet.
I devote part of the book to online finances -- how to research investments and get the latest financial news, maintain an online investment portfolio, and do your banking chores online.
You will find many shopping search engines and Web sites that specialize in comparison-shopping, as well as online catalogs, stores for bargain hunters, consumer-report Web sites, and an "online shopping bazaar" with hundreds of off-beat online shops worth visiting. I take you to a number of online auction houses, including eBay, and you discover how to search for, bid on, and buy items at bargain prices, as well as how to pay for items with the excellent PayPal service.
You find out how to be the first on your block to be an online seller and how you can make money by selling or conducting a business over the Internet.
Finally, the book looks into different Internet pastimes and pursuits. I'm warning you: Some of these activities are addictive. You discover the many excellent genealogical research Web sites and how to conduct genealogical research for free over the Internet. The book also looks at games sites, including novel games such as Geocaching. For travelers and armchair-adventurers, I direct you to Web sites where you can get travel advice, plan vacations, purchase tickets, and book hotel rooms and rental cars. You discover how to turn your lowly computer into an entertainment console by purchasing music online or sharing music files.
I am intrigued by the idea that a Web site is a creative endeavor in and of itself -- that a Web site is a clickable piece of artwork. For this book, I chose not only Web sites that are useful for finding information or buying things but also Web sites that I consider intriguing, wonderful, astonishing, bizarre, or entertaining.
Some people are calling this latest incarnation of the Internet "the Web 2.0." This book is your guide to the next incarnation of the Internet. It was written to show you how to make the Internet fun and useful again.

Customer reviews Ok for Beginners by .. Tracy L. Needham (Raleigh, NC) I actually returned this book, which I don't do often. I was hoping it would be more like Office 2003 Timesaving Techniques for Dummies, which doesn't seem to have a 2007 version yet, but was very basic. And it doesn't address Business Contact Manager at All.
Granted, it's trying to cover a lot of ground in one book. But if you're pretty proficient with Office programs, you may not learn much. It would have been more useful if it at least had a section that discusses all the changes between the 2 versions.
Office 2007 8 in 1 by .. Christopher K. Boggs (Texas) As all the Dummy books it is well written, supplies a large amount of infromation in a simple no nonsense form.
office 2007 for dummies by .. Cheryl Ingram (LA) The product has very basic information. I purchased the book to find out how to do many things within Office Outlook and the information was simply not there. I was looking to learn how to manage and update my "Archive Folder" it didn't have the information available. Disappointing based upon the cost.
Office 2007 All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies by .. Dennis Mcfarland (Winslow, AZ United States) AWESOME BOOK I couldn't have found a better one. Easy to read and great instructions.
Dennis aka drdenny
Excellent Beginner Book by .. A. Decker (Vancouver, Washington United States) Readable, useful, humorous. I knew Word and Excel 2003 and needed to upgrade those to 2007 and learn Access and Outlook from start. This book would get you from no knowledge to being able to use the four programs I read about. It doesn't cover advanced topics - how to duplicate Access entries and make changes in the duplicate, for example - but you'll be ready to understand a more advanced guide.
