What DoYou Do With a Tail LIke This 5 by .. NYM (New York)
A terrific children's book which teaches about animal parts (tails, mouthes, noses) and their functions in a very novel way. My 3 year old granddaughter loved it.

child's age 5 by .. John H. Underwood ()
It would be very helpful if you mentioned the age(s) of the children for whom the books have been written.

Great for Art Teachers too! 5 by .. Cvat11 (NC, USA)
This book has amazing images of collage to create animals, and students love the content as well!

Wonderful book! 5 by .. Anna M. Cech ()
I bought this book for my preschool classroom. The kids can't get enough of it and they love guessing which tail belongs to which animal. It's a great early reader for them too!

What DO you do with a tail like this? 5 by .. Matthew J. Baek (Maryland, USA)
A very beautifully illustrated smart book, WHAT DO YOU DO WITH A TAIL LIKE THIS helps kids think outside the box. My 3 year old daughter found it interesting the some creature have ears, mouth, etc. in other place then us humans. The book that starts with a question ends with wanting to ask more questions like the one my daughter asked, "Why do flies have 6 legs and spiders have 8?" I really couldn't answer why but I think this book helped her be more observant.

Interestingly beautiful illustrations help grab attention too, that was the reason I purchased this book in first place. The artist captures every necessary detail with his unique, almost surreal style which permeates throughout the book.

Living With Books 5 by .. Ginny Mapes (Hillsboro, OR United States)
Lots of design information on home decorating with books. If floor space is being taken over by your collection of books and magazines, here is a book packed with creative book storage and display ideas for every room in the house including the bathroom. From "Design Matters" in Oregon Home, "There are options for the maximalists (walls covered floor-to-ceiling with books of all shapes) and minimalists (neatly piled art books as mantelpieces) in us all." So if you are a big-time book collector or just looking to stash your cookbooks, this book is inspiring.

Just what the title says... 5 by .. Bette (East Coast USA)
I'm shocked amd confused by the negative reviews I see here. This is a fabulous photo book. Even if you don't like how others seem to live with/use their books, you have to respect their ingenuity and funky designs. Some are quite sloppy, lol. This will get you thinking about how you can use books as decor and even furniture. This is far from boring, whereas another reviewer mentioned the Ellis book At Home With Books, which I thought was just AWFUL, a total snooze. I've never returned a book to a library so quickly! I was so impressed with LIVING WITH BOOKS that I added it to my wish list...and will be purchasing it today.

disappointing 2 by .. Paula Berman (Phoenix, AZ)
I had high hopes because I love reading about books, but this one was disappointing. I originally gave it three stars for the photos, which are worth looking at, but the text it pretty awful -- a serious drawback in a book aimed at compulsive book collectors. I took off one whole star specifically for a line that says something like, "It doesn't matter if books access is difficult, as long as it isn't completely impossible." Doesn't matter to whom? It does to this reader. I reread. I browse nostalgic favorites. I like to handle my books, and I need to be able to get to them. Also, a substantial number of the storage systems shown appear to be concerned more with style than with storage -- I didn't mind the coffee table constructed of books layered with glass, as those were old design catalogs and the whole was sort of a pun, but the grid system and a few other types of shelves that only contained a book or two here and there as placed by a decorator is really not my idea of living with books. Get this if you want pretty pictures. If you're really interested in books themselves and how they are stored, try Henry Petroski's The Book and the Bookshelf instead.

pretty interesting 4 by .. C. Hill (Oregon, U.S.)
This is more of a coffe table book. It's full of interesting photographs of, what else, books. The pictures show books incorporated into interesting architecture, unique shelving and storage for books, home libraries and offices, etc. The text offers advice and commentary on displaying and storing books in practical, unique, and interesting ways. If you're a bookworm and/or collect lots of books, you would enjoy paging through Living With Books.

Books in their natural habitats . . . 4 by .. Michael K. Smith (Gonzales, Louisiana)
I have a feeling the previous reviewers were expecting a how-to book of home construction projects. Actually this is more of a tour guide. It's fascinating to discover the many creative, ingenious, and very original ways architects and ordinary booklovers have found to store books, display them, and enjoy being in their presence. Face it -- one never has enough bookshelves. And some of these homes are definitely masquerading as libraries! Here are bookshelves up under the eaves of an older house, or installed over the doorways in the hall, or built into closets and cupboards and under kitchen counters. Others are freestanding on metal shelves and poles and rigged like a ship's masts. There are small libraries built into the landings of staircases and others that cover entire walls of bedrooms. Some are two tiers deep, with the front one moving sideways on rollers. Others share space with lamps, TV sets, telephones, clocks, computers, ancient artifacts, photographs, and knick-knacks. And the one thing all the arrangements depicted in this book have in common is, none of them -- even the most attractively arranged -- are just for show. One look at the worn covers and frayed jackets tells you these books are the constant companions of their owners.

Works for me! 5 by .. J. M. Hayes (Michigan)
As a homeschooling mom of five, I am always on the lookout for activities to keep my toddlers engaged in the learning process as well. The Care Bears Paint with Water Books work for me. Not only are the pictures cheerful, but the pages are bright white and colors vibrant. I was pleased to see the paper was substantial and did not "melt" when water was applied. A small paint brush is stored in the cupboard with my coffee cups so that my two and a half year can be quickly set up when she wants to "do painting."

Just like when I was a kid. 5 by .. Kennedy's Mom (All over, USA)
My daughter loved these water color paint books with the paint already on the pages. She just dips her brush in water and paints! My daughter is 20 months, and LOVES this. And the fact that they are the CareBears reminds me of when I was a kid!!

Sharing and Caring Care Bears Paint with Water Book 4 by .. Ginny K. Malloy (USA)
I love the care bears so I like to color. Great book

okay 3 by .. H. Chernin (New Milford, NJ USA)
book was okay but a little less than I expected, I wish they would make the books as good as they did several years ago when I bought them for my little niece, colors were brighter and subjects were more theme oriented

Not for Booklovers 1 by .. Barbara A. Lee (New York, NY)
For anyone trying to solve the problem of living with books, Ms. Hueston provides no help. She arranges books by size and color, for what she perceives as visual interest. One of her displays even uses trompe de l'oeil wallpaper to create the illusion of a library! Many of the rooms shown are in architects' houses, "seaside" homes and European castles. Most of the results are cluttered: every surface in every room (including surfaces created by stacks of books) is covered with vases, ceramics, sculptures, candles, flowerpots, fringed shawls and what she calls "cherished possessions." In addition, many of the bookshelves are encumbered with framed prints or hangings that hide the books. Unless you share her flamboyant taste (including an inordinate fondness for the color red) and have a budget to match, look elsewhere.

Many great ideas! 5 by .. D. S. Jones (Houston, TX)
I loved reading and looking at the pictures in this book! I have a lot of books (and dust-catchers) so needed some ideas on placement. This book shows many different ideas in many different types of settings....living room/dining room/family room/study. It really gave me the courage to try some different things! Also, I saw some books I just MUST have.

Decorating with Books 5 by .. Carolyn M. Gold (NY)
I am completely satisfied with my purchase. It's the first time and I'll do it again.

Excellent book 5 by .. Holly Tobes (Auckland New Zealand)
This book shows some stunning rooms beautifully decorated with books. For everyone who loves books and loves decorating it is full of inspiration and ideas.

Books or Elegant Rooms? 2 by .. Judith Noone (Rome, New York USA)
I sent the book back to Amazon. Was disappointed in it. I expected it to be more about books and less about elegant rooms to put them in. A few books put on a chair or on a table or, obviously, in a bookcase really isn't that imaginative. A good magazine showing displays of collectibles including books does a better job as far as I'm concerned.

Guidebook very helpful 4 by .. G. Houston (Cedar Park, Texas USA)
My Sunday School class is studying CWG Book 1, and we are finding the guidebook helpful in discussing the concepts in the text. The only complaint I have is that there is not a page correlation between the text and the guidebook, at least that we have discovered so far, to know to which chapter the guidebook is referring. We are enjoying the study, however, and find it very stimulating for discussion.

A REAL CONVERSATION? PERHAPS; BUT A GREAT READ! 5 by .. Robert G. Deutchman (Staten island, NY)
Like most, I read this book out of curiosity. It's hard to believe that any one person can have a two-way conversation (interaction) with the Almighty. Nevertheless, I kept an open mind and suspended my doubts.

What I learned is that perhaps our Higher Power or G-d Force speaks directly to us through insight. I grew up believing in a witholding god; if we obey the rules and conform to religious standards and basically "be good," we will be rewarded. All well and good to encourage appropriate and moral behavior.

Many have strayed from their path of rightfulness and behaved badly at times. As a therapist, I've known many who can't let go of guilt and shame for what has been done -- especially when ammends can not be made for a variety of reasons.

We have learned to condemn ourselves to a living hell through our actions. What I get from this book is that there are consequences for our actions.

If you have a spiritual curiosity or are looking to view life and death from a newer perspective, definitly check this book out.

What IF 5 by .. Truth Seeker (California)
It seems to me that the people who have given this book a less than desireable review are the ones who are steeped heavily into the brainwashed religious diatribes of what religions have been pushing down their throats as the truth. What they forget is that the bible was written and re written and edited so many times over and over, that one can only believe that the end result is nothing more than what those religions want you to believe....which of course is for their own agenda.

After being a student of many books along these lines, it only comes to say that these people are "young souls" and are NOT ready for the next step. So you can only go by what they say, with that in mind. Eventually in some life time they will awaken.

This book is one of the best ones I have read, other than Sheppard Hoodwin's "The Journey of Your Soul." These two books together answer and explain any question that you may ever have. I belong to no organized religion, nor ever will be as I find that the "rules" that have been made up in them are just not believable at all.

Open your mind and really look inside these books. You will find a wealth of information beyond anything that you could ever hope for. A world so totally amazing it will boggle your mind.

Guidebook 5 by .. Enigma (British Columbia, Canada)
It goes one more further step in the book of the Conversation with God (Book1). Very analytical and offers tips and guidance along CWG book1.

Hilarious 1 by .. Gregory K. Paxton (Lexington, SC)
It's amazing what some people believe. This is basically
blasphemy. The author's definitely inspired from something,
but it's not God. And all of you so-called "ministers" that
are buying into this trash is mind-boggling.

When the Bible says in 2 Tim.3:16 that God's Word is inspired by God, God was saying through Paul that it is God-breathed, that these words are actually God's Words to us of the salvation story. NO ONE since the conclusion of the writing of the books of the New Testament are inspired by God in the same way. No one
can write or speak today without fallacy or error. Those writers of the Bible wrote what God said to write without error or contradiction. Those words are life-changing words as no other writings are. They are living words from God's mouth.

One Special Christmas Eve (Paint with Water) 5 by .. Elizabeth A. Thrall (Oregon)
I love this. I remember having these as a kid myself. They are not easy to find. They are great for youngsters. My two year old loves these types of paint books, not to hard. Fun, lots of colors. Clean up is easy. I put this one away until closer to Christmas, but can't wait to bring it out for my daughter.

What has happened to water color books? 1 by .. C. Lose (Highlands Ranch, CO USA)
Water color books were a great thing but this one was over priced and poor quality. I guess it was too old. The paint didn't work great and was not vibrant. My daughter lost interest.

Good color - USE Q-TIPS INSTEAD OF PAINT BRUSHES! 4 by .. Kendra Waite (Utah)
There have been some reviews that say the colors run together. THis happens every time if you use too much water. I have discovered that if you let the kids use q-tips instead of paint brushes, this isn't such a problem and the kids can be more accurate. For the paint with water books you find now, this is a pretty good one. The Little People books are really good!

Color book 3 by .. S. Coffman ()
Colors run together. Other than that it is a good way for a little one to paint using water instead of paints. When the colors run together it looks like the page is all one color.

Love This Book 5 by .. M. Kelley (Glen Ellyn, IL USA)
Bought two different books, Care Bear Water Painting Books. They are just like the ones from when I was growing up, which are hard to find in stores. They're great and all you have to worry about is a small glass of water. These were for a 19 mo. old.

A Must Have for the True Bibliophile! 5 by .. Eclectic Booklover (Any Town, USA)
"At Home With Books: How Book Lovers Live and Care for Their Libraries", is a book about books, and book lovers --forty of them. Featured in this book are the diverse libraries created for the passion they all share. This book includes interviews with these bibliophiles. A common trait reveals that the majority of book lovers had an early love for books, that grew as they got older.

This book features beautiful illustrations of many many personal libraries (some far too rich for my taste), but simply spectacular. There is also a lot of practical information on how to arrange and store books, integrate new books into your collection, how to thin out collections, and how to create a comfortable place to read with the right shelving, lighting and furniture.

I really enjoyed flipping the pages, studying the photos, and reading about others with serious book addictions. It gave me some great ideas and made me feel better about my book obsession as well.

Valentine's gift for husband 5 by .. Patressa Gardner (Darlington SC)
My husband is an English professor and our house is filled with books. I read about this one in the Chronicle of Higher Education and knew he would love it. We always try to purchase unusual Valentine's gifts, so it seemed a perfect time to add it to our collection. He loves the book and has taken it to work to share with colleagues.

Highly recommended 5 by .. World Class Shopper (Boulder CO)
Everything you need to know about creating and caring for your home library is in here. A must read/"must-have" for book-lovers.

For those who really have a lot of books 4 by .. Cognitive Scientist ()
I went to Amazon intending to buy a newer book, Decorating with Books, but the reviews of both books led me to buy this one instead. This book will make you feel much more comfortable with having excessive numbers of books, if that is your situation. You know who you are.

A Must-Have for Bibliophiles 5 by .. Julie Merilatt (Chicago, IL)
This book is a must-have for all booklovers. The photographs of personal libraries are amazing and are supplemented with brief bios of the owners. It's a great compilation of collectors and designers. But most useful were the chapters on creating and maintaining a book collection. And the book is concluded with a great comprehensive resource guide (although I wish they had included website addresses with the contact information). Like other reviewers, I found myself scanning the shelves in the photographs to see if these world famous collectors had the same taste in books as me.
