I bought a Kindle for my mother for Christmas and decided to get her this book to help her learn how to use it. It helps that she has a book to read and explain how to use the Kindle, instead of reading on the machine itself and not knowing what you are doing. By having the book she can experiment and learn all the keys and have a refernce on hand that she can always refer back to.
This book has a wealth of information and is a great addition to the Kindle itsefl. I would espcially recommend it for someone who is not completely comfortable with using comptuers.

Without this book, the Kindle is just an eReader. With it, it is an essential part of my traveling kit - whether on vacation or just to get gas. I downloaded this document the day after receiving my Kindle and read it cover to cover on the Kindle within a day. I took breaks only to let my brain absorb all that it imparted. I have found a lot of tips and shortcuts that I didn't know were available on the Kindle even after having read the complete owner's manual that was loaded on the device. For example, did you know that you can find out what time it is with a couple of keystrokes on the Kindle? It is a "must read" for anyone who owns or is thinking about owning a Kindle. As an ecologist I've spent a fair bit of time in the American tropics. Much of that time was spent in the Peruvian Amazon, from the Manu National Park to Iquitos and many rivers, creeks, and lakes in between, some of the time at Paul's lodges. I can speak from experience when I say that what stories Paul Beaver paints in this book are no exaggerations. I was on the Huagramona trip and his chapter only touches on what incredible adventure one can find in this primeval world. I only wish he had more space in the book to devote to each trip's discoveries. This book will make you want to visit the Amazon, and for those who cannot, this book will truly take you there through an explorer's eyes.

Paul's book of his experiences and the establishment of his Amazonian lodge are delightful. They not only give the reader an inside look into the surprises of life in the jungle but also highlight the warmth and character of the local peoples. It is so thoughtful for an American to announce to the world in such glowing fashion the culture and worth of the Peruvian people of which I am. I have visited many of the places mentioned in this book, and have lived in some. This book gives an incredibly accurate account of local folklore and life in the Amazon as lived by its people and fauna. It is a very worthwhile, uplifting book to read and I highly recommend it, especially if you will be visiting Peru.
