This isa very good book to own if you want to know more about selling on line 5 by .. Monkey (Seattle)
This is an overall good book to own filled with practical advice about how to run an on line book store. Very indepth, sometimes too much so, like the bit about how to package a book for shipping, but you also do not get that level of detail in anyone elses book either. This is one of the quartet of books you should get when you decide you want to open up your own on line book store.

There are a lot of things sellers need to know and lots of support for this need for knowledge in the book from customer service, what to pay for books, how to grade and price books, as well as tons of other great information that you will need.

Overall 5 of 5 books, enjoyed reading this and learning how to apply the well thought out advice presented in this book.

Probably one of the best tools for our new business 5 by .. Todd Macon (Durango, CO)
Michael Mould deserves serious kudos from the world of used booksellers. This book is extremely thorough and gives fantastic nuts and bolts advice. Mike is both rational and encouraging--he avoids the hype of "start-ups" which allows his book to be genuine and open-minded. His "day in the life" anticipates the "basic" questions and his lists of services and weblinks are very helpful. I also highly recommend buying copies that come with the CD "Bookkeeping for Booksellers". That Mike shares all the work he has done is generosity on a karmic scale. Not only is the book helpful, but Mike has created and inspired a large and collaborative community of booksellers through his work. Thanks, Mike, for pointing the way.

"The devil is in the details." 5 by .. B. Baker (Lancaster, PA)
Michael Mould covers every detail for those who are interested in online bookselling (as a hobby or a business). I keep this book on my desk and refer to it frequently. Personally, I found the photographs on packaging and shipping to be very interesting (and vital, considering some of his own USPS experiences and insights). He even provides an informative "A Day in the Business" section detailing his own daily bookselling procedures. Very helpful. I have yet to see another bookselling guide to offer such detailed information or step-by-step illustration.

Online Bookselling by Michael E. Mould 5 by .. Ila Jarol (Surprise, AZ)
I probably purchased every book on selling books online. The book by Michael E. Mould, if purchased first, would have saved me a lot of money and frustration. He has answered every question I could have asked about selling books online in a concise easy to understand format. I have used many of his suggestions from scheduling my time to pricing and grading my inventory and much more in-between. His impressions of where to sell my books was useful since I was already signed up with Amazon but had not begun to sell anything. He gave me the confidence to know I had made the right decision in choosing Amazon. His knowledge of the proper tools and procedures for saving me from wasting a lot of time has been very helpful.
I am a senior citizen and the less I have to handle the inventory the better. That's one of the best suggestions I took away from the book. Thank you, Mr. Mould
Ila J.

Fabulous Resource 5 by .. Richard Head (Tonganoxie, KS USA)
Patti has done an excellent job of putting together a collection of ideas and suggestions from some of the most accomplished online learning "experts." By that, I don't necessarily mean people with academic backgrounds. I mean people who've been in the business trenches and have found from experience what worked, what didn't, and what might have worked if it had been presented differently. What's missing from so many books of this kind is what I call the "how to." Patti acknowledges that fact with, "This book shows you concrete examples of people making learning better every day, in all kinds of settings, all over the world."

The book can be read in a linear fashion, but I found that I liked jumping around in it and making my own "Ah ha" connections among the ideas. Most ideas are no more than 3-4 pages, and include many job aids and visual references which make the ideas come alive.

I highly recommended this collection. You'll start making your own connections and developing material that will help your learners truly engage and enjoy.

Fantastic E-learning Resource 5 by .. Danielle Watkins (Golden, CO)
All instructional designers creating instructor led, blended, or e-learning should read this book and have plenty of post-its or flags on hand. I found many great new ideas that I can adapt and use in a variety of learning environments. This is a great reference book that those in ID should keep at arms length as they are designing.

An Interesting Survey 5 by .. L. W. Precht (College Park, MD USA)
This book takes an interesting approach to online learning. Rather than an author expounding on some specific learning methodology that's guaranteed to revolutionize your system and your learners, Patti Shank collects ideas from practitioners in the field including her own experiences. Most of the contributors provided more than one idea to the text, but there are still at least 30 different viewpoints represented. And, the contributors seem to come from a wide spectrum of (mostly U.S.) educators in both corporate training and higher education.

The book contains almost 100 ideas broken into 10 broad categories related to online learning. Sections like: Ideas for Making Collaboration Work, Ideas for Supporting Learners and Learning, Ideas for Synchronous Activities, etc. Each idea is presented succinctly in 1-4 pages outline style. And, each is detailed by what the idea is, why you would want to use it, how you might use it and who to contact for more information (if needed). Most ideas contain at least one screen shot showing the idea "in action".

As a software developer, I have spent the last 15 years on the "other side" of online learning: designing, building and operationally supporting a number of Learning Management Systems. So many of these ideas presented here were quite familiar to me. The rest ran the gamut from insightful to kind of campy. However, the format made for a fast and easy read. Well worth the time spent.

The book is probably best suited for educators and instructional designers looking to find ways to spruce up their offerings or increase the effectiveness of their material. All of the ideas are aimed at increasing the interactivity of online learning.

For someone interested in online learning and looking to see what kinds of tools and techniques are out there, this book is a great survey of current practice.

A treasure trove of interactive ideas 5 by .. Cynthia Denton-Ade (Burke, VA)
Patti Shank has collected a treasure trove of interactive ideas for all types of online learning -- synchronous, asynchronous, instructor-led, and self-directed. Even experienced designers and developers are sure to find new and creative ideas for improving online programs. In fact, I came up with innovative ideas for my classroom training (particularly in the synchronous training chapter.) All you need is a little imagination to use these ideas to solve a wide range of learning challenges. When the examples are not proprietary, Patti provides links so you can see the ideas in action. For example, the book references two low-cost software programs to help assess learning (e.g., Hot Potatoes and Quiz Game Master.) A companion CD in the next edition of this book would be a great asset for helping visualize some of the ideas presented.

I suggest The Online Learning Idea Book be a part of your "toolkit" for designing any type of online learning program. You can also feel confident that the Patti's collection of ideas are based on solid performance improvement theory and will make a true impact on your learners.

Excelllent starter book for online book selling 5 by .. Reader (Chicago, IL USA)
There are so many books out there nowadays that talk about online book selling. The reason I picked this one to read is because I liked it's author's name - Windwalker. It was delight to find out that the author is in fact Native American. But besides that personal preference of mine, I found book to be very helpful. As most people, I started selling books online as a means of relinquishing non-essential inventory from my personal library. It is thru the interactions of my online customers that I learned to enjoy an activity previously considered a chore. Although I am not a professional bookseller, I am delighted to be a part of the bookselling community for the books I no longer wish to keep in my personal library that can still find a good home. This book manual has helped me understand some basic business rules on bookselling which I kind of pick up on intuitively. This is a comprehensive handbook that covers everything, from building a business plan, to making a proper book descriptions online. Without large inventory, I cannot see how people can make living off this. But as a hobby, this is a great way to deliver books to a reading community where readership has limited resources or time to find them in the regular brick and mortar book stores. I definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about online bookselling.

Selling Used Books Online 5 by .. S. Bittner (Wisconsin, USA)
This is an EXELLENT book for the newbie or advanced bookseller. There is a little something for everyone in it. It was written in laymen language for the new comer to the business sauve. I found it informative, helpful, great for anyone in the book business. A MUST read book. Worth the purchase. I give it a 5!!!!

Second thoughts about selling used books 5 by .. Lawrence Johnson (Pennsylvania)
I have been selling my old books on line at ebay and half com for awile now and thought an online book store sounded like a good idea. I thought that I would seek some expert advice and in doing so purchased Selling Used Books Online by Stephen Windwalker. This book has proven to be an excellant choice. While some of the information is a bit dated, overall it is a very good book. It doesn't sugar coat the book selling business and make it seem like a wonderfull and easy way to make a living. Mr. Windwalker gives you the good with the bad and shows how selling used books requires a lot of work and and a lot of knoweledge. This book has helped me tremendously in my attempts at making money selling used books. Not only has it helped with my book selling but it has made me more aware of what to look for in my book buying. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who thinks they can just go online and get rich selling used mass market paperbacks.

Great for New Booksellers 5 by .. An Honest Reviewer (Detroit)
I read this book when I first started selling books on amazon and I had so many questions. This book answered them all in a simple, direct manner. I have read just about every book that comes out on the subject, and this by far is the most informative and well written. Who cares about the cheap plastic binding? It's the information inside that is important and in this regard, this book is a winner!

Getting this guide is like hiring a personal trainer and mentor. 5 by .. downeast bookseller ()
Yes, it's true that Amazon itself does a good job of being user-friendly for sellers, but for new-to-the-business folks like me, this is a terrific guide. It's like hiring a personal trainer who's at your side when you want her. It's like exercise--yes, you can do it all by yourself, but it does help to have that one-on-one expertise.

Miller is organized, clear and concise and, she's got a cheeky sense of humor to relieve tension and remind you that, yes, you can do this and it's going to be fine and it's going to be fun! The format is actually easier to use than a paperback book because I can prop it open on the desk to refresh my memory as I work and for whatever step I'm at: creating an accurate listing, contacting customers, finding tools and services to take it to the next level, and so on. In addition, her insider tips from her years in the business are quite helpful and easy to follow.

This is a particularly helpful first guide and then you can graduate and move onto the more sophisticated and involved stuff. Great investment.

I got my start with this book! 5 by .. Idaho Cat Lady (Boise, Idaho)
I love books and wanted to investigate selling them on Amazon, so I bought this book. It basically gave me everything I needed to know to get started, and the incentive to try. Although I am still very small, just selling a few books a week, I am in the process of building my inventory and have found that Ms. Miller is right - this is a do-able and profitable business and this book was absolutely invaluable in helping me to get started, and I am going to re-read it again as a continuing reference.

Must Read for a would-be bookseller or experienced bookseller 5 by .. Charles (Park Ridge Illinois)
Concise and to-the-point. Easy read. Great real-life examples of seller success stories. Chock full of helpful tips and advice to increase your sales and maintain motivation. If you want to be successful selling books, then read this book first. In fact, read it a few times just to be sure the information hits home. You can easily read it in just over an hour or so. Five-star effort all the way! Thanks Christine!

Okay Info for beginers 3 by .. Allison (Tennessee)
I have been selling books on Amazon for several months now and was looking for a book that could give me a little more expertise and tips on how to be more effective at buying and selling books. I found this book to be mostly information I have read many times before in other places, with very little new useful info for anyone who has been selling for more than a few months. This book has some good information for new book sellers, but you can get 99% of this info by reading the Amazon.com guidelines on selling and reading Michael E. Moulds' blog, both of which are free. If you don't want to spend 30 minutes on Google to get this information for yourself, then this is the book for you. If not, don't waste your money.

Fantastic overview of the ITIL Foundation. They offer an online course combined with a study guide book. Online training is well presented and easy to follow. They also offer tests at the end of every section to assess your knowledge. For a complete certification kit this is a very reasonable price.

ITIL Program Purchase 4 by .. Anthony P. Latorre (Philadelphia, Pa, USA)
The purchase from Amazon was straight forward and the supplementary book was quickly delivered. The on-line program is easy to start and operate via web browser. The subject matter is presented in a logical, progressive manner. I've only been through a few chapters, but I feel like I am learning the material. The navigation in the on-line program is a bit difficult. Could not go back and review previous pages. I have only been able to re-start a whole chapter.

Fantastic Book 5 by .. Mitch Paioff (Littleton, CO)
I recently finished writing my first book in nearly 20 years and was looking for information about selling it online. I bought Plug Your Book! by Steve Weber and I'm glad I did. I really had no idea just how drastically the book publishing industry has changed since the 1980's.

One strategy that I started using as a result of reading this book is writing book reviews on Amazon.com (hence this one). I had never written a book review in my life until I read Weber's book. Now I write them all the time.

This is has been one of those rare buying experiences for me - the product I bought actually exceeded my expectations - by a long shot. This book is packed with useful information for authors and publishers. I really don't think you can get this kind of information anywhere else.

I highly recommend Plug Your Book!

Mitch Paioff, Author, Getting Started as an Independent Computer Consultant

Definitely a Valuable Tool!!! 4 by .. Anne Preciado Rich (Roseburg, OR)
I found that the book had some very important and valuable information, giving both pros and cons of different aspects of online marketing...in the rapidly changing field of book publishing, this book is a must read. If you don't use all of the book's suggestions, (I ended up using a totally different web host than those originally suggested in the book because it seemed much more user-friendly to my neophyte sensibilities), it will certainly get you pointed in the right direction. Thanks a bunch to author Steve Weber for laying it all out!!!

This book is teriffic! 5 by .. EZPowell / Gavin Powell (USA)
I didn't think any book could come with new stuff on this topic but it does. There is some old stuff but plenty of new tricks to get my teeth around in plugging my stuff online. I have been told by publishers that online sales account for 10% of sales - now I am beginning to wonder.

The BEST marketing resource for the internet age 5 by .. Author of Top Self Publishing Firms (Seattle, WA)
I have read at least a dozen titles on book marketing and I believe this to be the most valuable book available for today's world of internet marketing. The great part about online marketing is that you can actually target specific markets and it's usually free.

This book will help you focus your online marketing strategies in several ways:
* Influencing and Understanding the Amazon sales Rank
* Setting up and Effective Website
* Creating an Online Press Kit
* How to Get More Amazon Reviews
* Effective Use of Blogs
* A Page for your Book on Sites like MySpace.com
* Leveraging Social Networking
* Leveraging Amazon.com

This is the only book I've read that doesn't just tell you what to do in terms of book marketing, but it tells you specifically how to do it. It's really the only resource you need for marketing your book.

Stacie Vander Pol, author of Top Self Publishing Firms

A Concrete, Step by Step Guide to Marketing On Line 5 by .. Mary Beth Sturgis, RN, PhD (Naples, FL USA)
Plug Your Book was recommended to me at a writers' workshop. It is a step by step guide to marketing on line. This is useful information to me, even during the process of writing a book. I use each chapter like a cookbook, opening up a page, opening up a website, and exploring that website according to the principles Weber is explaining. I already knew how to purchase books on Amazon.com. But, through Weber's book, I have learned the process of peer review, how to participate in that process, and how to approach reviewers. All the chapters provide a foundation for me as I write a book. The chapter on author websites explains how an author website is not just an advertisement. There are specific recommendations for designing an author website, or design a website with a newsletter as preparation for publishing a book. I have given myself permission to take as many years as I need to publish my first book. Weber's book provides me, as well as other new authors, with multiple resources for the whole process of writing, publishing, and marketing our work.

The First Place to Start Your Book Promotion 5 by .. Jinger Jarrett (Alpharetta, GA)
I've read a lot of books on self publishing. I decided on self publishing for myself because I didn't want to take 18 months to get a book published, and I didn't want to share the profits if I had to do the marketing anyway.

The problem with these types of self publishing books is that they contain a lot of information on self publishing, but in the marketing chapters the marketing information is skimpy at best.

Another problem I had was that when I looked for information specifically on book marketing, I really couldn't find a whole lot that allowed me to take full advantage of the internet (i.e. getting the word out quickly and automating some of the work.)

What information that was available involved having to travel, or doing tasks that are really time consuming. Because of my schedule and lifestyle, I needed marketing techniques that were fairly easy to do, effective, and could be done at home.

Finding this book is like an answer to a prayer. It does everything I mentioned about and includes plenty of techniques on how to market your book online specifically using Amazon. Since Amazon is the number one bookstore online anyway, it's where you want to go because that's where your customers are.

Sampson includes all of the techniques and even rates them for you so you know which ones are the most effective. It is a fast read (will only take you a couple of hours), and you can begin marketing on Amazon immediately.

What separates the best sellers from those books that are never read is marketing. Although many writers may avoid marketing like the plague, for those of you who don't mind marketing (I don't), this book offers you a viable opportunity to connect with your readers, make more money, and spend less time doing it. Even if you hate marketing, this is a good book for you because it's a great marketing plan for introverts.

Once you've written that book, and you're ready to start promoting, start with this book. It will save you the days and weeks I spent researching to find the right marketing information.

This book will save you time, it will save you money, and it will end any stress you may have over trying to figure out how to market your books and make money from them. Highly recommended.

Universal strategies 4 by .. L. Power (San Francisco)
Having gone through this book several times, I have gotten several great ideas about selling on Amazon. It was not necessarily something specific the book said, more like 'Oh, and I could do that!, or thats a great idea.'

You may have wondered, what benefit could I possibly get from doing a list or listmania. As a reviewer, I think 'what's the point?' tons of people look at these lists, but hardly anyone says they are helpful?

From an author's perspective though these lists are read by thousand of people, and if you tweak your presentation as the author suggests, that is thousands of potential customers for your book. In addition, if you do not already write reviews, this can also give you much exposure, and if you develop some skill as the author suggests, you can raise your profile.

The multiple book strategy, I found very useful, and the ebook strategy he mentioned is also valuable. If you don't already know about ISBN numbers, hello, then you need to get the book.

How can a new writer have a similar presence to a seasoned writer on an Amazon search?

What are the economics of an ebook versus a regular paperback? Very useful to know.

My personal recommendation to you is study how other authors market themselves, how you notice them as you peruse, and what they do to stand out. Some top reviewers on Amazon are also authors. Look at what they do on their profiles.

If you're like me, you,ll get some inspired ideas of how to use information and strategies in the book. I hope this is helpful to you.

Great self-help book! 5 by .. B A DUR "One Shot" (The Glove State)
This book is truly Amazing!
Amazon is some machine these days and this book will give you the tools to be its `Master' and not its `Monkey'.
All aspects of Marketing your book via Amazon (and in some cases beyond) are covered in this easy to read, easy to follow book.
Not only does it coach you through what paths are relevant for you, it also suggest how effective they may be.
A must read on self publishing along, with `Aiming at Amazon' and the legendary `Self Publishing Manual'

An outstanding guide through Amazon and the world of self publishing 5 by .. Kent Hugus (Escondido, California, USA)
Introduced to writing by Chris Baty's NaNoWriMo, I spent three years writing my Airman's Trilogy, all the while trying to determine how to market my work the conventional way. You know, find an agent willing to take you on and shop your stuff at publishing houses. Then along came POD and the tools provided by Amazon.

Amazon introduced CreateSpace, freeing the newbie author of the "conventional way". Sampson's book provides a shining path through the maze of Amazon and picks up after publishing with CreateSpace to educate the author about the selling tools provided Amazon. It's step by step approach is refreshing to the newbie writer of this review.

What Can You do for Amazon? 4 by .. Philip Davis (Salt Lake City, USA)
Fast & Furious Book Promotion

I just finished reading Brent Sampson's Sell Your Book on Amazon and recommend it to any author looking to use Amazon more effectively. The book will help you navigate the sometimes clunky nature of Amazon, show you tactics you may not find on your own and set up the proper mindset. The proper mindset is what I found most useful. I kept thinking of JFK's inaugural speech when he said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." Amazon provides its tools and has set up its website to first and foremost sell more books. If an author understands and accepts this fact, then he or she will discover how to use Amazon to help promote their own books.

Here's an example: I'm taking Brent's advice and leaving a review for his book. On this review form, I can link to any Amazon product. Well, of course I'm linking to my book on book promotion. I'm helping Amazon but also helping myself. Now if I didn't have a book of my own, I might link to another author's book. This is the mindset we need to have to use Amazon to promote our books.

The buzz word in publishing houses and at writer s conferences these days is platform.
As in, What is the author s platform?
With more than 175,000 new titles published each year, publishers want to sign authors who are capable of helping to sell their book.
The platform may be that the author is a widely syndicated columnist, is the internationally acclaimed expert in his field, or is a highly sought-after motivational speaker. Or perhaps the author is a New York City television news anchor. These types of platforms make a publisher s mouth water.
But what about authors who aren t widely known or acclaimed? How does the ordinary guy build a credible platform?
The answer: the Internet. Today you can build an international platform right from your kitchen table even if your kitchen table is in Manhattan...Kansas.

A Required Source Book for Authors 5 by .. Leigh Le Creux (Oviedo, FL)
I actually received a referral for this book from a publisher, as they use it themselves for reference and a tool for new authors. this book is truly a gold nugget of information.
The book is short, but there are countless references and resources to more detailed information - enough to keep any author busy for weeks on end.
The most important note in the book for me was what I tell others who ask me about publishing their 'dream'. Writing a book is easy compared to the marketing, the marketing is where the major work is. Whether you self-publish or go traditional publishing routes, this book is filled with valuable information on how to get started. Even traditional publishing houses expect authors to be very active in their own marketing. Stephanie's book is a perfect guide to get you going. Thank you Stephanie!

An Internet Marketing guide for consultants who have written and published in some form in order to promote themselves. 3 by .. Jeff Lippincott (Princeton, NJ USA)

This book was not one of my favorites. I did not find it to be particularly well written, nor outlined well. And to make matters worse, I didn't think it was long enough to legitimately be called a real book. The body of the book is only 132 pages long. Then comes a less-than Directory of Resources from pages 133 to 140. And the book ends on page 143. There is an Introduction and 9 chapters as follows:

1. The truth about publishing
2. Web site strategies
3. Setting up your Web site
4. Web site enhancement tools
5. Building your expert status
6. Online marketing strategies
7. Online media opportunities
8. Amazon.com success strategies
9. Final thoughts

Without question this book is just another of a long line of Internet Marketing books on the market today. There is little new between its covers. Ever since early 2006 I have been aware of the author's "Internet Platform" because I read a couple of her books and Googled her name to find all the marketing techniques she had been using to promote herself and her business ventures. Overall, I have been impressed with the author and the self promotion techniques she has employed online. Unfortunately I have not found her to be a particularly good writer. Sorry. She does not focus on a subject well in her books and fully explain it. She tends to get sidetracked. And her editors (if she has them) don't catch her on this.

The title of the instant book provides that this book is an "author's guide" to Internet marketing. But what kind of author are we talking about? Is it an author of fiction, i.e., romance writers, fantasy writers, science fiction writers, chik lit writers, mystery writers, etc? If so, then why was there a need for Chapter 5 regarding "Building an Expert Status?" Is it an author of nonfiction, i.e., business writers, how-to writers, or some other book that needs to be written by an expert? If so, then why didn't the title to the book specify it was about authors who write nonfiction? Or is it not really an author at all, but instead a consultant who does some writing? If so, then why did the title to the book even include the term "author" at all?

The book is clearly an overview of the Internet Marketing tools and techniques the author has used to create her own Online Platform. But is she just an author? Or is she more like Dan S. Kennedy who she profiled in Chapter 4? He says he is first and formost a consultant and he publishes primarily for self-promotion reasons. He says there may be some profit from publishing books, but that is a distant consideration. So having said all this, is the book really one for authors? Or is it one for consultants? I think the latter.

Knowing what I know about Internet Marketing for authors, I was disappointed in the coverage of Amazon.com. I don't think an author should have shopping cart technology embedded in their author Web sites. I say this because authors should seek to maximize sales of their books on Amazon so the books will rank high on Amazon's top sales list ranking. The author should become an affiliate of Amazon and direct sales from their author site to Amazon where Amazon will process the sale. Their author blog or blogs should direct traffic to Amazon for book sales, too. If Amazon processes the sale, then there is no need for the author to have a shopping cart on their site.

I was also disappointed in the coverage of Amazon.com since Chapter 8 did not come close to helping the reader with Amazon as compared to the coverage presented in "Sell Your Book on Amazon" (ISBN: 1432701967). The instant book being reviewed could have re-written the best of that book and included it as Chapter 8. But that is not the case, unfortunately.

If the title were changed so it properly reflected its content, then I would give the book 4 stars! But that would have been a gift because I would have been rounding up my star rating from a 3.6. But since the title is off, and the book is short and not particularly well outlined or written, I am dropping my rating to 3 stars. It's just an OK book. 3 stars!

The Definitive Guide to "Outside of the Box" Marketing 5 by .. Dr Bruce Hoag (USA/Europe)
I bought this book after reading Terry Whalin's very helpful newsletter "The Writing Life" (http://www.right-writing.com/newsletter.html) in which he recommended it.

The book begins by explaining what Ms. Chandler calls "the truth about publishing," - the fact that, for the author, there is more to selling books than just writing them. Production costs are so high that publishers routinely expect authors to make as much effort to promote their books as they can.

Promotion, however, begins long before the book is written. Your website is the best tool you have for marketing yourself; but, as one online contributor put it, promoting yourself on the Internet is similar to planting seeds: the effect of doing both takes time.

Although this may seem self-evident to most people, it is remarkable how little of what is accepted as common knowledge is actually put into practice. Few people really understand search engine optimization, though there are plenty who talk about it, and even fewer who know how to maximize their web presence. This book provides practical advice for how to do both.

I read the book in several short sittings over the course of a week; however, it took as much time to jot down all the things I needed to do to improve my own online marketing plan and to check the numerous websites she mentioned and that also seemed relevant to me. I intend to incorporate many of her suggestions into the maintenance of my web site. I recommend that you buy this book and do the same.

Starting reading at 7:00 p.m. and at 10:00 p.m. I was still taking notes 5 by .. Kathy Condon (Vancouver, WA)
As the self-publisher of my first book, I readily admit I have a great deal to learn. Can't say writing the book was the easy part -- yet, I certainly understand there is MUCH I need to learn to get my book out so people can benefit from the discoveries I have made in my Executive Coaching business.

Twice during the evening I found myself getting up and "checking" a website she recommended. Now I wish I had this book before I published my book. Obviously, I missed a number of opportunities to get some advance publicity.....and let's not even think about how I didn't have the advantage of ALL her information on press releases for the book.

Today I got up bright and early and started implementing ideas she discussed in her book. For starters, you wouldn't believe how many places you can put your profile. Amazing thing is that you are probably already a member; yet haven't taken advantage of the profile on the sites.

I still have a number of things circled that I haven't tried. Though I'm planning on getting up early tomorrow again and implementing some more of her great ideas.

Great for fiction authors too! 5 by .. Tony Knight (Leeds)
As a writer of fiction, I found this book to be extremely helpful in building my on-line platform. Stephanie presents her expertise in a clear concise manner that I appreciate in a book. No extraneous fluff where you need to read and read pages of the author's filler material, just to try and extract the real point the author is trying to make.

I absolutely recommend this book to any author, fiction or otherwise, who is trying to promote their work.

Easy to read and quite useful 4 by .. Arnie Bernstein (Chicago, IL USA)
Though I've published a few books, Get Known Before the Book Deal has stuff both the novice and the seasoned can use to their respective advantage. The material on building an author platform to sell yourself is great refresher for me; her advice on blogs and and Internet promotion is invaluable. Plus it's easy to read, nothing hidden or complex. Sound advice, well told.

A great guide for building your business -- writing or otherwise 5 by .. Martha F. Junge (Sunnyvale, CA USA)
Writing may be an art, but getting published is a business. This is the first book I've read where the author not only understands that, but also makes it easy for the reader to take action. Christina Katz defines a platform as "...all the ways you are visible and appealing to your future, potential, or actual readership." Substitute the word "clients" for "readership" and in this book you'll find everything business owners need to learn how to position and promote their companies or their first book. Plus, the info is presented logically, in easy-to-understand-and-implement chunks, without the hype that pads so many self-marketing books. There is an incredible amount of practical advice and real-world tips packed into 260 pages, along with encouraging statements to convince even the most self-promotion-phobic readers that, "Yes, I can!" I'm glad "Get Known before the Book Deal" came out in November because it's going to be a stocking stuffer for every writer and entrepreneur on my list!
