Not just ideas for book reports, this book is filled with ideas for activating student learning. It is also not just for middle grade/middle school students. I have used several of these activities with high school students. My students enjoyed the activities and as a result more learning took place.

You do not have to do any work with this book, and that is the part I love more than anything! (As a teacher I have enought to do) Worth the money!!!

I am a middle school teacher who was looking for a way to get my English students to even DO a book report. This book was an answer to whatever prayer I had. I reach for this book over and over again throughout the years. The results take a bit of work but are OUTSTANDING. This book is one of my favorite resource books. Most kids dread doing book reports but this book has plenty of great projects/alternatives as alternatives to a traditional book report. My students love picking which project they will do for their individual reading book. They also complete these at home. I know one review said it only has classroom ideas, which is not true. We never did these in class.

When I read the title of this book I was excited to find something that would give me ideas for having students respond to literature. Book reports are traditionally an at-home project so I assumed this book would provide alternative at-home projects. The book only provided ideas practical for the classroom and they are not suitable for projects. This book was a real disappointment.

Can any of us ever agree with 100% of the opinions and recommendations of another professional? No, it just doesn't happen. However, we can appreciate well written and organized reports with detailed recommendations that make implementation a breeze for the reader (be they parent, teacher, therapist, etc.). This CD can significantly add to your library of precise and detailed recommendations. It works well with WORD and other word processors, is searchable, and transferred without a hitch. Will it make you competent in areas you weren't competent in before you got it? No, again. But it will improve your options and offer you new material to consider incorporating. My son found the entire text helpful in our learning process of book reports. I homeschool and we try to find books to help him learn on his own, this book was perfect for it. He was able to easily follow the directions and apply them to real reports that I require he write for me once each month on a book he has finished. We used this for our fifth grade curriculm writing.
