Product Description Rather than simply retelling the most familiar short scenes from the Bible, this book presents the big picture the unified story running through the Old and New Testaments. This delightful book will help children learn the Bible s whole story and begin to appreciate the fulfillment of God's promise to his people. The Big Picture Bible Story Book is perfect for parents to read to their children, and eventually, for children to read on their own. It is an excellent way to introduce them to a book that will guide them through all of life. Customer reviews Did not like this Bible...AT ALL by .. BRTIVA (USA) I was so excited to get this Bible for my kids, given all the excellent reviews. I've been searching for a really good children's Bible and kept being disappointed. I was sure this would be the one for us. Boy was I wrong! I am a very conservative Christian and I just didn't see this Bible giving an accurate account of the stories. It seemed to have a very "interpretive" spin on them. One I didn't think was accurate or appropriate. I was really disappointed, to say the least. I did, very much, feel like a lot of the stories emphasized God's "punishment" of people. While I believe strongly in discipline, and believe that "God chastens those whom He loves," I do not think the theme of "punishment," which I thought was pretty blatant in this Bible, was doing God's word justice at all. Yes, there is eternal punishment, and the Bible teaches that, but it is not what is being taught in this Bible. Further, the themes of love, redemption, grace, etc are too subtle to really be enjoyed, much less even seen by children. For instance, this Bible says that God kicked Adam and Eve out of the Garden to "punish" them. This is interpretive. It was not a punishment, it was a disciplinary measure to help them see their sin and their need for God. It was to teach them what life is like without God, and realize how they had been wrong. Further, it was to protect them--God did not want them to eat from the Tree of Life, and "live forever." I interpret that to mean, as in a mortal life, in their sinful state. God, in His *mercy," protected them from eating from that Tree, which would have been far worse since they were in a fallen state. I know that is *my* interpretation, but the "punishment" theory in this Bible is also interpretive. It would have been much better to simply leave out the interpretation, and just tell the story.
In addition to this, I found some of the stories to be awkward in the way they were told, seeming like they were abrupt in their endings. Some of them just didn't seem to flow very well, and I felt as though I needed to ad-lib a bit so they made sense and stayed true to the actual Bible Story. I found this pretty frustrating.
I have the "Read and See" Bible (Stephen Elkins) also and I think the stories there are much better. I plan to purchase the "Word and Song" Bible (also Stephen Elkins) which is extremely similar to the Read and See, but contains more stories (I think it contains at least one from every single book of the Bible, but I am not positive). I also have some of the "Greatest Bible Stories ever Told" series, (also Stephen Elkins--stories are the same as the Word and Song Bible) and find those to be far more accurate and less interpretive than this Big Picture Bible.
On the whole, this is one of the worst Kid's Bible purchases I have made. I learned my lesson and now try to get a copy to look at for myself before purchasing a book.
Illustrations as well as text SO BIBLICAL and well researched! by .. momof3 () As a mom of a 4 year old, 3 year old, and 3 month old, I don't have as much time as I'd like to list ALL of the amazing things about this story-Bible. But, WOW - I read the whole thing through in one sitting when I first bought it - and had goosebumps.
This book really gives children a glimpse of the "bigness" of God's story.
BEAUTIFUL illustrations. emotion-evoking. wow.
Best children's Bible story book! by .. Stephen Wesner (Indiana) The title says it all! This book tells the "Big Picture" story of the Bible. It uses different narrative stories to outline a Biblical theology. It is builds general, but very solid foundation for understanding God's work through biblical history!
Great kids bible! by .. annaboog (chicago, il) This Bible was recommended to us by our Pastor. It is a great Bible to read to your kids because it explains in kid friendly language and illustrations God's redemptive plan through Scripture. It is also a very accurate and God centered/honoring Bible for kids...it has been great for my daily Bible reading time with my 3 (& even 9) yr old girls.
It has also been very useful for our Sunday school classes for young children that is currently going through John Piper's young children curriculum. It is one of the few (if not the only) Bibles that we can use in conjunction with the curriculum because he encourages the teacher to paraphrase/retell/rewrite Scripture to ensure that it is God centered and age appropriate for the younger kids to understand along with the lessons---THANK YOU for writing/creating such a wonderful Bible!
A Tremendous Addition to Your Child's Library by .. Trevin Wax () Congratulations go to author David Helm, illustrator Gail Schoonmaker and the good people at Crossway Books for putting out a book that I have read more than fifteen times this year!
If I could pick only one story Bible for my children,The BIg Picture Story Bible would be the one.
Other Bible story books turn Old Testament stories into moralistic lessons. Joseph? Share your toys. Daniel? Stand up for Jesus. David? Be courageous. If these moralisms are your idea of a children's Bible, you probably won't like The Big PIcture Story Bible.
But if you are like me and you have long hoped for a book that teaches children the biblical story from Creation to New Creation - a book that anticipates Jesus in the Old Testament and makes his crucifixion and resurrection the proper climax of the New Testament - then this book is for you.
This book is pure gold. Even the illustrations convey a message. The artist thoughtfully and strategically places a "star" upon God's chosen representative, from Abraham to Isaac, from Jacob to David and Solomon. There are future glimpses of Jesus throughout the Old Testament.
The story itself contains one central plot aim: "God's people in God's place under God's rule." This theme provides direction for every story in the book.
The Bible stories are told creatively. Take for instance the preface to Jesus' birth:
Caesar, the Roman ruler, the king of the whole Roman world, began counting all his people to show everyone how great he was. What Caesar did not know was that... God, the world's true ruler, the king of the universe, was getting ready to show everyone how great he was. And do you know how God was going to do this? Not like Caesar... not proudly, by counting all his people, but humbly, by becoming one of his people.
Some stories might be more abbreviated than you expect. (David and Goliath receives two pages within a longer passage about how God keeps his promises to his people. The prophet Daniel is only mentioned in the context of his prayers for the Messiah.) But whereas some of the excitement of individual stories gets left out, the growing anticipation of God's people being under God's rule more than compensates.
The Big Picture Story Bible does not shy away from theology. Of course, theological concepts are kept simple for children, but the author takes great care in pointing to Jesus through the Exodus, the kings, the prophets - reaching back to past events to fill in the meaning of the atonement. All of the stories ultimately point ahead to Jesus.
I fully expect that The Big Picture Story Bible will one day be considered a classic Storybook for children. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Our son loves it, and we do too. It has been a tremendous addition to our library.

Product Description "The Jesus Storybook Bible" tells the story beneath all the stories in the Bible. At the center of the story is a baby, the child upon whom everything will depend. Every story whispers his name. From Noah to Moses to the great King David - every story points to him. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle - the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, as the story unfolds, children will pick up the clues and piece together the puzzle. A Bible like no other, "The Jesus Storybook Bible" invites children to join in the greatest of all adventures, to discover for themselves that Jesus is at the center of God's great story of salvation - and at the center of their story too. Customer reviews Children's Bible by .. Jessica J. Nelson (NY, NY) This Bible is written in a way that makes the Scriptures come to LIFE for children. I cannot help but getting teary when I read it as well. The words do not deviate from the Truth of the Bible, but only enhance it. There are so many things that are articulated so clearly the way God had intended them to be understood in this book. Kids love it, it's full of great pictures and words.
Read it from beginning to end!
Great book about Jesus for children by .. Lillian () This was a great book that I really enjoyed with my young children. The story was well written and the illustrations made the story come to life. It's a great way to spend time with your kids. By the way there is a beautiful new book on Jesus for adults entitled "The Enlightenment, What God Told Me After One Million Prayers: A Message for Everyone," by John H. Eagan. It's really great and deals with Jesus' teachings and His Passion so deeply but you have to be an adult to appreciate it.
Great for kids by .. Richmond Readers (Richmond, VA) We love reading this Bible to our daughter. What is especially notable is the way that it is written in easy to understand lingo and ties the OT scriptures to Christ - the great Rescuer.
Enjoyable Bible story book by .. Mom of three () I bought this book months ago and read it with my older two children each night for our storytime. They are ages 6 and 10. I absolutely loved the book, regardless of the fact that the author took a few creative liberties as mentioned in other reviews. While I would love it to be absolutely perfect and true, I've found that many children's bibles are so factual they don't hold a child's attention. I feel this book is accurate in the important things, and only deviates from very little things that would require more explaining, thus making the story too complicated. Like one reviewer mentioned the book says Jesus fed 5000 people when it was actually 5000 men plus women and children. Try to explain that to a child without getting more questions like "why doesn't the Bible just say how many of everyone?" which just serves to get you off topic.
Overall, I thought the book was great and my children loved it as well. They looked forward to the next story each night, unlike other Bibles I've tried. By the end, they had memorized the mantra at the end of most stories that God loves us with an unfailing, neverending.....love. Now, my 10 year old did seem to tire of that repetition, but it was nice that it was drilled into their heads of how God has done all these things because of his love for us.
Under age 10, this book is awesome. By age 10, your child may want something more substantial, but they still enjoy it.
very, very good. It doesn't shame kids into following God out of Fear! by .. Emily Connelly () This is an awesome kid Bible. It takes license yes, but it is for 3-8 yr olds. The heart of the Gospel is in it. Plus as a bonus no manipulation! woo hoo! Check it out!

Customer reviews The Child's Story Bible by .. Josephine V. Cunningham ()
This is the best child's story bible printed, true to the word of God and a great teaching tool for raising children in the faith. I was thrilled to find it still in print.
"Don't stop! Keep reading!" by .. Lillekari (Washington State) That's the cry of my three girls (ages 4,6 and 9) after every Bible reading. I cannot say enough good about this book! I love Vos' insight and the way she explains and connects the Bible stories. The central theme of the entire Bible, Jesus Christ, is clear. The only thing that could be improved is the pictures are few, rather dark, and placed at odd intervals (not close to the stories they illustrate). However, the text is so wonderful and engaging that it doesn't matter. My daughters will sometimes scurry to find a picture of a story in one of their other Bible books, creating their own "interactive" lesson--ha! This isn't for the youngest children, however. They do need an attention span and ability to follow the story. But once they have that, this Bible is the one to buy!
fantastic book for children AND adults by .. lover of books ()
This is a fantastic book. I love reading it to our daughter, not only does it give us both time in the word but I love the stories as well. The book reads just like the bible only in story form. I would even suggest this book to someone "new" to the bible.
This is a must have for every christian home! by .. Lisa Ritter (Whitehall, WI) This book is by far the best Bible story book we have found. I have been a children's minister for 20 years and have reviewed many books and this one tops them all. The stories are biblically accurate and incredibly easy to understand. We have bought this for every family/friend that has had a baby for the last 5 years and will continue to do so because it is so wonderful.
Enjoyable by .. L. Kozak () this is nice to have. it hasn't become a favorite yet, but some of the pictures are really beautiful. the idea of passing our family history is wonderful and this is a great aid to jump start teaching your children their ancestry.

Product Description In this volume your little listeners will hear true, action-packed accounts of Joseph, Moses, Joshua, David, and Jonah. They will learn that God cares about them and that He will Help them no matter how difficult their circumstances. Customer reviews Volume 3 - Children love it! by .. D. Vandervalk (Thousand Oaks, CA) After years of reading "Read Aloud Bible Stories: Vol. 3" to my girls, I finally had to look up the others. Volume 3 has such fundamental stories (the Creation, the Flood, Daniel & the Lions, the birth of Jesus) that I wondered what could possibly be in Volumes 1 and 2! I just may have to get them and find out.
Originally I picked up this book for basic Bible stories I could read quickly before bed because there are not many words on each page (parents who read the same book night after night after night know exactly what I'm talking about!), but I thought the illustrations were kind of sloppy. Over time I came to appreciate the simple paintings for how they capture the essence of each scene with such casual ease. Children love them, so what do I know? Interestingly, a story in this volume about manna, "God Gives His People Bread to Eat," has been the perennial favorite.
Highly recommended by .. R. Brown () I purchased one book and my boys (three at the time) loved it. I purchased another in the series and then finally the last two. We've got a lot of bible story books my kids had no or little interest in. These are so engaging--the writing, the pictures, the selection of stories. These stories inspire them to pretend and re-tell the stories themselves. They are also easy to use as a lesson--the story, acting it out, doing a craft. I only wish there were more in the series!
love these by .. Ruth Ann (cincinnati, OH USA) I bought the first two books of the series over a dozen years ago when my youngest son was little. I was a preschool teacher of four year olds for many years and used these stories. I have also have used them with two-year-olds in Sunday School and the children like them. They get to the essence of the story with simple words and explanations. I love the simple and clear artwork with watercolor drawings. I think the simple story and artwork allows the feeling of the story to come through. I had looked for these books in stores over the years with no luck. Now with a grandson, I was delighted to find them to complete my collection. I can't wait to read the stories to him.
The best Bible Story book for infants/preschoolers! by .. Stacy W. Lane (Macon, GA) We used this book for our children from the time they were born until they were three years old. They loved it! The illustrations are fantastic and beautiful. Any time I give a baby gift I always include this book. Highly recommended!
Lovely book! by .. Evelyn Jaskoski () When my son was in preschool, this was hands down one of his favorite books, along with Vol. 1. The stories are simply written yet remain true to the spirit of the Word. We highly recommend these books!

Product Description One of Lion Publishing's most successful international best-sellers, The Children's Bible in 365 Stories tells the Bible narrative in detail and depth. As well as all the well-known Bible stories, it includes sections that most children's Bibles do not have space for: poetry, prophets, New Testament letters, etc. The result is a very readable and very thorough children's Bible - with an episode for every day of the year. This new paperback edition brings a best-seller to a new market. Customer reviews A Bible for kids!!! BUT... by .. JEFFREY SMITH (Los Angeles, CA USA) This is a great bedtime story book for kids but you will need to read it to them until they can read it themselves.
But what a great way to tell the story of what the Bible is and what it tells us about people that have been affected by God's presence in their lives, and, what the Bible story is all about. After all, it is a single story from Genesis to Revelation comprised of many individual stories within that single story of salvation.
Many parents, that may have not read the whole Bible through, may find this a revelation to them as to what really is the greatest story ever told! They and their children will learn so much more and can help teach the truth and clarity of each story they read. What fun that can be! You can ask questions of your kids and they can ask questions about the story you just read to them. Great learning tool.
Have fun and enjoy being able to teach your children about God's love for all people and His grace He has shown us from the very beginning of time.
Used at Church by .. A. Phillips () We have purchased this Bible storybook for many years for our Kindergarten children. The only thing we don't like about the book is that it is written at a higher reading level. This means that parents need to be reading with their child ... but that isn't such a bad thing. By the time the child is a more independent reader they are ready for their first complete Bible, not a storybook.
The pictures leave a bit to be desired. The fact that this is one of the only (if not only) storybook in a 365 day format is a huge bonus in helping to develop daily Bible reading habits from an early age!
Enjoy! Our families continue to choose this storybook over others!
LOVE the Story Per Day, Sometimes a Bit to Wordy by .. Michelle Stahl (Garden Valley, CA) I love the format of this children's Bible in that the stories are just a few paragraphs long, one for each day of the year. But they still go into enough detail so the meaning is not lost. My child usually asks me to continue and read further then just the one story-per-day, so it passed the REAL test - that of a child for whom the book is intended.
The illustrations, though, are my favorite. Many children's Bible's are very cotton-candy pastel, and that type of illustration just doesn't hold the attention of my 6 year old boy. These illustrations, however, are realistic, beautiful, rich in color and detail - and they don't gloss over the brutality that is a part of the Old Testament (and yet, at the same time, there's nothing gory or frightening within).
I give this 4 instead of 5 stars because I feel the language is a bit too advanced. I often find myself simplifying sentences or words so that my child can understand the storyline. I also think sometimes this book goes into a bit too much detail in a story, and the child can lose interest.
Still, I think this is one of the best of the bunch for younger children who are not yet ready for reading of the actual Bible, or for whom a condensed story line would be a beneficial addition.
Wonderful to teach your children how to read by .. Jim (USA) When both my girls were 3 years old I began reading this book to them every night. One story per night. When they were 4 years old, I started over and never underestimated them (kids are much smarter than we give them credit for). They remembered the stories from the previous year. Only this time around, I began showng them how the words are pronounced. By the end of this 2nd year, THEY were reading the book to me. The following year, they began kindergarten. But there was a huge, HUGE difference........my girls already knew how to read! And since then, I now have a child who just completed her 1st year of college and one who just completed her 1st year of high school. Both have had advanced courses and both continue the trend of getting straight As! This little insignificant book can really place your child's feet on solid ground for their future education. And I haven't even began to state the Message of the book. In a world rushing to judgement and a country which has forgotten and outlawed God, this book is a MUST for parents. Hopefully...oh how I hope that a young parent will read this review and follow my example by teaching their children both how to read, and to introduce them to the Lord Jesus.
love this bible by .. Christine M. Howard () My 10 year old daughter and I love this bible. We read it together every night, usually two chapters a night. It is great because it is pretty accurate, yet easy to understand. I would recommend it for kids 7-10 or even older. If you child is still too young for the real bible but too old for the baby ones, this one is perfect.

I think this is the perfect beginner's bible with all the illustrations it will keep kids attention and make it fun to learn.
Best for ages 2-5 (not 4-8 as shown on Amazon)... by .. ThisThatNEverything (Columbus, Ohio United States) I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 7-year-old daughter. She'd been begging for a bible of her own & after reading the reviews & seeing the recommended age of 4-8 I thought it would be great for her. I was a bit disappointed when the book came & I saw right on the back cover that it states: Ages 2-5.
The reading is o.k. for her age but the illustrations would be best for the younger age group as suggested by the publisher. Nevertheless the stories are still great & it's a nice book. My 5-year-old son will enjoy this a bit more though than the 7-year-old.
I would recommend this book but to the ages 2-5 rather than 4-8.
A Good First Bible by .. Amy (NC) I had a chance to read this bible and the previous printed version. I liked this one better than the older copy. Although there is not too much of a difference. It was recommended to me by the Associate Pastor's wife of my church for my two year old daughter.
Just Wonderful - Really 5 stars by .. Mai (Arizona) This is a wonderful Bible for small children or new readers to introduce them to the Bible stories. The language is age-appropriate and the illustrations are great - not scary like some children's Bibles. This has been the 'textbook' for my Sunday School class (ages infant-2yrs) for 6 years and I make sure that all of my sweet little students have one to read at home also. It is comprehensive enough to cover most all of the lessons that we cover each year. This book is broken up into Bible 'stories' which are just the right length for a Bible lesson or bed-time story. I have seen many children's Bibles and this is my favorite. (I tried to go back and rate this 5 stars, but couldn't change it)
love it by .. Jessica Wright (MS) I love this book and so do my children 7 and 3. We have also taken it to church and used it in our sunday school class. Very well done.

Classic Bible Stories: A Family Treasury - A Review by .. Robert C. Hampton (Yorktown, VA United States) Classic Bible Stories: A Family Treasury provides an excellent overview of the Bible. It is the best unbiased view of the Bible for youth that I have ever encountered.
The initial appeal of this book for children and adults alike is found in the beautifully illustrated pages of the book. The colors are rich and the realistic form is attractive.
Lise Caldwell stayed true to the original source content of the Bible and often included details that came as a pleasant surprise when double-checked for accuracy in the original Scriptures.
As a former school teacher, I found this book invaluable in constructing a Bible curriculum for a local private school. My students scored very high on standardized tests on Bible knowledge compared to students in other similar schools.
Eventually, I was asked to share my teaching skills in this area with other educators at an area conference with the Association of Christian Schools International. It was a pleasure to cite Classic Bible Stories: A Family Treasury as my primary source.
I have definitely selected Classic Bible Stories: A Family Treasury by Lise Caldwell as a first choice for gifts for children of family and friends.
A Beautiful Gift Book by .. (Antioch, CA United States) Every two year old that graduates from our church's nursery receives one of these books. The book is well-written and beautifully bound and illustrated. It makes a wonderful presentation as a gift and will be cherished for years to come by the whole family.
A GOLDEN-EDGED TREASURE by .. Soaring Heart () This is a terrific book, my daughter loves it! On the cover, it has Joseph sleeping in his coat of many colors, dreaming of the sheaves bowing down to his sheaf. Throughout the entire book there is a realistic, vividly colored, full-page illustration to go with each story. The stories are not too long are too short. I can read two stories a night to my daughter (she's three) and also some other books. She loves the pictures and listens to the stories attentively. A FAMILY TREASURY CLASSIC BIBLE STORIES contains 33 popular Old Testament stories, and 42 well-known New Testament stories; each your children will enjoy and learn a great deal from. I've been looking for a collection such as this since my daughter was born and this is the first one that I liked enough to purchase. I believe you will enjoy it as much as your kids do, I know I do! Enjoy.

Steph (Rochester Hills, MI) If you're looking for a fun way to begin introducing your little one to scripture and application, this is great. I enjoy the songs and the little lessons. My only suggestion for future publications is that the song # be placed as a reference on the story page. As you can imagine, with the large number of songs, if you want to dive into the middle of the book and you don't know the corresponding song number, it's gonna take some effort to find it. I just wrote the #'s in myself so now it's a breeze. The music is energetic and fun and the lessons are well done. Enjoy!
thorough and non-violent by .. A. Moses (Dallas, TX) There are many stories in here that don't usually make it into a children's Bible, such as Balaam and the Talking Donkey or Ezekiel and the Dry Bones. I'm very pleased with the selection!
More importantly, the text does an excellent job of carefully phrasing the violent parts of stories into something small children can understand (without being scared). Even Abraham's sacrifice of Isaac is taught without the words "kill" or "die" or even "sacrifice." But even with the simplification, the renderings are perfectly accurate.
I personally find the CDs rather annoying, but they're not made for adults.
Just right for 2-3 year olds by .. Jane Heinze () I'd been looking for a children's Bible that my son could really understand (he recently turned 2). This one has brief stories that his attention span can cope with. At the end of each story, there is a review statement (observation), a statement making the story relevant to today's life (interpretation), and an application statement ("I will pray to God", "I will obey God", etc). Although it's simple enough for my son to understand, my almost 4-year-old daughter enjoys listening as well, and the 3 concluding statements trigger great questions from her. We listen to the CDs in the car, and the songs are great for reinforcing ideas from the stories. I'm glad I found this book, it works really well for both my children.
The Best for Toddlers! by .. L. Hammond (VA) This is absolutely the best bible story devotional for toddlers that I have seen, and I've looked at a lot. I love the application sentences that are short and easy to understand and memorize. The kids LOVE the songs, and can now sing them even when the CD isn't playing, which I love, because they're memorizing biblical truths in song! The pictures are entertaining, and the stories are just the right length for the toddler's attention span (although we usually read 2 or 3 in a sitting). This is DEFINITELY worth buying!
Good idea - not a good execution by .. T. Bryant (Springfield, VA) I bought this book to use in conjuntion with a sunday school lesson that we teach for 3-4 year olds. The index does not allow you to figure out which of the songs relate to a particular bible story.
My main gripe - the CD's were packaged in vinyl envelopes on the inside of the front and back covers of the book. The CD's has chemically reacted to the vinyl and would not play ont he CD player. After some cleaning I was able to remove some of the haze but not completely.
Overall - a flop!

Product Description In today's world, the basic building blocks of a Christian world view are often missing in people's lives. To help fill in this missing information, The 52 Greatest Stories of the Bible presents a foundational, clear synthesis of the most significant narratives of the Bible along with the implications and applications of these interrelated stories. It presents the big story in such a way that it will: Connect the dots for readers of the Bible, demonstrating how each individual story is really one chapter in the larger story; Show how Jesus is the point of the story, especially his death and resurrection; and Build a biblical world view by showing the reader how the Bible answers the ultimate questions of life. Customer reviews Great Book! by .. James L (Ventura, CA) Reading this book feels like a conversation with a good friend. A good friend with a breadth of knowledge in the Bible's historical context and how these stories can apply to your life today.
It's a well written devotional that will cause you to walk deeper with God.
I'm halfway through and hope the author releases another book by the time I finish!
Great study! by .. Carol A. Miller () My bible study group is using this book as a discussion and study resource. We are reading it and getting together to discuss what we've learned from it. Everyone in the group is enjoying reading the book, they like the format, and the book is insightful.
Highly recommended! by .. armchairinterviews.com (Minnesota) The 52 Greatest Stories of the Bible is a devotional study that will teach us that the twists and turns and bends in life are not random. Nothing happens to us pointlessly. God will use each and every circumstance to shape us and form us into the kind of image we were designed to be.
The authors started in the Old Testament, and had a hard time determining which stories to include in this book. After some discussion they decided on the fifty-two stories included. John Alan Turner wrote the devotions for Monday through Thursday and Kenneth Boa wrote the devotional for Friday. They are divided up as such:
Monday - a conversational retelling of the story, including historical context
Tuesday - a discussion of the orthodoxy of the story and how it shapes our beliefs
Wednesday - a study of how it shapes our values
Thursday - exploration of how it should shape our actions
Friday - the conclusion of the study that will guide you through a prayerful response
The 52 Greatest Stories of the Bible was a true pleasure to use as a devotional. I enjoyed delving into the stories at the depth that was included in this book. My pastor husband was very excited to see this book and he wanted to go through it as soon as I finished it.
If you are looking for an in-depth Bible study devotional, then the 396-page The 52 Greatest Stories of the Bible is definitely a book to consider.
Armchair Interviews says: It is highly recommended. Don't miss this book!
Excellent Study! by .. D. Booth (Atlanta, GA) If you've never heard these stories or are not really sure what they're trying to say then this book will reveal the insights in a warm and friendly way. If you know these stories then you're in for a surprise. Life is breathed back into the Bible in this study. Perfect for sharing.
The Great 52 Review by .. Matthew Dabbs () Kenneth Boa and John Alan Turner offer a very distinct and useful approach to a daily devotional. Selecting one major narrative of the Bible each week they explore the story itself and how it impacts our life and and faith in different ways each day of the week. The tone is conversational, the stories are retold in an engaging way and the application is excellent. It is rare to find this many biblical narratives examined with this quality in as few pages as Boa and Turner manage.
This is a unique approach to devotional reading through the year and I would highly suggest picking up a copy. It would also be a good book to recommend to people looking for a daily devotional.
