A bunch of bros by .. Hostess with the Mostest (New York, NY) I bought this book along with Brocabulary for my semi-retarded (in a good way) younger brother. Weirdly, I ended up reading both of them. Mostly because I'm a fan of How I Met Your Mother, but I was surprised that Brocab made me laugh out loud. And if my real bro thinks like these bros, he's even more retarded than I thought.

There are even built-in cheat days, so you can enjoy the foods you love. Once you get your eating habits on schedule, you'll find that you can lose weight . . . for good. . . In just eight short weeks, you'll be able to: . - REPROGRAM YOUR BODY--to burn the fat and keep it off.

Customer reviews weight loss program by .. 3bensmom (iowa) this is an excellent guide for weight loss - my daughter and I lost 10 lbs within the 1st 2 weeks - it is an easy guide to follow; however you have to make a committment to change the way you eat
Find Your Own Evidence--CSI-Styled--For Shedding Fat! by .. Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Man (Spartanburg, SC) If people would approach their weight loss like Gil Grissom on an episode of CSI, then perhaps they'd be a lot more successful at shaking the weight than they are. Finding the clues that lead to fat loss, applying those facts, and continually following the evidence can insure nothing but the best results humanly possible. That's what author Wendy Chant has set out to do with this book.
Through voracious scientific research, she has examined what it takes to burn fat and has developed a tested "code" for making it happen no matter who you are. Interestingly, the primary fuel source for energy that also brings about fat-burning is not carbohydrate--it's fat! Chant is a big fan of what's known as carb-cycling and suggests a series of four specific plans tailored to your particular goal. It's an intensive eight-week program that then transforms into your permanent lifestyle choice.
The best part about this new diet book is how encouraging Chant is throughout. She says to put away the negative thoughts about how you look and feel and just enjoy the life and the body you've been given. The changes that need to happen will happen if you commit to working the plan as best as you can. With special guidance all along the way and even some great recipes to make it work for you, this may be the clue you need that will unlock your own fat-loss code!
Perfect way of eating by .. Love to Learn (Ovid, MI United States) The only reason I didn't give this book five stars is because the editing could have been better...but the content as a whole is amazing. I'm on the end of my sixth week following this plan and am no longer a slave to the scale, no longer controlled by food. I lost 80 pounds following very low carb, very low calorie diet....had some health issues from the calories being so low and then spent a year gaining and losing the same 10 pounds...I would do low carb, then binge on carbs, and repeated that cycle for a year. When I read an article about this, I bought the book the next day and am so happy I did. The plan works and it's one you can eat on the rest of your life....various stages to lose weight and then a maintenance guide...nothing crazy about it and it incorporates exercise. I highly recommend this book.

Crack the Fat-Loss Code by .. Diane B. Harrish (Sarasota, Fl.) Have been on this program starting week 3 and lost 11 lbs. Amazing how good green beans taste now and not even hungry having to force myself to eat. At first the diet was a little confusing because I did not want to read the information and than went back and read it. This is an eating program that will be my new life change because I am not depriving myself of anything. Have never felt better. Thanks to Wendy for this great life change.

Product Description An ingenious code hidden in the works of Leonardo da Vinci.A desperate race through the cathedrals and castles of Europe. An astonishing truth concealed for centuries . . . unveiled at last.As millions of readers around the globe have already discovered, The Da Vinci Code is a reading experience unlike any other. Simultaneously lightning-paced, intelligent, and intricately layered with remarkable research and detail, Dan Brown's novel is a thrilling masterpiece—from its opening pages to its stunning conclusion. Customer reviews Selling Jesus All Over Again by .. Timothy Abraham () It is no secret that I am deeply charmed and swept off my feet by atheists who make the engine of my mind work and work; they make me feel alive. What Dan Brown does on the other hand is spreading around historical fallacies and lies. Even as fiction, his work at best is nothing but literary parasitism. It is now a fashionable trend in the world of literary market to see actual parasites who can't stand on their own intellectual merit but take advantage of the vast resonance associated with the name of Jesus and what he represents in order to secure profit at a very low effort. This is nothing but literary parasitism.
Regarding the book itself, I observe:
1. The writing style is torturous.
2. As far as history, it is terribly inaccurate. If you choose to read it, read Bart Ehrman's book on it to get your history info there set straighted. He was so misleading. He gave the impression that his research on history is accurate while it was full of horrible mistakes. But Americans generally like any type of book that has words such as "codes", "problems and secret hidden info about Jesus", etc. People cannot be happy except with the suspense and thriller. There is a lot of talk about the betrayal of Judas, and the people are not aware that it is happening again. Christ is being sold again, not to the leaders of the Sanhedrin for thirty pieces of silver but to editors and booksellers of millions of dollars. . .
Calm down people! by .. Kalif Vaughn () I haven't read this book in a long time, but I feel obligated to write a review due to the vast amount of controversy over it.
First, let me just tell you my impressions of the book. I found it riveting to read. It is definitely a page-turner which keeps you hooked until the very end. The chapters are short and there are lots of flashbacks interspersed throughout the book. Everything is a puzzle and Brown gives you all sorts of clues, but somehow the answer is always just out of reach. The book has a great amount of suspense and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a terrific thriller / mystery.
For some reason, the book being a riveting page-turner is not enough for some people. Even though this book is clearly a work of fiction, we have all sorts of religious zealots and determined critics who must chime in with their two cents worth. The bible thumpers will say all sorts of hocus pocus related to the book and its content. Critics determined to show you how smart they are will denounce the book and say its full of historical inaccuracies.
I'm not sure why people are going so crazy over this book. Let me spell it out for everybody: This book is a work of FICTION. Period. Works of fiction are meant to entertain the masses. If you are interested in historical facts pertaining to religion, read a different book. If you want a book that will enthrall you until the very end, look no further.
It's FICTION, kids. by .. Jennifer L. Tilden (Ferizaj, Kosovë) Everyone on the planet has felt the need to weigh in on this book, decrying it as blasphemy, screaming about whether or not the Knights Templars and the Priory were real, or, further, whether they had anything to do with the Sange Real or the Mergovian line, whether Christ died for our sins, whether He lived at all, etc.
First, this is a work of fiction. People became so angered about the alleged premise here that they seem to have forgotten that Dan Brown wrote this book as fiction and sold it as such. Books like Michael Piaget Holy Blood Holy Grail cover whether or not any of this is real. But even accepting that Brown never made any representation and people take things like this way too seriously, this book got too much press. This is not a bad book. It's well-enough written, and relatively fast-paced. But it's not a GREAT book, and not even the best of Brown's "heretical" novels (an honour I would reserve for Angels and Demons.) If this book had been about anything in the world other than suggesting that Christ had a child, it would have been on the bargain rack in most airports behind the unsold John Grishams within a week.
Remember, kiddies: Just because it's controversial does NOT mean it's great literature. (For further lessons on the medicocre-book-propelled-to-international-stardom-by-religion, please see The Satanic Verses) [close]
Women beyond belief by .. T. Harris () As a mystery, well, there are better. In the competition for plot twists, historical fiction, art, or cryptography, there's better out there than the Da Vinci Code. But it is a page-turner, and with that excitement succeeds in dramatically raising curiosity about two major questions: (1) what is belief and how does it affect history? and (2) is the image of women in religion timeless, or was it consciously manufactured at certain key periods in history?
One need not be religious in order to care about the first question. And one need not be a radical feminist to consider the second. After all, some basic facts of male-female relations are still with us no matter how modern we get: men rule the world, and declare the wars. Only women bear children, including the boys who will be men. And women are not some obscure minority, but 50% of the human experience.
So if a thriller sprinkled with (partially accurate) historical references is what it takes to get people to examine their beliefs, research history, and apply the results to improving life for the men, women, and children around them, that will be a respectable achievement for this work of popular literature.
A Blessing in Disguise? by .. Jacob Schriftman () I have to admit: I actually enjoyed reading the book. And I'm saying this as someone who also has a taste for Kafka, Tolstoy, and a range of other authors that are generally said to have produced real "literature."
Was there a difference between those authors and Brown? Definitely. The DaVinci Code read more like a movie. But then again, I like movies too, and all the more so when I'm more involved in it by imagining the scenes and keep turning the pages. It was a fun ride. I certainly had a few entertaining hours.
I could therefore give the book four or even five stars because, well, Brown achieved what he set out to do: to deliver a page turner driven by visual descriptions and fast plot twists. One should never judge a thing by what it was never meant to do. I wouldn't write a bad review on a printer because it fails to work as a lawn mower, and likewise I wouldn't give a bad rating to an entertaining page turner for not meeting my high literary standards.
Nevertheless, I think it's generous to give the book three stars, because Brown himself presents his book as something serious, and that is just pretentious. I'm talking, of course, about that introductory page headlined with the word "FACT" and ending with the sentence, "All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in this novel are accurate."
This sentence turns the book into a joke that - as is said of German jokes - is no laughing matter. For, as is well known by now, Brown did not only get a few minor details wrong (though he did, too), but put huge boulders of blatant misinformation in the book.
Many books have been written to set the facts straight. One with probably the least bias is Truth and Fiction in The Da Vinci Code: A Historian Reveals What We Really Know about Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and Constantine by historian Bart Ehrman.
Who knows? Maybe people who were previously unfamiliar with the early centuries of the Christian church are led - via the detour of Brown - to look at the topic on a more factual basis. So the book might turn out, in addition to its entertainment value, to be a blessing after all. Albeit in disguise.

Product Description Even bad code can function. But if code isn’t clean, it can bring a development organization to its knees. Every year, countless hours and significant resources are lost because of poorly written code. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Noted software expert Robert C. Martin presents a revolutionary paradigm with Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship. Martin has teamed up with his colleagues from Object Mentor to distill their best agile practice of cleaning code “on the fly” into a book that will instill within you the values of a software craftsman and make you a better programmer—but only if you work at it. What kind of work will you be doing? You’ll be reading code—lots of code. And you will be challenged to think about what’s right about that code, and what’s wrong with it. More importantly, you will be challenged to reassess your professional values and your commitment to your craft. Clean Code is divided into three parts. The first describes the principles, patterns, and practices of writing clean code. The second part consists of several case studies of increasing complexity. Each case study is an exercise in cleaning up code—of transforming a code base that has some problems into one that is sound and efficient. The third part is the payoff: a single chapter containing a list of heuristics and “smells” gathered while creating the case studies. The result is a knowledge base that describes the way we think when we write, read, and clean code. Readers will come away from this book understanding - How to tell the difference between good and bad code
- How to write good code and how to transform bad code into good code
- How to create good names, good functions, good objects, and good classes
- How to format code for maximum readability
- How to implement complete error handling without obscuring code logic
- How to unit test and practice test-driven development
This book is a must for any developer, software engineer, project manager, team lead, or systems analyst with an interest in producing better code. Customer reviews Software Engineering is a Craft! Thank you! by .. Constantine (Boston, USA) Before I even read the book, I liked the fact that the title contained the words "software" and "craftsmanship" next to each other! This alone is a good reason for many programmers to keep this book where they can see it - every day. The book is well structured, it is well and thoughtfully written - something you would expect from a book of this kind. I am happy to see a book that - in clear and simple terms - promotes what the great Edsger Dijkstra (considered the Father of the Computing Science by many) had been advocating all his life: elegance, simplicity, and intellectual manageability of software. There have been many articles popping up here and there, addressing various aspects of coding standards and general quality of code. Such articles usually would result in heated discussions, mostly fueled by personal preferences, pride, unwillingness of some people to admit that they hadn't been doing things right always... A book like this was needed..
It's good to see a serious book from a serious author who, for example, finally is not afraid to state: "Use unchecked exceptions. The debate is over". This is music to my ears. Surprisingly, however, the author uses checked exceptions in many of his examples! That seems like a really strange oversight. Any plans to fix that in the 2nd edition, Robert? Also, I think the author only scratches the surface explaining why checked exceptions are "not necessary". What is missing is the explanation why checked exceptions are not safe, in the first place. Most of us know that they result in bad and convoluted code. The bigger problem, however, is that they usually result in incorrect error handling in general. And there is quite a bit of confusion and misunderstanding when it comes to error handling among Java programmers - to this day. So, I am afraid, this particularly important advice from the book will be ignored by many programmers raised on checked exceptions - simply due to the lack of clear explanation and the confusing code examples that use checked exceptions.
While I think it is a very good book, I generally agree with one of the earlier reviewers that some topics are covered without the depth necessary to fully illustrate the practice or issue in question.
As one would reasonably expect, some recommendations may have to be taken with a grain of salt. For example, should we really never use HTML in javadocs? Most of us use IDEs that have excellent support for javadoc viewing via key-shortcuts - by simply pointing to the class or method's name anywhere in the code. I never pull up the method's source to read the in-line Javadoc for it as is. I place the cursor on the method name right where the method is referenced, and do Ctrl-Q in IntelliJ. The nicely formatted Javadoc appears in a pop-up window, so I actually like taking full advantage of any HTML formatting. Eclipse or NetBeans users use similar ways. So, I'd say, use common sense, and make sure the comments are informative, and neat. Which is pretty much what the book says anyway.
By the way, speaking of comments, most code examples in the book contain none of those at all! How come? Another strange oversight... I certainly understand that the author assumes that there is no need for javadocs and comments in the sample code since he explains everything in the text of the chapter. However, consistency is another important rule that the author advocates, and I would prefer to see the sample code follow all the same rules the author is promoting in his book.
One of my favorite parts of the book is Chapter 17 - "Smells and Heuristics". This is a great reference guide for any beginner or anyone who only now starts to show interest in writing quality code. Fortunately, most common IDEs today can be configured to inspect your code and look for each of the anomalies listed in that chapter. Turn those inspections on and never ignore them!
The bottom line is that Software Engineering is a CRAFT, indeed. At the end of the day, a programmer should be able to look at his/her work and be proud of it. Those who don't care should probably find a different occupation. For everyone else, this book is a must-read.
(Disclaimer: This review is based on the electronic copy of the book; the hard copy is still on its way from amazon.com at the time of this writing.)
Excellent book by .. Tormod Øverlier (Norway) Robert C. Martin is one of the most experienced developers in the world and tries to share his wisdom with the reader, and he does so in a very clear and well articulated way. He says clearly that the book is not THE answer, but rather a summary of his own opinions.
The book focuses on making easily maintainable code.
Clean Code Belongs on Every Coder's Shelf by .. S. Robillard (East Haven, CT USA) Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship (Robert C. Martin Series)
First Impressions
I began reading this book with a couple of concerns. First, all the code examples were written in Java, and I haven't written much Java in the last couple of years. Secondly, the books seventeen chapters were written by seven different authors. In my experience, most books with this many authors are at best a collection of uneven chapters, or even worse a morass of redundancy and contradictions. In the end, neither of these concerns proved to be a problem. Instead they demonstrated the authors' point - that clean code is readable code.
The book's main premise is that clean code results from paying attention to the small details (details that are often overlooked in an effort to meet a deadline, or simply get the code working). This overriding theme allows for a seamless blending of each author's contribution into a cohesive readable whole. Where contradictions did occur, the authors not only acknowledged them, but successfully argued that they resulted not from conflicting ideas or approaches, but from differences in priority. Even the high quality of the editing, and typesetting silently reinforce this attention to detail and professionalism. Most computer books have several technical, typographical and grammatical errors in every chapter. I found only a single one in this book (several hundred pages in). This attention to detail silent reinforces the lessons presented in this book.
What's Inside
The book is divided into three parts. Part I (chapters 1-13) demonstrate what makes up clean code, what it looks like, and how to begin creating it (by picking better names, properly using comments, properly structuring your code etc.). By organizing this section into a series of small chapters the reader is able to begin applying these lessons from day one.
Part II (chapters 14-16) contains a series of case studies demonstrating how to apply the rules and guidelines from part I. These case studies show that like refactoring, cleaning code is an iterative process. One that should be undertaken at every opportunity, because all code no matter how good can be improved.
Part III (chapter 17) is a knowledge base. This section documents the rationale behind every change made to the code in the case studies. This final chapter shows that clean code requires both the ability to make the changes, and to know why they were needed.
Final Impression
No book alone can make you a better programmer, anymore than a screwdriver can make you a better carpenter. However, if you have the discipline to go beyond simply getting your code to work, and begin writing clean code, then this book can help you to become a better more professional programmer. If correctly applied over time, it can even serve as a bulwark against an increasingly fragile code base comprised of hacks, kludges and quick fixes. This book not only taught me how to improve my code, but demonstrated that its principals are both timeless, and language agnostic. I would recommend this book to anyone who writes code.

one disagreement - "delete commented out code" ?! by .. W Boudville (Terra, Sol 3) The book contains much useful advice for professional programmers. A bunch of software authors have contributed the book's chapters.
There is one place where I disagree. Where it talks about having commented out code in your source code file. Yes, this often leads to obsolete code, even as commented out code, precisely because as you change various things like variables in the active code, this has no effect on the commented out portions. The book recommends that you simply delete the latter, since you can always retrieve it later via your version control system, which you should certainly be using anyway.
But the book's reasoning is flawed. Simply having the commented out code stored in the version control system is of little use. Out of sight, out of mind. How many programmers are actually going to troll thru previous versions of the file looking for that particular code? For one thing, they have to somehow know or suspect that it might exist. If the programmer currently working on the file is not the author of the commented out code, then there is little likelihood that she will even be aware of this. But even if she was the author of the original code, what if she forgets?
The book's recommendation is an idealisation. The pragmatic reality is that you should, sparingly, keep commented out code in your source files, precisely because it is there in front of you, retaining mindshare, whenever you edit the file. I say sparingly, because you should only do this for crucial code blocks. How to determine this? Well, that is part of your expert knowledge.
Demanding and useful by .. Aaron Lile (Portland OR USA) I am a front end web developer with a couple years experience and I purchased this book to get a better idea of how to generate more readable and understandable code. And this book satisfied that need. If you are a very novice coder, that is to say that you do not yet know your syntax and are unfamiliar with OOP, you will want to wait to pick up this book. Not that all of the examples and discussion are super technical, just that are many assumptions and no explanations of these subjects.
One of the nice things about this book is its tone - it stays reasonably lighthearted, with a number of naive illustrations to maintain this feel. Nonetheless, it is abundantly clear that the author is fully versed and a master of code, ensuring that all the discussion is well considered and presented.
I do find that the author seems to go a little far in defining his ideal, tho perhaps that is the purpose of an ideal - to guide one's daily path and provide some information as you build out your projects.

good book by .. M. Tilelli (Utah, USA) I bought this because it was highly recommended as a must have for the software engineer. I browsed through it and I'm not sorry I bought it. It has some good stuff.
Best of the Best by .. Lisa Yung (Washington) Besides agreeing with the other reviews all I can say is that this text has made me a better programmer. Truly.
An Important Read by .. Max Lynch (Wisconsin) Though this book is filled with debatable opinion and redundant information, it's an important read. Read it if only to keep software engineering topics fresh in your head. Otherwise, if you are already experienced, it's kind of elementary.
Invaluable, Well Presented Information by .. Chris Crowe (Brea, CA USA) There is probably not a whole lot to say about this book that has not been said already, but it certainly deserves another positive review nonetheless.
I bought this book thinking that I did not have a whole lot to learn from it. I was certain I had read enough 'better coding' material in the past to know what good code was and how to produce it. I am sure you will not be surprised when I say that I ended up having a great deal to learn from this book.
Almost all of the coding advice, design strategies, and debugging techniques are backed up with real research data. At the very least, this means that even if you know the advice is sound already, you can more easily introduce the topic to other programmers, or even to management, and it has a greater chance of being taken in to consideration.
After reading this book, my code quality has definitely increased. I discovered that even the good practices I knew of before were not being put to effective use.
The book is very specific. It does not typically give you vague advice that sounds good if you don't think too hard about it. It gives you very specific, concrete advice, with examples and data to back it up.
The author seems to have put a great deal of effort into writing this book for every type of programmer (and even for people in software management positions). Every chapter introduction describes who should definitely read the chapter and who might benefit from simply skimming it over. He will also direct the reader to other chapters or specific sections of the current chapter based on the reader's knowledge and experience levels.
Finally, as others have said, I consider this a must read book for any programmer.

In a few minutes of flipping through the pages right after I received it I was able to clearly understand issues that I previously had to read over and over again in the code to try to understand. Any time I have a code issue now I first read the code and then look at the same item in this book to see if my interpretation is correct.
A bit basic for the professional, perhaps valuable for a student. by .. Chris Salay (los angeles, ca) Ching always does a good job of clearly illustrating aspects of design and construction, but in this case the book lacks depth. Only the most basic codes are included and it is of little or no help for the building professional.

Author : Dr. Taylor Hartman Edition : Rev Upd Number of Pages : 336 Publisher : Scribner List Price : $16.00 Amazon Price : $4.79 Used Price : $4.59 |
Product Description In his life-changing book, Dr. Taylor Hartman introduces you to the People Code and why people do what they do. The concept of Motive is a fresh method for analyzing your own innate personality as well as that of those around you. You then have the ability to utilize that knowledge to improve workplace and personal relationships. As an author, psychologist, and leadership coach, Dr. Hartman offers a remarkably astute system for segmenting everyone into specific Motive-types denoted by a color: Red (power wielders), Blue (do-gooders), White (peacekeepers), and Yellow (fun lovers). He then explains how to ensure that all possible alliances between them function at optimum effectiveness. If you struggle with self-acceptance and have questions about why you and others act the way you do, Dr. Hartman and The People Code can help you maximize your life success by improving your day-to-day relationships. Customer reviews Addicting by .. Emily J. Taylor (Utah) This book helped me realize that I was a Core White with a secondary Blue. That's just exciting.
Now for the real review: I happen to find Hartman's system brilliant. He leaves plenty of room for individuality, but has still managed to find specific characteristics that dominate society and group them into four basic patterns. He also takes care to explain his theory and why it works in real life. With that are plenty of anctedotes of patients with whom he has worked, all that human intereraction to solidify these personalities.
The quiz is easy, but complex and varying, managing to cover many parts of a person. After that are the descriptions of each color, both positive and negative. After that he expands into relationships, work, personal improvement, you name it--the goal of making our individual personalities work. It's all very practical for understanding ourselves and how we work with others.
It's informative, insightful, and just plain fun. Most of all, it's very logical.
This book literally changed my life! by .. Debbie (Ogden, Utah USA) I am a Registered Nurse and I was working at a hospital as a "quality assurance utilization manager" when a co-worker gave me this book. I was in the 13th year of my career and had always received great annual reviews from supervisors regarding the quality of my work. After working in this new administrative job for a year I got one of the lowest evaluations of my entire working life - after I had put more time, energy and passion into this new job than I had in any of my previous positions!
After I read this excellent book (back in 1991) I immediately understood the problem: My boss was a "Red" and "Yellow" personality, driven by power and craving focused attention. My personality is "White" and "Blue" so I seek peace and intimacy. Trust me - it was not a good fit! Thankfully I was able to quit my job and become a full-time parent to my two sweet children.
Fast forward seventeen years.....
My children are now 21 and 22 years old and attending college. They have been raised on the "Color Code" concepts and it has dramatically improved the quality of their interactions with family, friends, teachers and other acquaintances. My daughter has an intense "blue & yellow" personality (like my husband) and my son is "white and yellow" - which must be the most laid back personality on the planet! I am not exaggerating when I say that I use the concepts in this book every single day.
Thank you Taylor Hartman for your most excellent book!
Life changing book by .. Marla (CA USA) I am amazed by this book. As I read the chapter on my personality color, I couldn't believe that the author had me figured out down to the very nuances of my behavior. This book has helped me view others with more understanding and forgiveness. You will never look at people the same way again. Every person I know who has read this book can't stop talking about it. It goes down as one of my favorite books ever. Your relationships will improve as a result. This book is a must read for all and a perfect wedding gift.
THE COLOR CRAP by .. Bookreader (Rexburg ID) The color code is not founded on anything but theory. No tests, no experiments, no psychological research other than Dr. Hartman's personal observations. The information in this book is useless and repetitive. You will be confined to a core motive, and will be stuck with all the flaws and strengths of that color. The book mentions but does not explain how different core motives make a person, and how to overcome personality flaws. Go ask any psychologist and you will find out The Color Code is really Color Crap.
The most insightful book ever!!! by .. Wendy James (Texas) This book really helped to open my eyes. I understand why people do the things that they do. it helped me to understand myself and why I feel the way that I do sometimes. I have a whole new "people" outlook!

Peter H. Taylor (Dallas, Tx) This is a must have for anyone in the electrical field. My continuing complaint with the N.E.C. is that is seems like it is written by lawyers, instead of electricians. You need to take a course to understand how to retreive the information you are looking for. Without that it's time consuming and incomplete.
FLAT is better by .. T. Davis (Pacific Northwest USA) The NEC has gotten so large, that the ability to lay it flat while researching is really nice.
2008 NEC Code book Review by .. Sporte1111 (Olympia WA. USA) This book is essential to install electrical installations. It basically was created by the National Fire Protection Agency it explains how to install electrical systems so that you do not burn down the house or building down that you wire. It does not teach you how to be an electrician, but it does give you the basic guidelines legal guidelines as to how to install electrical systems. Sporte1111
What I needed, Price I wanted. by .. David K. Jacobs (Talala, OK USA) I needed this book for my required continuing education units to renew my license in the state of Oklahoma. The price was right, and if I had thought about it sooner (ha, ha) I would not have needed second day shipping and saved even more. Great product, great price.
Ordered Paperback got Looseleaf - Then Review Deleted by .. M. Morgan (Gresham, Oregon, United States) When I ordered paperback (bound as from publisher) and the book arrived looseleaf punched for a 3-ring binder, we didn't know until we opened it. I posted a review here to save others from the same problem but don't see it anymore. I know that Amazon will get a handle on all the different formats this book come in, and when tabs can be used. The info is available on the NFPA website so it should be easy.
I gave the 3-ring binder version to a buddy so now I want to buy AND RECEIVE the bound conventional paperback version but I can't get an answer from Amazon if the problem is corrected. I don't want to order again and get another looseleaf copy.

Everything you need to build a garage (or house)! by .. Forrest Frantz (Parkdale, OR) If you are acting as a contractor on your home or garage project, then this book is invaluable to make sure that the subs are building to code or making sure that you are building to code. As an retired contractor and engineer, I've come to realize over time that codes actually do have a purpose in life besides making the building process a pain. The old farm house I bought probably wasn't built to code and it shows. A lot of farmers around here have to get up on their out-building and shovel snow because every year one or two more of their buildings collapse.
The book is well organize by project phase so things are easy to find--cement pad, walls, floors, roof, etc.
Can a residential Architect live without this book? by .. M. Morris (Arlington, VA) This Christmas we gave this book to our son, at his suggestion. Product Description In The Emotion Code, renowned holistic physician and lecturer Dr. Bradley Nelson skillfully lays bare the inner workings of the subconscious mind. He reveals how emotionally-charged events from your past can still be haunting you in the form of "trapped emotions"; emotional energies that literally inhabit your body. Dr. Nelson explains clearly and concisely how trapped emotions can create pain, malfunction and eventual disease. In addition, trapped emotions can exert a dramatic effect on how you think, the choices that you make, and how successful you will be. Perhaps the most important discovery that Dr. Nelson has made is that trapped emotional energies will often gather around the heart, creating a "Heart-Wall" that may block you from giving and receiving love freely. The Emotion Code is a powerful and simple way to rid yourself of unseen baggage. Releasing trapped emotions often results in the sudden disappearance of physical problems, self-sabotage, and recurring relationship difficulties. Filled with real-world examples from many years of clinical practice, The Emotion Code is a distinct and authoritative new work that is destined to become an instant classic on self-healing. Customer reviews The Emotion Code by .. patricia (Cokato, MN) The Emotion Code
As a chemical dependency counselor, this book is fascinating. I'm looking forward to learning the techniques for releasing trapped emotions as described in the book.
The Emotion Code by .. T. W. Leaming () I enjoyed the book very much. Learned lots. Have become involved in doing to Emotional Code. Very helpful. The free session was very helpful in understanding the procedure.
This book has the power to change everything! by .. Travis Sudweeks (Orange County) There is actually a book out there that will, quite possibly, save your life! It's called The Emotion Code and it's author is Dr. Bradley Nelson.
There have been few books that have left me with a feeling that there is so much more to this life than what meets the eye. In fact, I don't think I have been this excited about a book in years. That is why I felt it appropriate to put a book review on an indie music review site. After all, this book is about as indie as you can get.
Within the pages of The Emotion Code Dr. Nelson explains the inner workings of the subconscious mind and lays it bare for all to see. He writes simply so you, the readers, are not left scratching your heads in complete bewilderment. This book makes so much sense that it's scary. Why do we have phobias? Why does it seem certain people can't seem to loose weight? Why can't some people seem to ever find someone to love? Why are some people always sick and the doctors can never find the answers? The answers are all within The Emotion Code.
Dr. Nelson also teaches his readers and patients how to become healers themselves by releasing what are called Trapped Emotions - trapped emotions boil down to an emotional event in our lives that becomes trapped within our energy field/body - yes, we are all made of energy and all energy vibrates at different frequencies. We all send out our own unique frequencies. Have you ever felt like someone was staring at the back of your head so you turn around and someone is staring right at you? Yup, that's what I'm talking about. Well a small part of it anyway. Actually, everything that you can and can't see on this earth is made of energy. Sometimes our trapped emotions get caught in the energy field of our body and can have any number of effects on us. But don't worry, we can all learn how to release them through a technique called muscle testing, which has been around for a while now, but Dr. Bradley has come up with his own techniques. I have tried all of them and they all work (for me some are easier than others). Learning how to find my trapped emotions and release them has been one of the more eye opening experiences in my life, not to mention seeing other people have their emotions released from them is amazing. It can be a lot of fun to release these emotions and at the same time very spiritual.
Yes, there is a whole theory of medicine in this book. For the most part it's new (Dr. Nelson calls it "Future Medicine") but if we open our minds just a bit, this book can be totally change the lives of every living being on this planet. Every problem that occurs on this earth can be looked at in a totally different light once you have read, studied and understand The Emotion Code.
Some people, the narrow minded ones might call The Emotion Code "hokey", to those people I say, times are changing. We are learning new things everyday and this book and it's teaching could quite possibly lie in all of our future's. This book has positively affected so many people in my life that I am truly grateful for Dr. Bradley's life changing methods. There are numerous testimonials in The Emotion Code and on his site to give further street cred for his teachings.
If there is a "Must" book of the year, it's The Emotion Code! - BEAR
Intriguing, informative, and just makes sense! by .. B. Norton (Yorba Linda, CA) So interesting and intriguing, I read the entire book cover to cover in one sitting. Dr. Nelson's theories on healing the body just make sense. Our bodies are intelligent and know what they need to be healthy, we just need to know how to ask them, and Dr. Nelson's techniques make it so simple. This book is written in an easy-to-understand format, with lots of real-life experiences and testimonials. Clearly, Dr. Nelson sincerely wants to help people heal themselves and others. I highly recommend this book.
Heartfelt and Informative by .. C. N. Butterfield (Lima, OH United States) I haven't finished The Emotion Code yet, but at the rate I'm going, I'll be done with it shortly. It's obvious how much time and research Dr. Nelson has put into this book, but it doesn't read like a boring journal article or preachy self-help title. The tone is genuine and heartfelt, and the message is one of healing. I highly recommend this book to ppl who have chronic pain or illness that lowers their quality of life and to anyone who is interested in furthering their spiritual and emotional development.
