Great for information, a bit inflated on the prices!
This book is great for identifying certain pieces, but the prices aren't always set in reality. If you want to sell your collection and you're looking for real numbers, do some completed auction research on ebay or google the folks at vintagerarestuff. But for identifying, it is really nice :-)

I been getting these guides for the past 20 years. There a good basic guide when you need them. I prefer actual sales information to get a value for something. The only thing, I don't like about them are that they don't have photo for most of the items they list. Sure they put some pictures in the book. But an item without a picture, is only a guess what you think it is.

This is without a doubt one of the best books I've ever purchased. Not only is the subject covered in great detail, but the best kept 'secret' of this book is that the first 71 pages is a wonderful guide to digital cameras & digital photography in general. I'm sure I will be referring to this book often as I photograph jewelry & collectibles and so should you. Now stop reading this and go buy it already!

I am a collector of WW11 items and this has come in very handy for Identifing items, when the tags have been removed from items, A lot of history of the item and would recommend this book to others. There are better books out there but this one is very usful for the novice.

Being a intermediate collector, I thought this book was great for identifying and giving a good price guide for a great deal of WWII collectibles. Advanced collectors probably would not appreciate the overview of many subjects, but this book plainly states it is not specific in all areas. I would definetly take this to shows for ID help for sure! Great buy!

I did not intend to write this review today because I just obtained the book today. I found it by chance at a book store and since I am a specialist in World War II numismatics (coins and especially paper money and more), I bought it. When I got home, I found that there were no reader reviews here so I thought that I shold put in at least and short/temporary one.
There is nothing on numismatics in the book which you might think would turn me off, but I did not really expect to find much if anything on numismatics. This or any book can only be an introduction to WWII items. Heck, our own book on just the numismatics of the war is over 800 pages. So far I have found the text satisfying if brief. Graf lists many hundreds of items in several chapters. The illustrations are excellent. I learned a lot and expect to learn much more. I will try to write a more detailed review later.

Somewhat disappointed in this book because 99% of what's in it is the "cereal box" genre items rather than the high quality props and memorabilia. Info is very limited on the items with little or no background data. No Master Replica items in this book either which makes it really incomplete for a decent collector. I got it for about $11 so it's not too bad but I would not have paid the full $25 for it. Still keeping an eye out for a real complete collectors book.

I have been collecting Star Trek items since I was a child and this is by far the best book on the subject of Star Trek collectibles. The book is organized very well and has some of the best photographs of hard to find Star Trek items that I have even seen. All I can say is EXCELLENT! Loved the book. I wish a book like this was around years ago. After reading, I am inclined to improve my collection by searching for items that I never knew existed. Great job!!

I've rated this book good, but I've got mixed feelings about it. On one hand it's wonderful! Lots of good info and interesting items featured. It really is a fun read with lots of cool items photographed. But my main concern is the execution of the book. The lighting on many of the photos is very poor for example. They look like they were taken with nothing but regular room lighting, not special lighting I would assume a professional photog would use. So, I'm sort of split down the middle. But I would definately say I'm glad I bought it, even with the split decision!

I purchased this because the 2008 version had great reviews compared to other antique guides. One of the strengths was they had more pictures than their competitors. Well, it does have lots of pictures. But there are so few items listed for each section that it is of little use, unless they happen to have a picture of something you are looking for. They do cover the marks to look for in each section.
Some sections are much bigger than others. For example, bottles are covered well with lots of pictures of different types. I can see now that the long lists in Kovels are more useful if you know what you have. For instance Hopalong Cassidy items would have more listings in Kovels than in Traders.
So, if you want to see lots of pictures to browse and help with identification of what to look for in more detailed books, then this is a good book for that. The pictures are in color and well done.

For information on a wide variety of antiques or collectibles, it's almost as good as Warman's. But, really, I like having both books available for use. I've found, however, that if I know what I'm interested in, I'm better off spending the money and getting a book specific to that antique or collectible (if there's one available.) Nevertheless, a good reference book to get someone started in collecting. Prices listed vary greatly from what one finds on internet market; you need to be aware of this with some antiques or collectibles.

The Kovel's book is by far the most detailed, entertaining and informative price book I have ever owned. It helps us sellers and buyers and on line shoppers understand real-time market values. I like that it is based on ACTUAL prices. ( after all things are really only worth what someone will pay). It helped me identify things that I was unsure of with some really clear four-color photographs.
The book is packed with TONS of pictures! It also is easy to find things and the Kovel's seem to have a knack to know how to organize such a large group of potential categories. Overall, this book was worth every penny in terms of showing me what things are worth and what they are. No other place I have found that can do both so well.

After six long years, Allan Petretti has come out with his 12th Ed. of what has become the "Bible of coca-Cola" and sets the gold standard by which all other Coke books are judged. While the wait for the new edition seemed excruciating, the latest edition was well worth the wait. The new edition provides a significant upgrade over previous editions. The tremendous amount of color photos sets this book apart from previous editions and is far more visually pleasing for the reader. The commentary is extremely helpful for both novice and experienced collectors. Also, the pricing of the collectibles reflects the softness of the market which has occured in most types of Coke collectibles since Petretti's previous edition. Finally, the layout of the book represents a significant improvement over prior editions. The only negative is that the publisher needs to take the time to develop a more logical and detailed index. However, whether you are just beginning to collect or have collected Coke for 35 years, this book is an indispensible addition to your library. My congratulations to Mr. Petretti for a fine piece of work.

This is the fifth Petretti's Coca-Cola Collectibles Price Guide I have owned, and like a fine wine, it just gets better and better. If you are a collector or just interested in learning more about the company and its heritage, this is a must have for your library.
The typography from previous editions has been upgraded, making it easier to digest the mountain of information it offers. Additional color has been incorporated into the 12th Edition providing a more modernized, and visually pleasing, appearance to the book.
Perhaps the most useful improvements are the edge tabs to make locating calendars, trays, signs, toys & games, bottles, paper, and miscellaneous items much quicker and less cumbersome. In past editions, I have spent a couple days doing this myself, but there is no need to this time around.
There have been numerous price guides published, but make no mistake about it, this IS the book Coca-Cola collectors and dealers go by. It is "The Bible" for those to take this hobby seriously. It is also a book you simply can not live without.
If you are just starting out or are a long time collector, I recommend it totally!

This newest 12th edition book is the cream of the crop. I have been collecting Soda Advertising for over 25 years. Each volume of Allan Petrettis book expands the knowledge base of the hobby.
This newest edition is a vast improvement over previous editions (no small feat),containing mostly color photos with very few black and white, many new items, improved organization and color coding on the page ends. The prices are not absolutes, but give an idea of scarcity and demand. If you want the very best and most accurate Coca Cola reference material-This is it!

I like the fact that the book shows so many color pictures. That is great! Unfortunately, as, with many of these types of books, it doesn't list many of the collectible coca cola items. The book could also be organised better. There are several different places to find clocks for example. If you go by the table of contents you might miss what you are looking for. When you go by the index you have to sift through different sections of the book looking for it. However, the back of the book was very helpful with the section on slogans for different years. It is a good book, but I wish it listed more of the collectibles or at least mentioned them. Still, I recently ordered a few other books on coke collectibles and this one seems to have more info than they did.

I have owned most editions of this book, and as a resource for researching Coca Cola memorabilia, I would have to say it is unsurpassed. I haven't seen any other guides come close in the number of items shown. I do question the pricing of these items, however. I don't see how everything can continually increase in price from one edition to another, especially when you consider internet sales activity (a very large part of Coca Cola memorabilia sales nowadays). As a collector, I never pay at price-levels shown in this edition, and I certainly do not obtain these prices when I occasionally sell an item off on an internet auction site. I just feel that the prices are a bit inflated. No one could keep track of the huge amounts of Coca Cola memorabilia sales in all venues around the country. I tend to take pricing in guidebooks with a grain of salt, especially, as in this case, when the author is also a major collector. Just a little too much potential for conflict of interest.

It seldom happens that a product is even better than what one would expect but these lovely tea calendars are just such a product. They are beautifully designed, gorgeously photographed and user friendly. The date boxes are a good size for those who make good use of their calendars for scheduling while the photographs are exquisite and draw one in for a closer look. For history buffs there is information on the origins of each month's unique teapot and in style they range from the formal to the quirky. I have had many positive comments on my teapot calendars over the last few years and this year have given three of the 2009 version to friends for Christmas gifts.

The Teapot and Tea Calendar for 2009 by Joni Miller with photographs by Martin Brigdale is beautifully done. Each month is graced with a photograph of a table setting of a teapot and savories that is delightful to the eye. In addition there are individual postcards for each month that I enjoy sending to friends throughout the year.
Each picture each month is described in detail to the origin and date of each of the teapots and a caption of information on the art of tea throughout the years. I have purchased many Teapot and Tea Calendars for the last few years as gifts and my friends have saved each of their calendars at the end of the year. A wonderful treat to myself and friends.
