Can't Be Read Without a Magnifier if You're Over 40 by .. Too Cold in Madison (Madison, WI, USA) There's a lot of very useful information in this book, but no one over about 40 will be able to obtain it without a magnifying glass. Even with my reading glasses, I find this very difficult to read with my 49-year old eyes. Without them it is impossible.
It sure was easier to read in Medical School 20 years ago. Since then, presbyopia has set in and progressed. I also think that the print size has been reduced over time to include more information without increasing the size of the book. Anyone who finds themselves needing reading glasses or contacts to read larger version. You'll have to carry a magnifying glass with you to use this one.
Unlike the reviewers who gave this book only one star because of the small print, I give it four because of the excellent content. One star deducted for not making the book a bit bigger. I think they could have made it a bit easier to read without compromising portability.
Sanford Pocket Guide: too small of print by .. Marc Nuss (Texas, USA) The print is just too small to make it worthwhile to those of us who don't have the vision of youth and don't want the hassle of looking at too small print.
Great resource, but get the bigger size to save your eyes! by .. Sara White (Salt Lake City, UT USA) this is a must have for MDs and pharmacists to treat any sort of infection. It has suggested treatments, doses, and durations. In addition, it has a section where microbes that are relatively uncommon and the drugs that treat them. It has renal dosages and common and severe side effects for the drugs. It also has a nice resources page for various items, including drugs that may prolong the QT interval, the CDC, AIDS, etc. I recommend getting the larger version, as sometimes I cannot see the small print.
beware of microscopic print by .. Anthony J. Kaiser () excellent reference book--BUT the copy i received is in microscopic print and therefore useless to me--I must have missed this fact in ordering--in the future MICROSCOPIIC print should be soelled out

Customer reviews no eye strain by .. Brian K. Fipps (oklahoma) The Sanford guide is widely accepted as a guidline for prescribing antimicrobials. The smaller pocket version is just too small to read. This is an identical version, only in larger print.

The medium size spiral edition is the one to get. by .. CS () After seeing the size of the text and tables of the pocket size version, the spiral bound book was definetly a better choice because it can be read without a magnifying glass and still fits into my lab coat.
The best by .. Almost NP (Chicago) I had the pocket version and wanted to see if a larger version had more info or is just larger print. Don't get both as they are identical as far as I can tell. The larger one has a ring binding, so you can lay it flat and look at it. Also, for those over 40 the print is bigger. The larger one would fit in an oversize pocket, but mine are too stuffed with other stuff to fit the big version.
Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy 2008 by .. David M. Decker (Anchorage Alaska, USA) If you have only one reference for Antibiotic therapy this should be it.Although not always intuitive in it's layout, once you find what your looking for, it offers clear instruction and sensinable alternitives. A standard for all practices.
Sanford Guide by .. M. Girvigian (Los Angeles,CA) I have been using this guide as a reference for years, since I was in school. It's a great guide.
